For the third time in franchise history, and the second year in a row, the Seattle Seahawks will compete in the biggest game of them all, the Super Bowl. This will be the fifth appearance for the Buffalo Bills who's last appearance in the game was in 1993. Each team will be looking to capture the first world championship for their respective franchise.

Players to Watch:
Offense:

E.J. Manuel - QB: Since he stepped onto the scene last year, E.J. has drawn comparisons to his counterpart in this game Russell Wilson. Now flourishing in his second year, he has managed to duplicate Russell's feat of leading a team to the Super Bowl in his sophomore season.
Defense:

Jairus Byrd - FS: You could debate all day long between Byrd and Seahawks Earl Thomas as to who the best safety in the league is. Nonetheless Byrd is a ball hawking specialist who will be looking to come up with a big time play Sunday night for the Bills.
Prediction: The Buffalo Bills have pretty much copied Seattle's blueprint to success. Big time running attack, fast young defense, and an electric young quarterback. This game will be a test to see which one of these two teams pulled it off better. The Bills have been the hottest team all season only suffering one loss, and not to be homerish, but I'd pick them against any NFC squad, except this one. Seattle is the one team who plays the same way that can match Buffalo's youth and speed. Also factor in the experience, and pain of losing this game last year, and as good as the Bills have been this year, Seattle has the edge.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Seahawks defense and special teams carries team back to the Super Bowl.
Seattle - The Seattle Seahawks are headed back to the Super Bowl. Even with an offense that was shaky all day, the defense forced some key turnovers that were able to be turned into points, and the special teams provided some big time help in the return game to carry the Seahawks past the Minnesota Vikings 31-13. Adrian Peterson did get his racking up 142 yards rushing, but his fumble in the second quarter set the Hawks up for a field goal and a 10-3 lead. The Vikings followed that with a three and out, and then Josh Cribbs shot some electricity into the CLink, as he took the ensuing punt all the way back for a touchdown that seized all the momentum for the Seahawks, and they never looked back. Marshawn Lynch was able to get going even against the Number one run defense all regular season as he nearly matched AP with 136 yards of his own. Now the Seahawks run is nearly complete as they head to Super Bowl forty-nine, to take on the AFC Champion Buffalo Bills, who are on a story book type run of their own. The Seahawks will be looking to make the third trip a charm, and erase the demons of last years defeat to the New England Patriots.

For the second year in a row the Seattle Seahawks are hosting the NFC Championship game with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. All four teams left in the tournament have never won a super bowl championship guaranteeing us that for the first time in one of these teams histories, they will be able to hoist the Lombardi Trophy and call themselves World Champions.

Players to Watch:
Offense:

Adrian Peterson - HB: An obvious no brainer here. Peterson added to his already hall of fame resume by capturing the single season rushing record this year with 2,132 yards. No doubt he will be aiming to add a super bowl to that resume as well at the Seahawks expense.
Defense:

Jared Allen - DE: Getting up there in age, Allen still manages to get it done rushing the passer. He was once again among the league leaders in sacks this season.
Prediction: It's amazing how much these two teams mirror each other in statistically, and the style of play they put forth on gamedays. Minnesota's #1 rush defense may be enough to keep Marshawn Lynch in check, but their pass defense is a concern. A couple weeks ago I may have had doubts in Wilson's ability to expose this flaw, but the way he has played this postseason, and now that Hawks lucked into hosting this game as a #5 seed. I think they have enough to get it done, and get back to the promised land.

THIRD TIME'S A CHARM
Seahawks roll past 49ers 34-10, and into NFC Championship
Santa Clara - The Seattle Seahawks kept their march to Super Bowl 49 on track Saturday night by beating the San Francisco 49ers. After losing the two regular season meetings, and only two weeks after getting steam rolled by the Niners in the regular season finale, few saw this one coming, but the third time out against the 49ers proved to be enough for the Seahawks, who gave the Niners a dose of their own medicine, by forcing turnovers, and running the ball down their throats. It was the second year in a row Seattle has dashed San Francisco's playoff dreams, and now puts the Hawks one win away from getting back to the Super Bowl for a second straight season. Now the Hawks will sit back on Sunday and await the winner of the Vikings/Packers match-up. A win for Green Bay and the Seahawks will travel to Lambeau Field next week, but no doubt many of the 12th man, and Seahawks themselves are holding out hope for a Vikings upset. That would put the NFC Championship game at CenturyLink Field next Sunday.

For the third time this year the Seahawks and 49ers will hook up. This time with a berth in the NFC Championship on the line. San Francisco won both regular season meetings this year 13-9, and 30-8. This is the second year in a row they have met in the playoffs, dashing San Francisco's Super Bowl dreams last year.

Defense:

Aldon Smith - LB Smith had a sack and was wreaking havoc on the Seahawks last time these teams met. They will have to contain him this time to win.
Prediction: The Seahawks have not been able to get anything done on offense against the Niners this year. I think they will do better, but will it be enough to finally topple San Francisco? As hard as it is to beat a team three times in a year, I think that San Fran gets it done.

Seahawks soar over Falcons 41-21
Atlanta - The Seahawks piled up 490 yards of total offense on Saturday. Russell Wilson had 4 total touchdowns, and Marshawn Lynch helped the Seahawks to over 200 yards rushing, as the Seahawks blew past the The Falcons in the Georgia Dome. When Matt Ryan's third TD pass of the night hit Harry Douglas to put Atlanta up 21-10 midway through the second. Thoughts of another playoff heart break at the hands of the Dirty Birds surely crept into Seahawks fans minds, but that would be the last time the Falcons would find pay dirt, as the Seahawks put up 31 unanswered points, shutting the Falcons out in the second half to preserve the victory. Now the Seahawks must wait for the result of tomorrow's other NFC wild card game between the Vikings and Giants to find out if they will be traveling to Green Bay or San Francisco for their next game.

Players to Watch:
Offense:

Julio Jones - WR: He has replaced Roddy White as the clear number one target for Matt Ryan on this team. He is a deep ball threat like none other, and a match-up nightmare even for elite corners like the Seahawks Richard Sherman.
Defense:

Osi Umenyiora - DE: Osi is getting up there in years, but he is still a top pass rusher, and will be after Russell Wilson on Saturday.
Prediction: The Falcons have improved greatly since their regular season match-up with Seattle. In fact they haven't lost since, and ended up running away with their division to gain the opportunity to host this game, but unfortunately for them, their one weakness, is still the Seahawks strength. If they can't stop the Seahawks rushing attack again, then expect this game to go much like the first.

Santa Clara - The San Francisco 49ers elite defense set the tone in this match up, and their solid runnig game kept the ball away from the Seahawks for most of the afternoon. Two defensive touchdowns blew the score wide open for San Francisco, and it all led to a dominating performance that left little doubt as to who the class of the NFC West was this year. Although the Seahawks defense actually held up very well, they finally succumbed to constant bad field position, and fatigue from being on the field almost 40 minutes. The Niners just kept grinding away with their running attack while their defense wouldn't let Marshawn Lynch and the Seahawks go anywhere. A fumble return, and an Interception return in the first half opened the gap between the two. Forcing Seattle to get out of their run first mold, as Lynch had a season low 12 carries. While the Season is not over the Seahawks as they had already clinched a playoff spot, the road back to the Super Bowl will be quite daunting now, as they must hit the road for their playoff journey to take on the Atlanta Falcons, a team they beat in Atlanta earlier this season.

This is exactly what the schedule makers were hoping for when they slated this match up for week 17. 1 game to decide the NFC west between two power house teams. The winner gets a first round bye, and possibly home field throughout, while the other has to hit the road for their quest to reach the Super Bowl.

Players to Watch:
Offense:

Colin Kaepernick - QB: Colin has emerged as one of the best passers in the game as he is top 5 in the NFL in most passing categories, but no mistake he can still kill you with his legs as well making him a nightmare matchup for anybody.
Defense:

Aldon Smith - LB Aldon had a big day the last time these two teams squared off forcing the key turnover in the 49ers win.
Prediction: Back when these two teams faced off at the CLink in week 10, it looked like the 49ers had firmly seized the upper hand on their division foe. Since then however Seattle hasn't lost and have been playing lights out football, while the Niners have played well, but slipped back into a position to make this game way more urgent. San Fran hasn't had exactly a dominant home field advantage so far in their new digs, and right now the Seahawks just seem to be a tiny bit better, I think they continue to ride their wave of momentum into the playoffs with a huge road win.
