This isn't a buy to me if this is the game speed. WTF is up with the throwing? This is unplayable like that for me. Everything is a slow floater. Brutal.

Another thing is Ian said this demo is also missing 3 weeks of tuning. Something to also keep in mind. I can't wait for the retail. This will probably be my most played Madden since 05.

Still some rough spots here and there, but nothing that is major, imo.

You are right. People think that when they control a linemen, they expect to get a sack every time they decide to go after the QB. I'm glad that the pass protection is stronger! I hope this translate the same way for online!

There are 4 different game speeds in the retail.

I just said I hope it isn't an OS member, because I would think that nobody here would do something like this.. thats all

There will be a speed slider (but really, imo the speed is perfect though I can see casual fans not liking it).

Anyways, some more impressions...

*Really like how the WR's don't automatically move to get the ball (a la madden 09). They actually move at a realistic pace and don't get a speed burst all of a sudden to get the ball.

*Jukes/Spins have been improved and feel very natural. Very reminiscent of last gen.

*The game is definitely harder. I still haven't won a game yet (came close a few times though). Whatever difficulty level you usually play madden on you'll probably would want to take it down a one setting in madden 10.

*There's a whole bunch of new animations that make the game feel new/fresh.

*The game is very balanced. The AI will mess up. For example, the game was tied 17-17 in the 4 qtr. The CPU went to kick a FG that was 40 yards. I thought it was going to go in but it didn't (though I lost in OT). It's nice to see that since in madden 09 they would never miss a field goal.

*No more suction sacking!!! Yesss... lol. I also really like the pressure rumble feature. NCAA 10 has it but it feels better in Madden 10 since you can feel the direction.

*When the CPU did a fake punt, the camera was still set up in the kicking view. Don't know if that was intentional but it was pretty interesting.

*Some of the cutscenes can go overboard, in particular the ones where the refs decide whether or not a play is a TD since you can sometimes tell whether it is or not yourself (in some cases it's not even close to the point in which it has to be questioned).

*Pro Tak animations are great but I was expecting more control. It sometimes feel as if you are stuck. Nothing really major but yeah... just something I thought would have more control.

Overall I'm really liking the game. Going to download the 1 minute demo just to see how the game plays in the snow.

just finished my first game on the demo. i used the steelers and won 17-6. the cardinals dominated the first half but could only manage the two field goals. after trailing at the half 6-3 i got my **** together and put up two td drives. this is the first madden on 360 that feels playable to me. i will list what i thought was good and what i think needs help.

The GOOD:
1. graphics are really good.
2.the animations are much improved, much more variety.
3. i like the gamespeed. it could be a touch faster for my taste but the speed slider will let me tune that to my liking when the real game comes out.
4. qbs being hit as they throw and still being able to make a decent pass, or a high wobbily interception waiting to happen.
5. the cpu went deep! first play on the demo warner hooked up with boldin for 20 yards. second play they hooked up for 25. very nice to see that.
6. the running game will make an appearance on both the good and the bad lists. the good is that the new juke cuts are excellent. with the slowed down speed you can really take a second find the hole and make a hard cut into the hole. it actually makes the 3-4 yard carries feel good because you need to work for them now. no more running straight ahead and waiting for a tackle animation to gain you the yards.
7. the cpu doesn't always know your play anymore! i only noticed this once but it was nice to see. i was on the 4 and came out in an ace formation. the cards came out in their goalline set. i had a run on so i formation audibled to a pa pass and much to my surprise the cardinals did not audible to a 4-3 or anything like that. this is huge to me! it really took away from the game when i could audible from pass to run multiple times and watch the cpu change their defense to stop what i wanted to run each time.

one general thing that just looked really cool was one play i tried to go deep to holmes but got hit as i threw. the ball went straight up in the air and was only going to go about 5 yards past the LOS willie parker happened to be in the area and he found the ball and got himself under it with a beautiful catch animation that just looked so realistic i couldn't get over it. but seeing a nothing play turn into a 15 yard gain is great and something i would expect to see occasionally in the nfl.

The Bad:
1. the running game makes its appearance on the bad list because the blocking logic is still inconsistent. it is especially noticeable on outside runs. i had one play with parker running to the outside and the guard and tackle pulling to lead block. the first problem is that one of the two lineman went to pull and then got stuck in a blocking animation with the downlineman that starts the play off on the wrong foot as i now have one less blocker leading me than i should. next the other lineman gets out in front and has his choice of two guys to block. instead he turns around and goes to block someone behind the play! not acceptable at all.
2. i know the running animation gets beat to death, but it sticks out like a sore thumb with the slow game speed. when i player is running by himself say on the start of a kickoff they just look like they are moving with no sense of urgency.
3. interceptions being dropped. both sides dropped a pass or two that should have easily been a int. maybe they nurfed the ints for the demo, i have no idea. but now that those crazy no look warp ints are gone i feel like the passes that actually hit defenders in the hands should have a higher int rate.
4. maybe it was because i was playing the cards but it felt like they never tried to get the run game going at all. they probably only ran 4-5 running plays the entire game.

well thats my initial impression of the demo. i am glad to see that madden is finally playable for me on 360. i am looking forward to the final release.

Thats good to know. Because its hard to see how anyone can get enjoyment out of the way it is in this demo. Which would probably be even worst online.

LOL at the user running out the pocket on every play.

Coming from someone who hasn't purchased Madden since 2005 on PS2 (didn't enjoy any of the next gen offerings), I have come away very impressed after playing the extended demo. I've purchased NCAA each of the past three years and have NCAA 10 so that is my base of comparison.

The first thing I immediately notice in gameplay is the game speed. I'm not for sure how Maddenites feel about the slower gameplay, but I'm absolutely loving it! You can find and hit holes in the run game and I actually feel like I am in control. Catching (amazing over the shoulder grabs WHILE tracking the ball) as well as passing seem sooo much more realistic in comparison, unlike NCAA where I always feel pressured or rushed to make plays. It just feels like Madden allows you to play football and not a game within the game, if that makes sense.

I think the graphics go without say. The level of presentation upgrade from NCAA is just, just, I can't even explain it. The different cut scenes, the animations, the crowd, you name it, is on a whole 'nother level. When I had Chris Wells get injured in the first quarter, you could see him grimacing and it was so detailed in how he interacted with the trainers when they came out to check him. I see Roethlisberger on the phone after a scoring drive; teams heading into the tunnel at the half (although they were majorly covered up by the halftime overlay); Warner on the phone just after the half in preparation for the opening drive; fly overs; team entrances with tunnel inflatables and smoke -- the whole nine....just great! Although, I do wonder if the entrances are just for the Superbowl, or if those will be included in regular season games too. Finally, there was no commentary, but I'll chalk that up to being a demo build.

I've read through all the pages in this thread and no one has mentioned the subs. That could be because this was a feature in previous versions of the game, but coming from NCAA (absolutely no formation subs) this is amazing to me! While on defense I notice that Pago Togafau is turning yellow as all get out. I hit the RB to go to subs, select him in the formation screen and can immediately choose another player to give him a breather!! Again, sorry if that was in previous versions but to a NCAA gamer this is HUGE.

Now if you're a hardcore Madden player then you may or may not be blown away at first glance, but as someone who has primarily played the NCAA series, I'm astounded. With that, there may be some gameplay issues still in existence; suction blocking, rocket catch, to name a few which I've read in here, but I'll leave that to the hardcore folks because I'm just not that well versed in the series to be able to pick that stuff out.

All in all, after playing the demo I must say that I'm glad Gamestop gave me that $40 trade in promo card when purchasing NCAA, because the Madden team (Ian and company) just might have got back another fan of the series.

I hope this is the case too. Especially with manual rushes.
