Seahawks defense forces four turnovers in 26-6 win over Chicago

Seattle - Turnovers were the name of this game on Sunday night as the Seattle Seahawks used four of them to overcome a sub-par offensive effort, as they defeated the Chicago Bears 26-6 at CenturyLink Field on Sunday. The Seahawks intercepted Jay Cutler three times, and also recovered a fumble as they kept the Bears out of the end zone for the entire contest. The Seahawks offense while not flashy, took care of the ball throughout and got another steady performance from Marshawn Lynch and the running game, as they were able to grind out points when the defense gave them opportunities. The Seahawks now head south for their first ever game at the 49ers fancy new digs at Levi's Stadium, as they face the San Francisco 49ers with the division championship on the line, and a first round bye game as well.

Game Notes
The Seahawks lead the all-time series 10-6 over the Bears, and have won 3 of the last 4 against them. The last loss to Chicago was in the divisional round of the playoffs in 2010. All four of those games were played at Soilder Field. The Bears did win the last time they visited CenturyLink Field back in 2009.

Players to Watch:

Offense:

Brandon Marshall - WR: One of the top recievers in the NFL today, his match-up with Richard Sherman will be one to watch all day in this game.

Defense:

Charles Tillman - CB: When you hear talk of the best corner's in the game, for some reason Tillman's name doesn't come up very often, but his knack for forcing turnovers is uncanny, and the Seahawks will need to be on their guard carrying the ball on Sunday.

Prediction: I think this is nail in the coffin time for the Bears, while they will no doubt be pulling out all the stops to keep their playoff hopes alive, I just don't see them having the horses to stay with Seattle, who still has everything to play for as well. Marshawn should have another field day against this defense.

Seahawks outlast Redskins 29-21

Landover - The Seattle Seahawks secured a huge road win on Sunday. It was never easy in the nation's capital, with a steady rain throughout the contest hindering both teams passing games, the running game, and defense ruled the day, and in the end the best rushing attack in the league was able to outlast a valiant effort from RGIII and the 'skins. After the aforementioned Griffin busted off a 59 yard touchdown run in the second quarter, the Hawks were down 14-0 and were quickly in damage control, but the gameplan didn't change, and the Seahawks were able to put up 13 unanswered to close out the half only down 1. Seattle then got an early three and out to start the second half, and then go down and score again to take their first lead. They then had to grind out 3 FG's in the fourth quarter to finally put enough distance to preserve the win. The Seahawks now head home for what might be the final time this year to take on the Chicago Bears at CenturyLink Field.

Game Notes
The Redskins lead the all-time series over Seattle 11-7, Seattle did win the last meeting which was of course the 2012 Wild Card Playoff game where Robert Griffin III tore his ACL in the fourth quarter of what ended up a 24-14 win for Seattle.

Players to Watch:

Offense:

Robert Griffin III - QB: The Redskins electric play caller once again has his team marching towards the playoffs, after missing the first part of the year with an elbow injury, RG3 has come on strong, and will be a big problem for Seattle on Sunday.

Defense:

Brian Orakpo - OLB: One of the best pass rushers in the game, Orakpo plays linebacker in the skins 3-4 defense, but make no mistake, he is coming for the quarterback on almost every play. Seattle will need to watch out for him on Sunday.

Prediction: On paper this match up looks a lot like the Giants game last week, What actually happened on the field last Sunday though was quite alarming for anyone playing the Hawks right now. Statistically these teams are about even, but the way the Seahawks are clicking right now stats may have to go out the window, same with the home field edge for Washington. I like Seattle in this one, but don't expect it to look like last Sunday.

SEAHAWKS MAKE STATEMENT

Defense holds Giants to only 164 yards as they annihilate New York 48-3

Seattle - The Seahawks defense was flying all over the field Sunday, and the Giants west coast trip quickly turned into a disaster on Sunday, as Marshawn Lynch got off and ran all over the field on the Giants for 166 yards, and Seattle ran up the scoreboard as well with the final tally 48-3. This is definitely not the same Seahawks team we saw lose to the Rams in week 2, This Seahawks defense was as fast as ever, and was sniffing out the ball like a shark smelling blood. In fact New York should feel lucky that they only had three turnovers, as the three fumbles the Seahawks forced were all recovered by New York, the fact that this game could have gotten even worse is flat out scary. The rest of the NFC will doubt be taking note of this game, as it also greatly hinders New York's chances at securing a first round bye in the playoffs, and of course for Seattle, as many fans I'm sure are fully aware on top of this game, the Minnesota Vikings helped out in a big way by defeating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Seahawks now control their own destiny to a division championship and a first round playoff bye if they can win out. Of course that won't be a cake-walk like this game was, and it starts with a cross country trip to Washington D.C. next weekend to take on RGIII snd the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field.

Game Notes
The Giants lead the all-time series against the Seahawks 9-7, However Seattle has won the last two meetings against the Giants both on the road. This is the Giants first trip to CenturyLink Field since 2010 when they drubbed the Seahawks 41-7.

Players to Watch:

Offense:

Victor Cruz - WR: The former undrafted free agent has become one of the best receivers in the league. Sherman and the rest of the Legion of Boom need to be focused if they dont want to see a salsa dance at the CLink on Sunday.

Defense:

Jason Pierre-Paul - DE: Unlike Cruz, JPP was a first round pick with high expectations that he has been able to live up to, making him one of the most dynamic, and athletic pass rushers in the league.

Prediction: The Seahawks seem to have gained their footing and are playing some great football right now, however I think the Giants are a slightly better football team, and unlike past seasons, we've seen teams go into CenturyLink and beat the Seahawks in high profile match-ups this year. I think Seattle gets New York's best shot on Sunday, and unfortunately I feel their best shot is slightly better than the Hawks'.

Seahawks talks with Thomas at stalemate?

According to numerous sources within the orginazation, talks with all-pro safety Earl Thomas on a contract extension have fizzled out in the last few days, now no need to worry Hawk fans as Thomas is almost a certain lock to get the franchise tag if a deal cannot be reached, nonetheless it would be better for both parties if a deal can get done before the tag needs to be slapped on.

Hawks hold on for 37-21 win

Atlanta - The Seahawks got off to another hot start on Sunday before having to hold on for a 37-21 over the Atlanta Falcons. Seattle's offense was able to drive the ball down the field at will at the beginning of the game putting up 14 quick points in the first quarter, then after two Falcons turnovers led to two more scores for the Hawks, it was 28-0 midway through the second, and it looked like Seattle would coast to a victory as the boos rained down in the Georgia Dome, but the Falcons mounted a comeback shortly after that and started to make the game interesting down the stretch, still 10 points would be as close as the Falcons could get it as two field goals by Steven Hauschka in the fourth quarter stretched out the Seahawks lead for good. The Seahawks now head home for a big time showdown with the NFC East leading New York Giants coming up Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

Game Notes
Seattle holds a 10-6 advantage all time in the series against Atlanta. This will be the third season in a row that they have had a road game in Atlanta. Last season the Seahawks took the week 10 matchup last year in overtime 16-13.

Players to Watch:

Offense:

Tony Gonzalez - TE: The future hall of famer is enjoying another fine season for the Falcons. The sure-fire first ballot lock is #1 all time in Receptions, Yards, and Touchdowns among tight ends.

Defense:

Asante Samuel - CB: Keeping the theme of veterans for the Falcons, Samuel is the leader among an otherwise young group of corners in the Atlanta Secondary.

Prediction: These two teams are almost even when you look on paper except on glaring weakness. The Falcons 29th ranked run defense is going to have to figure out a way to stop the NFL's leading rusher Marshawn Lynch. If they can't then the Seahawks will have the advantage on Sunday, which is what I suspect will happen.

Seattle upends Cardinals 33-19

Glendale - The Seattle Seahawks won their 5th straight over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday with a 33-19 victory. Quarterback Russell Wilson again had a spotty day passing the ball, but the Seahawks rushing game and defense were enough to win the day. On the flip side the Cardinals could not get anything going on the ground, as the league's worst rushing attack accounted for only 19 yards on the day. Aaron Murray tried to make up for it slinging the ball 56 times for a total of 331 passing yards, but in the end it wasn't enough to overtake Seattle, who moved to 8-3 on the year. The Seahawks now head to Atlanta to take on the 6-5 Falcons in the Georgia dome next Sunday.

Game Notes
Seattle has won four straight against Arizona all in very convincing fashion with the combined score 185-37 in those meetings. Seattle won the earlier match up this season 31-13, and now leads the all-time series 16-15 over the Cardinals

Players to Watch:

Offense:

Larry Fitzgerald - WR: Fitz's #'s have dwindled over the years because of inconsistent quarterack play from the Cardinals. It's a shame because one has to wonder how great he could have been if Arizona could have found someone to throw him the ball.

Defense:

Patrick Peterson - CB: Dangerous as ever, Peterson is not only one of the best shutdown corner's in the game, but he also doubles as a deadly kick returner, and will even line up at receiver in some packages for the Cardinals.

Prediction: Even though Seattle had to fight more than many thought last week, lets not forget they were up 24-6 in that contest, and maybe took their foot off the gas more than anything. Also Dallas is at least still playing with some fight this season, Arizona is clearly at this point the worst team in the league. Head coach Bruce Arians is probably on the way out, so couple all that with how the games between these two teams have gone lately, and you are looking at a not so pretty picture come Sunday.

Seahawks look to extend Thomas

After the Seahawks were able to lock up one member of the Legion of Boom a couple weeks ago, now there are reports out of the VMAC that the Seahawks are looking to extend pro-bowl safety Earl Thomas as well. It will be a coup for the Seahawks if they can get E.T. to agree to a more cap friendly long term deal because there is still the big time contract for Russell Wilson that will be coming soon.
