literally every time I log into Steam it's always an ordeal, I don't know what it is. Always use the correct password, yet I always end up having to refresh a bunch of times and reset my password.

ME FUCKING TOO! The app itself saves my password but on the website I have to go through that BS every. single. time.

It's applied automatically if you have it, so I'm able to click "Buy and download" and check to see if it is applied on the "Review & purchase" screen.

I don't know if there are any One Click Purchase options that would make it so you automatically buy the game by clicking "Buy and download" button though, so you might want to make sure you have that turned off first.

If you made an eligible purchase you should have got an email about a $5 promotional credit, so you could also check your inbox if you haven't deleted anything.

PayPal would involve you going to paypal.com, setting up an account, and linking either a credit card or a bank account and then sending a payment to my account.

It might, in retrospect, be easier to just have you gift me a Steam game of equivalent value in exchange for the Steam code I'd get from Amazon for Walking Dead.

Sony is apparently sending out $10 PSN codes to American PSN accounts. I'm not sure what the criteria are (ie if someone creates an account today, will they get one, etc), but if you're American and have either a PS3 or a Vita connected to PSN, couldn't hurt to check your PSN message box.

There was a code in mine.

Hmmm...many of my favorites are 4X games and I still find a lot of enjoyment in those. So non 4X TBS strategy games...

Unity of Command - A WWII Panzer-General type game. It has good reviews, though I found it a bit too "puzzley" for me.

King's Bounty - Kind of a modern-day successor to HOMM without the city building. Fun, colorful, good tactical TBS battles with spells! Probably my top recommendation if you've never played one before. There's a bunch in the series and all of 'em are good.

Frozen Synapse - Purely logical and tactical TBS game.

It's more of a 4X, but I still have to throw it out. Eador: Genesis is looks old, ugly and it positively brilliant. You can get it on GoG.

I only played single player. The AI is pretty tough.

Personally, I wouldn't pay anywhere near what they're asking for it. I think it's about a $10 game.

Oh, and Eador: Genesis is on sale at GOG this weekend for a whopping $3. Anyone who doesn't get it at that price is a fool. :)

I had a blast with Frozen Synapse. It's a solid single player game and tough like Blackadar said. My MP record leaves something to be desired but it was still pretty fun. A lot of us around here have it. I gave our a bunch of keys a couple years ago and I know a lot of guys on the FOFC Steam page own it as well.

I think the game still comes with 2 keys so you can give a copy away to someone to play against or go in with someone. It does go on sale from time to time as well, and it always comes with 2 keys.

It's a pretty good but not quite great RPG. Its strength is its combat system and is best played with a game pad. The story isn't anything special, and at times the question really shows it was made by a team put together to make an MMO. Ignoring sidequests might be a good idea and I've read the combat gets too easy late in the game if you power level early on.

I give credit to Amalur for being the least immersive game I've ever played. On the other hand, I can't really call it a bad game...it's just like, forcefully boring. I can't play it for more than a half-hour at a time, no matter how hard I try. It shoves so much crap at you, every second of the game, but makes it so easy to process, that I don't end up giving a flying shit about any of it. 80% of my time in that game seems to be spent clicking through various prompts (conversation, lore, harvesting, crafting), as fast as I can, without processing any of it.

I considered getting it at that price, but I think I'll wait for Dark Arisen which is the new version of Dragon's Dogma coming out with an expansion that you can only get through buying it as a full game (no DLC for some reason).

I really liked LA Noire (I haven't played Max Payne). I think I bought LAN by itself for $10 on a Steam sale at one time. It definitely has that Rockstar vibe, but I really liked the atmosphere. So count me as not trying to talk you out of it :D

I've been waiting to see what they would do to progress the LA Noire idea. For a first pass, I thought the game was stellar. It did devolve into repetition, but it did show a lot of promise with what they could do in the future.

Not sure if it was clearly understood, but it was for MP 3 which I think has generally received less favorable reviews compared to 1 or 2. Regardless, I bought in. Just chucking it in the pile with all the other games I've not gotten around to but will someday.

Steam has Morrowind Game of the Year edition on sale for the next ten hours for $6.79, two thirds off the normal price. It's an old game now but definitely very good, and there are quite a few mods for the game still around.

$14.96 for XBOX 360 and PS3 on amazon right now too (Game Of The Year edition).

The game is a fucking steal at that price. One of the best games (and best looking) i've played on the 360 period.

It was also surprising for me since i have no real love for the Batman character and kind of felt i'd had my fill after Arkham Asylum. Anyway, i highly recommend it.

No, it's not. The remake didn't add significant content and the much-needed patch is now tied up in litigation over the rights to the game. If you want BG, buy the original on GOG and patch it up with the widescreen mod.

I think its worth the $5 if the game is playable in the current state-I haven't bought myself yet given the lawsuit and such, but probably will now. You get the original game, an expansion, three new characters and a new adventure plus all the updates to the visuals and sound.

I got TOEE off gog last year and loved it. A great turn-based D&D game using 3rd edition rules. You need to download some other patches and stuff, but it wasn't too complicated and well worth it.

Assassin's Creed 2 is the best I'm the series with Brotherhood being a pretty close second. It improved in just about everything you could have wanted it to from the original, though I did think the assassination missions were done better in the original and missed the conversations between Altier and his victims.

I do wish the series would do away with the animus silliness. It would be better just being set in the past without the current day DNA memory stuff.

A different kind of bundle here-and with a local connection to me. Myrtle Beach actually has an RPG company-who would have guessed? They have produced quite a few products for the Open Gaming format. Even started producing a Monthly magazine called Open Gaming Monthly. It's called Fat Goblin Games.

Anyway one of the Co-owners wife has Crone Disease-which has taken a large financial toll on the family. According to a thread on Cheap Ass Gamer, there's going to be a B2G1 sale at Gamestop on all pre-owned merchandise. There's a debate about whether that sale will include hardware or not. The sale is supposed to be 10/18-10/20 and only for Power Up Rewards members.

Never fast sim.

Oddly enough, they call it connected careers but when playing it feels extremely disconnected. I don't feel like I am playing games in a 'connected' league as much as just a series of exhibition games.

Another oddity, play now and career play don't play the same. I tried to base my settings on a series of play now games and when I started my career with those settings it was impossible to play (the settings that get me relatively acceptable numbers in a career based game give me play now games with 70-65 scores, over 1200 yards of offense with average plays going for 15 yards and a half dozen turnovers or more).

I am having a decent time playing but that is probably because it's the only game in town.

I didn't love it as much as most people seem to, but it's well worth it for that price.

Count me as one of those that enjoyed it. At $10 and post-hype, I would agree that you'll be mildly surprised to pick it up and give it a go.

The <strike>expansion</strike> patch for Terraria is simply fantastic. So many awesome additions to the game. And it was pretty amazing to begin with.

Haven't tried that. Something tells me no, like last year. I haven't seen an option to not control the team.

Confirmed to not be an option in Madden 25. I rebought Madden 12 to get this feature back.

On another note, GOG is running a fun sale. Discounts of 75% - 80% on many games. The trick? It's like a WootOff. They'll put 100, 250 or 500 units on sale at a time for one game. When they're gone, they launch the next sale. Occasionally they'll even put 20 or so units up for free. It's actually pretty fun to watch it go by and I picked up Space Colony HD for like $2.50. Hoping for Startopia at some point...

The GOG "Fall Insomnia sale" is still going on though I think in its closing stages as most everything is labeled "Last Chance" on it. Right now there are about 11 left of a new game, Divinity: Dragon Commander, at 50% off for $22.49.

My purchases so far total less than $5. Sword of the Stars: The Pit, a great Sci-Fi Roguelike and a game I had forgotten about over the years, Age of Wonders 3. Missed out on all the free stuff with my slow computer.

I missed the Disney Infinity Starter Pack for the 360 during the Lightning Deal last Friday - all the other platforms were still in stock, but that one was long gone. Can't find it hardly anywhere anymore - WalMart has their PS3 one available online for $39 for Black Friday, but no 360 are available. Grrr.

I got lucky and caught the Wal-Mart pre-Black Friday sale ($37) on that one last week. Box was the last in the store and was a bit roughed up, so I elected to go ahead and let it be played with by my girls on the off chance there was anything broken. Everything worked and the girls enjoyed it, so we spent the money saved on buying the sidekick pack so that the girls can both play in the same game environments together. (For those that don't know, Infinity allows mixing and matching of the characters only within the sandbox/Toy Box part of the game. Any games based on the movies can only be played with by characters from those movies.) I'm trying to figure out if I want to brave the hordes to take advantage of GameSpot's BOGO offer on individual characters tomorrow.

Shazaam... that's quite a haul there. I'd be seriously tempted by it if I hadn't already gotten the sidekick set and (today with the BOGO at Gamestop) Jack Skellington and Violet. That said, it has everything up to Skyrim including all DLC. Upon closer inspection, Skyrim with DLC alone is going for $35 on Steam. I only own base game. Feeling a little better about the impulse.

Not really a discount but a very cheap game - I highly recommend Paper Sorceror for 5 bucks - it's a very old school. 80s style in some ways, RPG with a minimalist, noirish feel. I am absolutely loving it so far.

I've not played Rogue Legacy and Spelunky because they are too "platformy" for me-but I've enjoyed watching vids of them, so at this price was worth it to give them a chance for real.

The real winner for me however is Sword of the Stars:The Pit. A Sci-fi non-platform roguelike is something I've been searching for for a while. FTL is a close second however.
