NBA 2K16 News Post

NBA 2K16 patch #4 is available for PlayStation 4, weighing in at 2.4GB. The same patch is scheduled to be released for PC and Xbox One very soon. Once they release, we will update this post.

UPDATE: Patch #4 is available for PC and Xbox One now.

Check out the patch notes below and let us know what you are seeing!

GENERAL
  • Addressed a hang that can occur when editing/applying tattoos in Edit Player.
  • Resolved a bug where one or more users in a co-op game would lose control of their player at some point during the game.
  • Fixed a disconnect issue that some users were seeing during online games.
  • (PC) Fixed a corruption issue where some users were experiencing hangs, missing art assets, and infinite loads. Please ensure that your virus scanning software (e.g. Avast) whitelists your Steam folder/directory. This is required for new content to properly download and install.
  • Closed a loophole where the pause timer would stop counting down when sitting in the ‘Report Image’ flow.
  • Improved the user interface when applying contracts to players in MyTEAM by removing the display of how many contracts the player would have IF the current card was applied.
  • Fixed a case where the user accepting an online invite would sometimes skip the position selection screen in the way into matchmaking.
  • Headwear should now properly unequip when attempting to do so from within the MyPARK Apparel section of the store.
  • The player portrait will now update when a new user is signed in on the main menu via the account picker.
  • A number of other optimizations and enhancements have been made to improve the user experience.
GAMEPLAY
  • Teammate free throw celebration/interaction behaviors have been corrected.
  • Slightly tuned down the frequency of ball collisions.
  • Fixed an issue that led to a temporary loss of user control on possession changes while in the 2K Cam.
  • Tuned down the frequency of missed alley-oop and putback dunks when open.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed high rated post players to shoot post fadeaway 3's at a high percentage.
MyCAREER/MyPARK/MyCOURT
  • Fixed a rare issue where the game would hang when Doris Burke interviews your MyPLAYER at the end of the first half and/or at the end of the game.
  • The correct records and rep levels will now be shown for the players on the MyPARK loading screen.
  • Corrected the wall and floor art for the San Antonio Spurs theme in MyCOURT.
  • Fixed a case where some purchased shoes were not properly appearing on the shoe racks in MyCOURT.
MyGM/MyLEAGUE
  • Resolved a hang that could occur many, many years into MyGM when entering the offseason.
  • Generated players will now wear the correct color socks for away games.
  • Fixed an issue where generated players were getting their free throw animations randomized every offseason.
  • The Strengths/Weaknesses screen in Team Comparison should now be functioning properly once again.
NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves (unless specifically noted otherwise).

Is anyone else getting the 2nd quarter interviews skipped? Mine have skipping for a couple of days now and I'm starting to suspect that there's something up. Also, I'm still having the buzzer beater glitch where the time displayed on the "official" clock reads all zeros even though the one on the backboard is correct with the lights. Most importantly, all the calls have been correct so I guess it's just the visual aid. Still, I would like for it to be right. I found a solution to the PG's driving nonstop; I turned drive the paint and look for inside shot tendencies down to zero. It seems to have eliminated it in the few games I have played with those settings.

First time playing 2K in a few days, and this isn't the same game as day-1 of patch 4.

I've always suspected that 2K games are susceptible to wild changes in gameplay when code is altered. (I used to dabble in hex editing on the 360, and 1 save file would play drastically diff pre and post-hexing. Especially in MC mode where you don't have the luxury of adjusting sliders)

I wasn't, and honestly still not, 100% sure that this is the case. There could be legit explanations why it seems that way, or maybe it's pure placebo. But that last update (not the patch) seems to have things moving quicker, nonstop offensive boards (even more so than after patch 4), D doesn't feel as tight anymore, and the PG is just hellbent on getting to the bucket at any cost.

It doesn't feel the same as it did before the update.

I would have to log a few more games to get a better sample size, but from 6 quarters, things don't feel the same way they did on the 15th.

Like the patch over all, the game play seems better but it seems that turnovers happen much more easily now for me in my player. Not even trying a lot of dribble moves and i have pretty decent handles but just going around a pick I lose the ball now. Getting kind of irritated with it.

Or is this just me?

Don't know what changed...but something has.

Notice little stuff....suddenly I can't make shots. I miss so many wide open shots, it's unreal. Meanwhile the CPU throws up crap...and it goes in.

Sooooo many more backdoors layups. It ruins everything.

I feel like I've lost control of my defensive players. Passing is worse...and something is wrong with player movements. I'm having trouble getting into freelance offense...and players are moving around like they have never played basketball.

MC feels more "random" now, I don't know. Contested shots go in and wide open shots don't. Good releases brick and bad released go in etc. Movement feels also weird. It feels like movement is almost back to 2K15 levels, as if the speed is set to 60 or 70. I'm having difficulties doing smooth directional changes now (f.e. running around a pick etc)... Not sure why. But anyhow, having to adjust to those changes after every Patch/Update is kinda tiring.

It's amazing how every patch/update is the best for some and the worst for others. I feel exactly the opposite of how you do about the game now.

The game feels the same to you as it did on the 15th? (or whenever patch 4 came out for the X1)

Because I completely understand where you're coming from, but I'm also seeing the same things as 2knerd.

6 days ago, I could feather the left analog stick to stay with the man I'm guarding. Move in to pressure when appropriate, but giving a reasonable amount of space to cut off angles but still contest a jumper.

I played 2K16 for the first time today after a few days off from it, and when I feather the left stick now, my defender doesn't respond as quickly. The input def isn't 1:1. It feels like I'm fighting him, and dragging him to his man. When I finally get him turned around and in position to defend, it's like the floor turns to quick sand on that spot that was so very difficult to get to...

The CPU is running around me at will. My teammates refuse to get into the freelance, and the interior defense has vanished.

The issues are so very potent in MC. I agree that patch 4 was wonderful, but the games I played today didn't seem to have the effects of patch 4.

It's seriously a riddle trapped in an enigma.

What's misleading about this thread is that it seems like some folks are hopping into it late, thinking what they might be seeing now is representative of patch 4. But it's not.

When I posted these...

Small sample size, but I'm satisfied so far.

I'm eager to see how that plays out in MyCareer later on today.

1 criticism is that I saw the ball teleport thru Faried's body when I drove w/ Steph. It would be nice if it wasn't in the game, but it is. What you gonna do tho, ya know? I'm not gonna harp on that.

...I obviously wasn't having any issues w/ patch 4. But today, I absolutely saw what 2Knerd & Meccs alluded to.

The last two patches have killed the defense for me. The athletic movements and leaping ability you once had are now replaced with 200 pound weights for feet

Just a couple of little plays of how I feel more in control of my defender than I used to be

I agree with you, I like the game much more with patch 4. It took a minute to get my sliders readjusted to the changes, but I think the game is better now than it has been.

Sick of seeing offensive players get speed boosts to pick up a loose ball after I knock it loose. What the hell man?

This is one of the fundamental issues that I hope they can solve for NBA 2K17, because it's my opinion that they can't fix it year for whatever reason.

# 373 The 24th Letter @ 12/21/15 11:26 PM
Live ball by itself may have been nerfed but it's a lot easier to get steals in that situation actually using the steal button...

Also, were you able to make the CPU pick up the ball pre patch? If so I don't remember it, I did it twice last game with on ball D

My idea for next year is to tie cut offs from the R Stick into the left trigger...

Did they remove the patch or something? The first day it was cool but now it seems like the game is playing like it did before patch.

# 375 stillfeelme @ 12/22/15 01:34 AM
I have put in at least 10 plus 12 minute games under the patch 4 vs. the CPU on SS/Sim

  • On Ball defense is overpowered against the CPU. The CPU is just too sticky on the perimeter good defenders , bad defenders, average defenders seems to not matter as much as far as the level of defense the CPU can play. I liked the CPU on ball defense prior to patch 4 you could exploit a mis match but after patch 4 not so much.
  • Has anyone been able to get consistent contact on the CPU? why are they so damn slippery?

As in Patch 3? it is feeling much different to me.

Patch 4 is the layup strip patch and contact layup reduced with overpowered OBD it is very clear those things were touched. They also let you you steal more on perimeter

The first day of patch 4 seemed like I had more control over movements. And also didn't get as many of those bump into the CPU and he will lose the ball moments. Now it seems opposite, I get many steals by just bumping CPU and also don't seem to have as much movement control

# 378 HowDareI @ 12/22/15 02:24 AM
As a whole I still like the game, it's just certain things need to chill.

-No one gets stripped on drives this easily.

-In modes like Pro-Am, where you have max players, no way should guys with 90+ 3 point shots be missing so many (open) 3's.
Like, wide open shots...

-Zig zag is making a little bit of a comeback now that live-ball has been toned down to the point of being almost nonexistent on these dribbles.
While I agree that you shouldn't be able to sprint into someone's arm and get a steal, you also shouldn't be able to pull some And 1/Globetrotters ish and dribble through defenders like they don't exist.

-Too many times I feel like a ghost when going for an interception on bad passes. I literally see the ball get passed through my chest or arms sometimes.

-Reward good post players/punish bad ones.
Why put all this work into refining the post game, only to have hooks and fades miss so much? Yet people can just spam the power back down for 4 seconds then hit the shoot button and force the ball in with absolutely no move performed...or at least let me send that into the 10th row and not give me a foul animation.

That said, it feels like a switch was flipped the past two days and I can dominate in the post again. Not allowed to do hooks though, just up and unders...
I had 25 15 and 5....at half, in a Pro-Am game then everyone quit. Made me have hope in 2K again.

Been saying this.

I've been the guy trying to teach dribble moves/blow by techniques since launch when the AI was warping into place....but the CPU feels stickier than ever to me.....even bad defenders. I'm not having issues shooting any more and can use ball movement to score effectively, but it is definitively noticeable...

When I see guys say it's too easy to blow by on SS/SIM I'm like:

Spoiler

Lol.

Won't complain too much because I feel this is the best you've been able to play on ball D vs the CPU vs launch as well....contact hasn't been much of an issue for me...

I can still bump the CPU and they lose the ball. Thought that was fixed?
