I would think the HR's can either be lessened by a higher difficulty level or slider work.
We will probably have to wait until the final release to find out if that is indeed the case.

I think I remember this being discussed earlier in the day, but I can't find the comments now. So I apologize if this is a dumb question.
I can find the demo in the marketplace, but when I select it, the "download demo" box is grayed out, and a dialog box next to it says "this feature is temporarily unavailable". Then if I select " all files" I can select the demo, but I immediately get an error message. Any ideas on a fix? Thanks in advance.

Everyone has realized by now that this games tv style presentation will rival any next gen sports title, however, has anyone noticed that even with the good quality of the presentation, that the replay feature is not active for the demo, meaning that zoomed in replay cut scenes are not even being shown yet along with in between inning highlights which were confirmed to be in the final retail version by devs and people who have beta copies.
I am pointing this out b/c the I really think that the retail version of the game will realy blow people away.

I'm thinking that the HR fest that some users are seeing will also be able to be fixed with Difficulty increases/Slider Adjustments.
I was worried about them after a couple games, but then I played a couple more and was getting base hit single and doubles consistently.

Was a nice touch.
at least the ps3 demo is supposed to come out on thursday, so you have the option to play it more on that
I read through some of this earlier today, decided to download the demo myself tonight. Now for what it is worth I havn't followed baseball much for several years. I was a catcher in school and loved baseball as a kid and despite not being a hardcore follower I feel I understand the game fairly well. Also must say i havn't played a many baseball game the last decade. I played some Triple Play 2000 on my PS1 and had the first NCAA baseball on Xbox. A friend had MVP 05 and played that a few times and seemed pretty solid. I never played the show or a 2K baseball game before and only have a 360 so thought about picking 2K this year.
I had no clue what I was doing my first trip through the demo. Got rocked for like 8 runs in the first inning. I just had no clue how to pitch. I found somewhere about timing and think I figured out what worked for me pitching. I pretty much stay w/ where my catcher was setting me up and the pitch he wanted me to throw. The first motion you time until the circle matches up and then start the second motion at that point. A couple times I nail the circles and it popped up "max". I stuck out the CPU looking a couple times. I had them swing at some pitches out of the zone. I got Howard on a high outside pitch and he swung like he was trying to kill it and about feel over. It feel like you really have to paint the corners and thats baseball, but I seen it done in my little time w/ the game.
I also had the computer steal on me. I actually got a pick off on accident. I don't know how common that is on games now, but I remember it being near impossible back in the day.
Hitting seemed okay, I am sure I am not the greatest. I think I have played the demo 3x and didn't see any homers the last 2 games. I have no clue how to baserun or steal, but was able to manufacter a couple runs with the small ball. Hammels really was painting corners on me. I always knew it was going to be a close call for ball strike, but he usually hit the corner.
As others mentioned I did see a couple collision detection issues, nothing killer to me I guess. I played the NCAA series for years and it really drives me nuts on that game, but I don't think it is anything nearly as bad as that game so I can live w/ it. I wish it was better though. I think this seems like a decent sports game to me IMO. I always have loved 2K's presentation. It seems like good gameplay to me for the most part. Yeah some of the visuals are over the top with the ball meter and color flashing for strikes but the stuff also mostly serves a purpose. I really like the realtime presentation, makes your feel like its a real live game for the most part. At least seems better than most sports games I have played.
I am not a 100% sure I will pick this game up, but I am leaning toward it. I really would kinda like to get back into baseball. I am just never sure how I would like to play these games. 162 games is a long season and I like to do franchise stuff. Not sure how to get the best of both worlds. I would definately be intersted in maybe an online league, but I know the online was unplayable last year from what I read. Thankfully VC took over this year and I have confidence w/ them as a developer. I love CH 2k8 and All Pro. I prefer 2k games myself over alot of other developers and still have over +$100 in best buy gift cards from christmas so I'd say I am 80% sure I'll pick this up after I read some reviews the few days after the game is out. Only other game really on my radar right now is UFC 2009 and thats not out until March. Im really not in need of another game, I play All Pro, NCAA 2009 OD (although really getting sick of broken stuff there), NHL 2009 and Civ IV. I know my post is a novel and a little off topic, but I wanted to provide a bit of an outside look from someone that isn't as familar to the CG baseball games.
Oh had ya the movement from batter's box to stance is way jerky. It looks odd but gameplay is always number 1 to me so I can let some little thing slide, just stuff I would like to see cleaned up once VC fixes gameplay from the last developer.

The one... and only thing that keeps ringing in my mind is there is some sort of charm that is there with the game.
I can't put my finger on what it is... but there's something there.
This, going by 2k's track record, should have a fantastic online setup and thus allow for some decent online baseball on the 360.
I would say this game is going to look very disappointing on the PS3.

Only 1 game and already I can tell 2k9 has finally put baseball back on the map for us 360 owners... framerate, perfect.. pitching/hitting.. excellent.. fielding, good.... the whole presentation and commentary, unreal...
Seriously.. I just felt like I played an NCAA 09 football game.. what an experience that was!!!
