I think this misses the point though. Certainly, 3 years ago 2k wasn't advertising that they were going to scrap their plan mid-stream because they'd made some horrible design decisions. Likewise, I am not sure they deserve the benefit of the doubt here; who's to say we won't be seeing this platform handed off yet again in 2011 half-way to the finish line.

Say what you will about SCEA's baseball franchise- but they have a gameplan- and they have stuck to it. It's one of the biggest reasons the game is as good as it is......And 2K should be right there with them had they not mishandled this asset so poorly. Just really frustrating.

You're absolutely right but no one really knows what happens. Think, 2 years ago, everyone was sold on what Brinkman was bringing to the series and 2k7 was a solid base to work off of.

Either way, those that are frustrated have every right to be so. But the team in place is showing they have a decent base to work off of going forward.

It's sort of like MVP 2003. It wasn't the best baseball title but the base was there, and the expectations were high. Sure, there's plenty of "stupid" in the demo... but there's plenty to be excited about as well.

It's still pretty bad to release a demo of this quality but you would have to know their hands were tied. If they don't release a demo, they are hiding something. They do, and it's this bad.

It's a lose-lose.

Look at the videos Steve posted as that looks much better than the demo we played.
Oh, I totally agree, and I actually don't even think the demo is poor quality. There is a definite difference in, at the very least, collision detection between the demo and the videos Steve has posted. And HE doesn't even have the final code, right?

I'm enjoying the demo. I was just wondering how much time they've probably had to iron out some of the quirky things that people have said they've seen.

Oh, I agree- and I have a PS3- so as you can imagine, I am not going to be conflicted with a purchasing choice this year....But looking at the big picture as a prospective 360 owner, how long do you keep walking behind the kid who is constantly tripping on their own shoelaces. Because as good or bad as everyone here perceives this game to be- it should be much further along by now.

I hear ya nomaaaah. It's a shame it took them this long to get the game to VC in the first place. They should have been working on the game for a while now.

That development studio has proven to put out games teeter enough on the brink of realism where the general public enjoys the game.

I haven't enjoyed a MLB game from 2k since ESPN 2k4. And while I can easily see this game won't be perfect, much like MVP 2003... there is an upside there. It has me, as a baseball fan, excited.

EDIT: bah is right in his usual, curt way. Back to the impressions.

Though i love the demo, nothing has wowed me in sports games at all, maybe the graphics on the show but that it the graphics.

It stinks that it takes to long to develop games and also it stinks that VC is finally working on the game cause they have the resources now.

Here is what really worries me is the fact that we are on what year 4 of the 360 and hadnt had a decent baseball game or even football, hockey yes finally. What worries me is that the new systems are coming out soon which means back to square 1 soon that blows. And games havent even used the tru power of the 360 i think the sports gaming is in serious trouble and i wish there was a way to fix it but there is not. The economy, what fans demand vs profit vs politics, it's all relevant since the 360. Shame really.

Never Mind...Back to impressions!

My impression of the game is that it isn't fun. I found myself only 3 innings into it thinking how long could I hold out on not playing some multiplayer Ghost Recon.

Pitching is a chore, batting almost as bad, graphics look like 2k3 set in "HD," camera doesn't follow ball.

There were some nice touches - crowd seemed pretty next-gen as they weren't just zombies of the past. Fluff is just fluff though when a game isn't fun to play.

Your defintly right i love the pitching mechanics in this game, someone said that you dont have to do both motions to pitch you only have to hold the first part and just let go. You can do that but you will not have the velocity or the break on it, you might get lucky but the computer will smack the crap out of it and i tested it a couple of times.

Also i probably will go back to the 2k8 version seems a little to easy for me but i think if i can adjust how fast it goes then that might be a different story. I like the hitting to might love the cursor though since i loved it in 2k3. After this pitching mechanic was implemented i can never go back to button pressing, just cant.

2012 by most estimates, the new systems have longer life spans as adoption rates are not near as fast as the old ps2 gen, imagine how far PC will be ahead by then?
Dont be surprise if you see the new xbox come out before that.

damn that's a shame cause i feel like moving the joystick feels good and fun and actually makes me concentrate more then simple button pressing.

Im a fantatic about baseball, and stoked about this game. however the ratings in the game are diffrent then screen shots, seems like every poisition player is up two player ratings overall, for example bj upton is 81 on the screenshot but 83 in the game. Which is Which?

David Price only throws 91..is this because he is a starter now..or is it wrong?

Great job, i think everyone deserves a lot of credit becasue it looks like a great game

ya that too.. I always thought my button pressing was pretty fluid. I guess he's just talking out of his *** as usual

ya maybe.. I remember back in the day, I would take the xbox controller apart and clean it when the buttons didnt feel as fluid as they should be. Maybe that too

simulating pitch motion? i dont see how any of the stick movements simulate the way a pitcher throws in real life
