Surprisingly, not even close to what it was in previous years. Actually, it doesn't really at all now that I think about it.

Yeah, you can draw fouls against the CPU this year and, *gasp*, they will be called for it. It's a pretty amazing change and I hope it's here to stay.

Early in my career with Nottingham Forest, I unnerved Derby County and they had two players sent off. It was an away fixture and a derby at that, so I still managed to lose 2-1 (WTF), but I was completely floored by the sendings off. TWO of them, and for FOUR cards. Neither was a straight red.

That's awesome.

Sometimes I don't notice the physical play by the AI until I look at replays. At times they go hard with the sliding tackles, shirt pulling, etc. Then it depends on the ref how strict he is and how much he allows. I had games where Juve knocked me out... literally and the ref allowed it to where QPR tried the same but the ref kept the cards flying until it died down.

I don't really get the complaints, I find the fun factor with this game to be off the charts and with limited gaming time, that's always most important to me. I have to look at the whole package and what appeals to me and FIFA offers that where PES most likely will not and it surely won't be a big enough difference to sway me. FIFA looks great, plays great...and fun factor is huge.

You have to retreat and cut off passing lanes, and that's okay with me, but I don't necessarily agree that tackling is useless.

All of this is fluid, mind you. I may be totally pissed off at the defending in my next post.

This so much. I use Milan, and when im manually controlling de Jong I have so much more success tackling and intercepting passes than if I was using most all the othe mids like Montolivo and Honda. Its quite noticeable. He's saved many chances in the defending third for me.

Why when I'm connected online is the gameplay choppy and the menus slow (PS4)? This is not playing online just connected to the internet.

My connection speed is quick (20Mbps download)

When I disconnect from the internet the game plays fine but when connected you simply can't play it either solo or if you want to play a fellow gamer online - this happened on the demo and also on the NHL 15 demo.

All other games are fine apart from the EA games - server issues EA side?

Any ideas?

For anyone on the PC, shoreloser over at Soccer Gaming has created a cl.ini file that changes and re-adjusts the ball weight, dip, curve, etc. That was my one major complaint with the demo, and it's essentially fixed now with shoreloser's adjustments.

I just had a fun draw with Chelsea vs. Everton on Professional using Orion's sliders. World Class AI still plays cheap. There were about 13 shots in total with 10 minute halves. The best part for me is CPU fouls. Everton had two yellow cards. So far, I'm pretty satisfied. Enough has been mentioned about the emotion but I love it.

I just saw the absolute weirdest thing.

I played a CPU vs CPU match. Bayern v. Dortmund. Dortmund won 1-0 on a Benatia own goal in the 11th minute.

At the end of the game, I pressed replay game, figuring I'd watch Bayern get their revenge. Nope. The game played out EXACTLY the same, right down to specific runs, tackles and shots.

WTF!?!?!?

Can someone or you Yeats, kind sir, post the insides of the ini file here?

I love seeing coding...things like shot_spin, punt_distance_variance, volley_traj_height, dribble_success_rate, etc

EDIT, I went over there and looked myself and could not find it. I came across his FIFA 14 gameplay patch and thought this was humorous.

Lethargy BuildUp :
the cpu will grant your build up and stop that cheating unhuman pressing with no fatigue on their side , the ai will try to capture the ball by positioning and by tactic

Whoa. That's nuts. I need to try this.

If anybody has read my previous postings, you'd know I'm quite critical of sports games, EA games in particular. To start off, I'm very happy with FIFA 15. Far from perfect as always, but they took several steps in the right direction. Having said that, EA gimmicks are still here, they are just better at covering them up than before. The new goal-line clearances are kind of a joke. I'm glad theyre in there, but instead of being an organic thing that players do, its a sideshow now. There are so many, and they are 100% manufactured. I see goaltenders and defenders that could often stop the ball before the line, but they all freeze while the one defender swoops back to clear it off the line. I see the weirdest cirque-du-soleil style acrobatics of the ball and defence, things that look so foolish just so that the ball can be cleared off the line.

I'm also starting to notice something else. If the defender is marking me from the right distance, I make a run, charge my shot, let go of the button, but my forward takes another 2-4 steps before he shoots, and it seems the sole purpose of these extra steps is to showcase the new block shot mechanism and animations. Classic EA maneuver, lol.

Grallis, that is right, its so the CPU has a chance to do that thing I hate so much. Kick my kicking/shooting boot.

For the clearances part I will say this. Yes they are still OP, but this is better than last year because and this is a big because...BECAUSE now the user has goal line clearances occur for them.

Last year it was so cruelly imbalanced with the CPU pulling off amazing clearances at the last second to thwart your honest goal scoring efforts.

This year at least they let it happen to the CPU too.

I hope to hell that whatever EA does with the FIFA series going forward they do not nerf fouls actually being called. It has changed the game by giving user more opportunities to score directly or indirectly from set pieces, and I think allows for a much better balance and pace between attacking in open play since you don't necessarily need to pull off a perfect sequence every time you are in possession.

With the ability to draw fouls more frequently I get more chances to cause chaos with feeds into the box from set pieces, or actually scoring off a set piece. I spend less time worrying about playing like Barcelona in the attacking third since it's not such a black and white risk/reward system of offense in the game.

I also love the cpu conceding defeat when you have them bottled up and playing the ball out.

I tried searching to see if anyone has said anything about this but has anyone noticed in replays of goals, the bottom of the net and what looks like the poles come up off the ground? It's a very small thing about the game, but it just bugs the crap out of me. Seems to happen every time with the box style compared to the slanted net style.

It's just a different style of net, it's supposed to do that. You'll see it every once in a while watching soccer.

However, do I think that it happens a little too often in this game, if that's what you're inferring.

I just had the most amazing match in FIFA probably ever. It was Barcelona vs Dortmund(me) in the Champion's League Group Stage. I made all kinds of strategy changes like making my CM's defend tightly instead of trying to get into the passing lanes, made my RB stay back and defend as well as both my CB's without joining attack in anticipation of how good they are in attack. Luckily for me, Suarez was out with an injury so he was replaced by Pedro, although as we know he is no slouch. Game started tight with both clubs exchanging possession, then about 10 minutes into the game, I managed to turn the corner on their back line close to the box with my CAM (a created player, rated 83OVR) and as I'm leaving them in the dust, Mathieu slide tackles and fouls him. I was expecting a yellow because the foul didn't seem that bad, but he got a red! While I knew I had an advantage on them, I was still quite weary and played it safe but eventually I was able to score with the same player. However, Barca being Barca, not too much later they got in between my back line and Pedro was able to score off a pass from Messi. 1-1 at the half.

Game continued to be pretty tense, with me now controlling a bit more of the ball because of their lack of a man, but late into the game, Barcelona decides to press me to break the deadlock. I scrambled to get the ball into the empty spaces but they kept getting it back and pressing forward but I was able to fend them off. Then right about the 85 minute, they pressed so far up that it left Immobile completely unmarked and onside a little further down from the half line. I got him the ball quickly, then passed to my CAM who was even more open after Pique got close to Immobile and I managed to get a 1 on 1 chance but Bravo saved it. As they managed to control the ball after the save, the weirdest sequence happened: I pressed Dani Alves I think with Immobile on the right flank and the ball became loose but by Alves last touch (think it was a last effort pass), so Bravo can't just pick the ball up. Instead of kicking it away, he misplaces the position of the ball and has to slide kick it, sending the ball almost straight upwards instead of away. As all this is happening, I rush the ball with Immobile, who proceeds to jump for a header as the ball is high in the air and connects and sinks it into the net! While Bravo had better position, he couldn't touch the ball again since it was him that had already kicked it away, or at least tried. Being up 2-1, I keep them off goal for the last 5 minutes + 5 extra minutes and we win!

I went into the game feeling happy if we ended up in a tie, but came out with the craziest win ever. So, so, sooooo sweet!
