They say they came out with an update but it's supposedly still missing players.

They actually removed more players.

This game has EA-itis.

Your first 6-7 hours playing it you are blown away at how incredible it all is.

The next 8-40 hours are spent wondering why you see legacy fifa issues, missing features, broken features, suspect AI, amazing rule bending, etc.

You spend some of those hours looking online for answers only to see that there are few answers that work other than possibly fixing kickoff matches with slider changes...cm could work if they ever have a squad update that puts many key players back into the squad file.

Fut is shaky, disconnects, coins not being awarded, server issues with the web and app interfaces, etc.

This game overall is seriously about 70% incomplete.

The only parts of the game that are close to finished are the kits and the stadiums.

The only hope I have for this game is if they care for it like the ea ufc team and put out 47 patches that fix critical things. We will see if that happens.

Yep, pretty much.

From my memory, there is almost zero history of EA releasing patches that target gameplay for FIFA. Always other issues instead, unfortunately.

Although if it affects Online gameplay - it could be addressed. I would say man marking as the primary form of defending would be an issue. Although not sure if online players realize that yet or not.

I want the tactics after that. just those two fixes would set this game back on the right course.

The only way I can truly enjoy the game right now, especially if I'm annoyed with it is, to be play Be a Pro. I play with the Pro cam zoomed all the way in for now, and the gameplay seems a lot better. I'm actually really enjoying it. Manager mode ............. not so much.

Pretty sure they released a patch last year shortly after release that improved the backline defending. Could be wrong but that's my memory at least.

I'd be shocked if they don't patch a few things, like at least the long shot exploit that everyone is doing online.

They desperately need to improve the defensive AI, though I don't know how much an improvement they can make with just a patch. I'd like to also see them increase the CPU defensive aggressiveness, 'cause the amount of times I've dribbled through the CPU defense without them attempting a tackle - on Legendary - is ridiculous.

Tactics too need to be patched. Team sheets aren't working properly online. Keepers are glitchy in some actions. CM has bugs, as usual. Defending in general is waaaayy underpowered.

I'd be pretty surprised if they don't release some type of fix, though I'd be equally surprised if it makes the substantial type of improvement many of us would like to see.

They definitely could have. But before that, I don't think they ever addressed any gameplay issues. They'd instead releases patches to fix bugs, most often in CM it seemed.

There would also be the yearly patch that everyone swore improved gameplay, even though EA said they didn't touch it. The yearly FIFA placebo patch. Can't wait for it this year! Ha.

But really, a few minor fixes (being able to adjust AI tactics being one of them), and this game would be pretty damn fun. Right now, it's too frustrating to be fun. Especially when compared to last year's release, which looks better than ever when compared to this year's.

I think it is finished, just with the usual bugs, niggles and giggles like any other game

Played nearly my most satisfying game of FIFA 15 the other day vs the CPU. It was the weekly challenge, Stevenage (me) vs Luton Town. I don't know if it was the ratings of the players but the pace was nearly perfect, the touches seemed pretty good, and tbh both teams sucked. I said "nearly" because the only goal by me (1st highlight) and another play displayed the poor keepers with the 2nd highlight showing bad keeper AI & bad defensive AI.

1st highlight:

Absolutely love the nutmeg by my player and the animation to hop around the challenge. Liked how the 2nd defender came over to try help but he was just too late (no problem with that). The keeper though, UGH. The shot was right at him and he literally moves out of the way. Maybe he thought I was going near post but still, he should have saved that.

2nd highlight

I'm on park the bus trying to preserve the 1-0 lead with also "counter" selected thinking that if I catch them, I can seal this one and I nearly do. I head a cross out of danger and am 1-on-1 with the defender. He pretty much allows me to get by him and it's off to the races. You can see him turbo and then stop to allow me to go past him before he tries to pull me back. I get into the box and don't have any actions so I have a go. The keeper is protecting near post, rightly so as that's where I'm aiming. Instead of taking one step to his right for the easy parry, he goes into a superman dive backwards.

The keepers constantly have the wrong animations playing out really hurting the realism. It's like the game wants to showcase these new keeper animations so badly despite just playing the proper animation.

I'm loving it so far..last FIFA game I had was '11 so yeah it was somewhat overwhelming when I started. And the graphics look great...especially up close and during replays.

And patch in practice mode
And fix handballs

And get on a schedule of adding things to the catalog. New boots and kits should be added every Monday. I guarantee you the art department would have no problem doing or wanting to do this because I know for certain once the game went gold and nothing could be added and new stuff was revealed in the real life football world they were bummed.

Put more useful stuff in the catalog! More teams for rest of the world, new chants, new songs for the soundtrack.

It's 2014, we have the technology.

I'm about 80% prepared to start playing FIFA '14 again because of this problem. It's unfathomable. Defending in 15 is quite simply appalling. Your only recourse is to stand in front of the CPU like a human piņata and pray to get hit with the football because tackling is useless and the CPU can simply dribble around you even with terrible players. Hopeless.

I have to chuckle at times when I see such posts. I may be strange and the odd man out, but I for one like the fact that I have control of my entire defense and I win my share of tackles, but I can forget winning tackles when my small defender tries to out muscle or shoulder charge a beast of a player :-)

You're unfortunately in the minority here. I just played West Ham, as Wolves in the League Cup. Normally, a game against West Ham would feature some long balls or at least some crosses from the wing.

Instead, I watched as Andy Carroll was played a short pass from Noble, ran out to the wing, dribbled and danced around my garbage A.I teammates and then fired an errant cross in. Carroll dribbled more in that possession than he has in the entire BPL season thus far.

I REALLY want to love this game. It's my first dive into next gen Fifa. I'm at a loss as far as describing the atmosphere. It's gorgeous and engulfing to say the least. I've crafted a team that I would love to play with, but I'm tired of being dissected the entire game with pass after pass after pass while my teammates watch.

What difficulty setting are you playing on?

I, unfortunately, have to agree completely with Gnemi. Whether it's single player or online, the defending flaws lead to easy chances and easy goals, by both me and my opponent.

It's wonderful when the game comes together, but when these defensive flaws make their impact, it's maddeningly frustrating when you concede and unsatisfying when you score.

I posted this in my sliders thread, but thought I'd share. The fact of the matter is, you can't make these determinations without exploring every arena - or have someone like myself do it for you. The pieces of the puzzle ARE THERE - you just have to put in the work to put them together:

Basically trying to get the max out of the settings, but not sacrifice any of the "good" stuff as a result. It's very much like a golf game, fix one area, another one breaks down. I really don't want that.

Some of the areas I'll be working on, ranked by priority:

1. Prideful pressure
- The defensive line needs to meet the forwards/midfielders when one of the banks is passed through - it needs to be quicker - and send a message. I'll be happy with more errors, but my "cake" will be the defender and attacker/midfielder posted up together.

2. CPU build up
- Less forward balls, more switching points of attack (if applicable), more back passing, more mistakes.

3. Long balls/clearances
- Clearances happen, but you really have to trap the CPU into a tight spot for them to make that decision. Sometimes they will even pass back to the keeper - that's when I know it's right.

4. More fouls
- For a 15 minute match, I should see about 5 fouls per team.
A pretty productive round of testing last night, boys. Thanks to reaper and HR for being on there to keep me awake - sorry I bout dozed off towards the end.

What we found out was that LINE SETTINGS (version 6) and MARKING (62) are the most important value to achieving the type of passes we are looking for. Then, PASS ERROR, is the next value. Here are the findings with V6 Settings:

PASS ERROR (tested in 5 increment values):

0&5 : perfect passing, no back passes, no clearance, no lob, no long

10&15: decent passing (still high %), occasional back pass, clearances but not in obvious positions (have to dribble around first), no lob, no long

20&25: passing more erratic (still high %), back pass, slowed pace of play (more side to side and obvious passes), through balls are still like everyone is a playmaker, lob passes begin, no long pass

30&35: ground passes have errors! clearances! lob passes! long pass (with a change in line width between 70-100)! and a bonus of switching long ball on opposite side of field.

We stopped testing @ 30 and @ 35. 35 by far was the best settings, so far. We did increase line width (just to test) and it was evident that this is what "unlocked" the long balls on those Pass Error values.

More testing is needed. Remember you can watch last night's testing (although it could be boring) on TwitchTV, in the archived videos section.

Continuing tests @ 35 tonight, and taking a look at line settings! btw, Items 1,2 and 3 were accomplished last night...just sayin

When you find a slider that fixes the defensive AI, let me know. I like the game at default otherwise.

I played 14 for hours yesterday, and a bit this morning before heading to work.

It's so much better than 15 right now. Go for it!
