Because it's been talked about in the past by the devs. And RR himself has discussed this kind of feature.

I dont know if this is a new idea or has been kicked around before, but its the first time I've heard about it, and this is a phenomenal idea and would love to be able to make use of it.
I would like to think though that if attribute ratings are done 'right', like in custom historic rosters of old, that teams like the 1983 Mariners would stink it up if run by the CPU while teams like the 1984 Tigers would run roughshod over the rest of the league, if run by the cpu.
And so far in most cases in general, in my limited experiences that has been the case.

Fair enough, however I do believe that RR has discussed the feature I talked about as well.

IMO, the words Franchise Launch Pad have no correlation with Relocation. Considering how it doesn't seem MLB wants relocation in their games. I don't think that's likely.

Now considering the The Show Live feature was taken from NBA 2K where you can play today's games with today's lineups. And NBA 2k also added a few years ago the ability to start a franchise from the current day with current standings and stats. It seems likely that they might take that ides as well.

Also consider that "Launch Pad" could translate to "We get you going in franchise from current day aka Launch you into today."

All that makes it seem more likely than relocation feature.

Ramone also mentioned in one of the videos speeding up franchise playing and this would be one way.

Good points. While MLB might not want relocation in the game, Commissioner Manfred seems to be quite supportive of potential expansion in the future. Manfred has been vocal about MLB expanding.

You would have to play along with the real season for that to work though, so I doubt that will ever be implemented

Plus, how would you handle trades?

I mean, the way I see it is that it is an alternative universe from the time you start your franchise. I actually like seeing how thing play out differently.

No one cares it's in every other sports game

I don't really see your point.

Man, the revamped CAPs and player models could really breathe some life into OSFM. Can't wait to see that. Haven't used CAPs in years.

And grass tech? The grass is going to look good this year; no other way to interpret it.

New brands, new throws, better ball physics...so glad the team got to focus just on the PS4 this year. Now hopefully a new console doesn't come out in the next few years, thus sinking us into the same pattern again!

Do you guys think there will be any issues this time around with the year to year save and stat problems? Last year the career stats were all out of whack. Would you guys guess that this will be a smoother transition for the Y2Y saves?

I seem to recall the issues were related to the "new" stats that weren't in MLB 15, correct? So when you transferred over from 15 to 16, it had some whacked stats? I would think that should be better in 17, shouldn't it? (unless even more new stats are added that weren't in 16)...

To piggyback on Y2Y issues. I think the stats will be fine as 16 files will have all the stats that were added and 17 will have them this time around.

But player morale needs to work properly too. Last year every player from 15 files wanted to be a superstar/ace and it fixed itself once you got to the off-season.

I hope it is not an issue that has to fix itself again and that once you transfer files from 16 to 17 player morale is normal. I say this because all the season mode files I created for all those classic rosters have this issue and I only play them for one season then start over as they are not designed to go into an off-season (99% are 25 man rosters...40 man at the most not 90 man rosters).

So hopefully when I transfer files I moved from 14 to 15 to 16 but are still sitting in year one......the player morale will be normalized properly and not have to have the first off-season "fix" apply yet again.

In other words...hope they fixed that code bug for 17.

Yeah I'm not so concerned about the stats as I am the player morale.

Luckily for me, I guess, is that I've stopped playing now that I'm in the offseason, so I am not expecting to have any issues with the player morale.
