Another MLB 12 The Show game update arrived this morning, bring it up to version 1.16. Check below for the details and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Schedules and box score were misaligned for a portion of the games for certain teams.
  • Occasionally when loading into online games, an empty field (home plate view) would be shown and user has to PS button out.
  • Analog bunting interface, versus a behind the pitcher view in online games would cause a frequent freeze when the user on offense bunted.

I'm pretty sure the blanket statements are all about franchise / RTTS files made BEFORE 1.06 not after.

From what I've seen a majority of people who started their files after 1.06 haven't had any issue (except in some rare cases).

Gotcha. Well, probably good to get that info back out again. Honestly, in reading through the thread, it wasn't always clear to me, so others who are in the clear might be waiting to dl this patch because they think it will nerf their game.

Thanks for the clarification.

It sounds like you are in the SAVED DATA utility, instead of GAME DATA utility. FYI, the patch info looks like this:

And your game install (10GB option in my case), like this:

Both are located in the GAME DATA utility. If you are seeing game saves, you are in the wrong section.

Yeah but in real life, they played on thursday not friday.

Same here. I started a new franchise after 1.06 (with Knight's rosters) following multiple freezing issues.

Now post-1.16 I'm thankfully not having any freezing (yet). Even with my franchise in late August. The box score freezing that plagued my last franchise appears gone.

However, the in-game decimal bug while showing scores is still there.

Sorry if this has been asked but has anyone skipped downloading this last patch?

I only have the release day patch. I want it but not bad enough to lose everything. I realize I can avoid a lockup by simply just backing up on a flashdrive, but if that happened I'd have to completely unpatch the system.

Since we do not know exactly what the release day patch addressed, I'm not sure the upside outweighs the possible downside here. Not yet, anyway.

All we know for sure is 1.16 freezes RTTS and any Franchise that are past the All Star Game.

Unfortunately these teams made the playoffs and we (Redsox) didn't

Oh...yikes.

I could have swore others said that even though the standings "looked wrong" they accurately advanced the appropriate teams.

Thanks for sharing.

Did you PM your file to Russell_SCEA?

So I did some more testing and simming with my franchise started after 1.06 was installed. Cross Platform saves look like they are definitely working now. Which is huge for me. Only reason I bought a Vita. Still no freezes or wonky standings.

30 team franchise, started after 1.06 install.

A thought just occured to me: Is it possible that people that are experiencing freezes AFTER uninstalling the patches are having problems because the roster file AND/OR Franchise file NEEDED the release day patch to continue their progress without hitches???

Meaning, if my Franchise file is a release day patched Franchise, but my PS3 doesn't have ANY PATCHES, that the issues happening with 1.06 to 1.16 freezes are essentially happening to no-patch to release day patch files?

Like, this issue is happening to any Franchise file that gets forced to a retroactive Game Data Additional Content; essentially as if this problem has existed all along and now we are only seeing it because the masses are uninstalling?

Am I making sense???

I think so.

There was actually a patch on release day. 1.05 (I THINK)
If you delete the patches, I would assume this deletes too.

That could be causing issues.
Obviously they knew there were issues before the game was released, hence the reason they issues a patch on release day.

That wasn't my point. A release day patch isn't unusual at all. I was refering to people that are still freezing after deleting all the patches. Here's what I meant:

1. I DL 1.05 and start my Franchise (back up on zip drive).
2. I DL 1.06 and continue my Franchise.
3. I DL 1.16 and continue my Franchise, but decide to delete all patches.
4. I delete all patches, and continue my 1.05 franchise taken from my zip drive.
5. I keep seeing freezes, freezes I never saw at all until 1.06 or 1.16.

I'm *thinking* the reason *might* have to do with continuing a 1.05 Franchise on an unpatched system. The same (or similar) freezing as a person trying to continue a 1.06 franchise on an unpatched system, or a person trying to continue a 1.06 franchise on a 1.16 system. Compatability issues.

Is it possible that no matter what, if you patched after safely backing up, continuing on an unpatched system (regardless of which patch the Franchise had when zip driving it) could possibly expose people to problems?

I was just saying that maybe the reason we never read about 1.05 Franchises freezing was because no one tried to change their update (meaning uninstalling the one and only patch and continuing their patched Franchise).

I didn't even think of that. That certainly is well within the realm of possibility. Good catch!!

But what I meant was that if you delete the patches, will that not also delete 1.05 and give you a raw unpatched game?

That raw unpatched game could have been so ice cold and thats why they patched it on release day.

Right. It will.

But if you then try to continue a seemingly "safe" 1.05 franchise file on an unpatched system, will that TOO cause compatability freezing issues?

BTW, I edited my last post to trying and be clearer.

Yeah I think we are pretty much saying the same thing, just in a different way.

Gripe. I set up sounds of the show (ps3), and when some sounds are cued the stock sound and the custom sound are played. I remember this sucking last year too. I'd love an option to shut off the stock sounds.
