FIFA 15 has found its way into stores, and many of you are no doubt spending big parts of your day playing this year's game. You can check out our initial impressions of the game here.
What do you think about the game? Post your impressions here!
I have to say, so far I'm really impressed with the game, and am happy with many of the improvements made. I enjoy seeing the defense making more adjustments rather than just being 100% cheap, and it's nice to see players revved up after a teammate makes a great defensive play.
Having said that, there is still one thing driving me nuts. First and foremost, is the player switching is still broken/cheating. I was leading Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 as the Wolves, when Sheffield W raised their intensity. This was great to see, and it seemed more legitimate than previous years. Id seen my team do it also when we were down ... it seemed more realistic than the usual auto-goal malarky that happens. The one thing that kills me is they came back to win 3-1 which is no problem. Two of the goals were goals where I switched to make a play and it gives me the furthest away defender so I cant possibly make a play. We shouldnt have to try to manual switch with the right stick, it should switch you to the right guy for the job, not some guy who is out of the play. This needs to be addressed very quickly. Its a tiring tactic the game uses to score goals when the game is close.
I get what you're saying. Just suggesting that manual controls adds to the overall difficulty of the game, even if it is making it harder for you and not making the CPU any better.
But, if you can't get over the AI to enjoy the game, that's fine. To each his own.
No, I hear ya. I'm just not much into manual as I used to be. It's just a shame cause the attacking football is so fluid and fun, and yet I get no satisfaction like I did with 14 'cause it's all so easy - and it's every game.
It's like every game is Man Utd - Leicester, and no games are like Man City - Chelsea. Just extremely frustrated and disappointed 'cause I spend countless hours enjoying 14.
Yeah grallis, the player switching can be abysmal.
I hate it when you are tracking someone and then it flicks you over to someone else you then run the wrong way because you didn't realize it.
I have auto switching on air balls but I have also shut it off, tinkered with off low and high move assistance, none of it seems to cure the odd unexpected switch.
The CPU exploit this by passing deep, which switches control to that defender then passing it back out, so if you were moving that defender up, it now switches to the defender further forward who runs past the ball giving the pass back receiver plenty of time and space. The game knows what it's doing to the human player.

The game definitely does know what it's doing to the human player, I totally agree. I liken it to cheating, because when the computer wants a goal, that seems how a lot of them are done, which is too bad because I find most of the play actually quite believable this year... more or less anyway.
I picked up FIFA15 today because I couldn't wait another month for PES2015. (PES2015 demo is really refreshing!)
In FIFA, it's so easy for me to bring the ball to opponent's final third. CPU does the same thing and race themselves in order to by pass midfield. Nothing really happens in between. It's really frustrating that this is the same FIFA from 3 years ago.
I think FIFA developers were sitting at the top comfortably for too long and completely ignored game play improvements. God I really hope PES does well this year and give a good competition. (It will only make FIFA a better game I truly believe)
I'm going to check out Manager mode until NBA2k15 comes out and trade it in.
The speed of FIFA '15 is really bothering me. It just feels like Hamster Dash 15. "Slow" should mean "Slow" and it simply doesn't. Classic overcorrection from EA Sports since FIFA 14 was deemed too slow by some.
Sliders might help, but I doubt it. If you hammer the sliders, then you create issues with Fatigue disappearing.
I like a lot of things about 15, but there's so little buildup play. I may just play NBA 2K15 this year.

When you say speed, are you referring to the movement of the players, or the pace of play (i.e. lack of buildup, mostly counter-attack)?
'Cause I actually don't mind the movement speed of players (though I would prefer something in-between FIFA and PES), but the lack of buildup, and general pace of play in terms of type of football being played, is a huge issue for me. Not that I don't like exciting matches, I just like realistic variety.
Im just happy that fouls are being called now. Especially for the cpu ai, this is the first time ive seen a fifa game where the cpu got 5 fouls and 3 cards. And the crowd, amazing!
Really enjoying it. In some ways they've been able to take out the arcadeness of the title and yet still make it online capable.(by that i mean co op styled). The BPL presentation is so good that you yearn for it in the bundesliga, the la liga and other leagues for sure. playing with real madris vs barca isnt as mazing as laying with totenham vs swansea city even say.
Is this there some sort of typed word limit on posts?
Once again I typed up a detailed reasoning behind why there is no buildup play in the game and the thread reply froze. This is on iPad. I lost all of it. This is annoying.
I digress...
Short version, buildup up play by the CPU is absent because the CPU still won't make risky passes and the man marking is too tight in the midfield so the CPU doesn't think anyone is open so they just go on silly dribble runs.
The fix but not solution would be to loosen human marking (but only in midfield) which is impossible.
But the real solution is in the coding. IRL football the player receiving the pass will run back towards his own goal to collect it while looking for pass targets in his periphery. This is totally missing from fifa. So all they need to do is code passing targets to make runs back towards their own goal much more often. It's this going forward while incrementally going backwards that is missing from the build up play.
You can see the player run logic built into your trigger player run button (LB) doing the same thing. 95% of the time the player runs forward only. I swear this button made the players run to space in like fifa 11 or 12 and not just forward.
The fact is, space, often, is backwards of your player location.
Strangely enough though, on lower difficulties I see my cpu controlled teammates make better diagonal runs and hook runs while signaling their intent with hand signals. These still are all forward minded runs.
I don't think ea could patch it so that their cpu players came back towards passes in midfield but that would be the simple answer to creating more buildup play and less frenetic ping pong race up the field/or ludicrous dribble run cpu gameplay.
I am just saying across the board in this game nobody ever seems to come back to the ball that frequently.
I love how if you give up a free kick and the end result is a goal the camera then zooms in on the player who committed the initial foul. Pretty much singling them out and blaming him for the whole thing.
So is the linesman going to do that smirk (when he moves half of his lip) every single time they show him? Only the first time I thought that it was a nice touch to have facial expressions, but every single time???? It's exaggerated and already annoying.

I mean pace not necessarily movement. The game is just ballistic from the start, like at all moments there are 20 little mice fighting for scraps of cheese. If you attempt to slow the pace it backfires.
