The photo was taken from a few miles away by a paparazi sitting on a roadway overlooking private property, according to an article I saw yesterday and *gasp* a fox news piece on tv. The road is part of teh private property and there are laws in France regarding photos take of private property and people within it.

The crown probably should have ignored it and it would have gone away, however they have a very legal right to slap this reporter and his tabloid hard and fast and perhaps send a message to the rest of the freaks to back the hell off of people.

There's never been a defined line (aside from the obvious no pornography rule, which has been around forever). It's been made very clear there never WILL be a defined line (which I actually concur with Ben on that point).

Last couple of days, it's just been entirely random and inexplicable, with things being mysteriously deleted that aren't even close to borderline. And the predictable uproar occurs.

Like I said, if they violate the terms of service, I have no problems with them getting deleted. If they are violating someones internal morals, they can go suck a dick while flying a kite in an electrical storm.

2. The Board has long had a general standard of not behaving like an asshat. Pretty easy judgment to make of when an asshat alarm goes off.

3. If this leads to inconsistent modding, oh well. Sometimes you get a speeding ticket for going 8 mph over the limit and sometimes you don't for going 95 in a 55. We're mostly adults here (maybe all), and if you can't behave yourself on your own, you're probably not going to get much sympathy from any of the mods.

4 Finally, we're talking about pictures grabbed from other sites on the internet. Hard for me (speaking personally and not for other mods) to grasp the emotional attachment some seem to have in defending their "right" to post those.

I've grown weary of the mod wars over the years and have tried to sit them out for a long time.

But this quote is silly. So it's not the images that are in question, but rather that the photos do not fit with someone's definition of the thread's theme.

You are saying that the photos you deleted would be OK in a Hot or Not poll, but are not OK in the Cool Images thread. Correct? That is a brand new rule that we have not been made aware.

This makes it sound like one of two things happened: (1) someone got busted for perusing the thread at work or at home and complained to a mod for their troubles; or (2) the person that got busted was a mod and they decided to exorcise the demons by blaming the crowd.
