I saw the Saints v Dolphins footage a couple weeks ago. It bummed me out and it put EA in a bit of a hole, in my book. "But it wasn't encoded properly," they said, without offering a properly encoded video. The hole got a little deeper. Now this video is out and there is no official response to the criticism (yet). The hole has gone through the earth's crust at this point. While I can't say with 100% certainty that I won't buy the game, EA has given me absolutely NO reason to be excited.

Wouldn't know, don't play 2k online, and if I do, would play in a sim league with sim players. Game isn't garbage at all, second to the show as far as a professional franchise.

Anything is possible, but if they're looking to get the hype train going for the next generation of Madden NFL football then they would be putting their best foot forward. The game is releasing in, what, a month or so? The idea that this wasn't encoded the right way or they are holding back at this point doesn't make sense (the former a claim EA made about the first ESPN video release). This is the game that folks will be buying.

Not what I was getting at. What I was trying to say is, obviously this game is an untouched port of current gen with the Ignite engine.

I'm not going to play this game, i'm not going to even give it a second look. What i'm saying is, they'll actually have time to develop a real next gen game for Madden 15. Whether it will be good or not is all up to them. I doubt it will be sim, I believe it will be the same dog and pony show. What i'm saying is, i'll judge them on a TRUE next gen scale with Madden 15.

Guys I believe it was asked once. Please lets not get into 2K, basketball merits etc.

We've been shown and told so many different things, I don't what to think. While you could see some improvements in this video, that's not what a generational jump from a game should look like. Its what Madden 15 on current gen should look like.

Yes I saw double team pass blocking, looked good, but this shouldn't require next gen tech.

The video that came from EA last week looked pretty good. The movement looked better. Now this one comes out and the movement looks no better then current gen. Maybe a little, but not much.

I guess the one thing we won't be able to tell before launch without true prolonged gameplay is how much the AI has improved. If that's much better, I can accept other shortcomings.

Doesn't EA have some stuff coming out this week? True-step crap?

Did I say anything to the contrary?

Again, what does that have to do with the NFL? That was your point of contention.

I think we're all tired of it, as evidenced by this thread. I'm obviously just as pissed as everyone else is about what we're getting in a month. Which is why i'm not going to play it. I'll see what they offer next year, and if it's not up to par again, I simply won't play it.

Now if others follow suit, that's all up to them. It's the only way EA will ever learn, but too many people love the game of football to pass it up. Especially on their next gen consoles.

This was EA's last chance with me. I don't think I'll be following them over to Next Gen. It's kind of amazing that 2k will have a better football game now TWO generations removed from EA's current offering. What a shame.

We all are, we are all on the same side here.

Iv'e said it before, and i'll say it again. As long as online play dominates this game, EA will NEVER give us a truly sim game.

It will always be wide open, unrealistic gameplay where the defense is hampered. Because online players love the big highlight reel play and scoring points.

The tackles will always look over the top and ridiculous.

The jukes, spin moves, catches and animations will continue to be subpar. Want to know why? The online crowd doesn't mind when they can truck a defender, hurdle, spin, and then juke their way to victory, they thrive for that.

Presentation will continue to be unbelievably bad. Why? Because the online and tournament player doesn't want real time presentation, replays, cutaways and things like that cutting into their playing time.

It's a sad fact, but EA makes this game for the online/tournament player. Until that changes, don't have any hope of ever seeing a truly sim game, especially not in terms of presentation

I just watched it again and during the game you can see Luck's uniform is dirty but then when the game is over and he is shaking hands with his teammates his uniform is completely clean.

Not even worth the $10 upgrade IMO.
If it is just a small upgrade from current gen, show them you're unhappy by not giving them any more money. Even the $10 upgrade.
When sales decline coupled with the NFL license fee, maybe hints change.

2K is building from the ground up on their next gen titles. Not sure why EA couldn't do the same thing.

I haven't seen one person argue that. However what was said by the OP he thought it was a bad business decision by the NFL due to declining sales and poor quality.

I'll say again the NFL doesn't care about that when they are getting paid.

To me looked worse than current gen (animations). I just don't think something jives with the ESPN vids . I'm sure when EA releases some footage it will be better than that. It may not blow anyone away but it will be a different game than ESPN is showing.

I don't think NBA 2K14 is built from the ground up.

I, like everyone else, am disappointed with how current-Gen this looks. It makes me wonder what they have been doing for the past two years.

I will say this however, I thought that next Gen FIFA looked the same as current Gen but it played so much better. I'm hoping it will be the same for Madden. Luckily for me, we don't get the PS4 till 2 weeks after the US, so you guys get to be my guinea pigs

Pathetic that they're so ashamed of their product that they can't just zoom out and show some 11 on 11 football.

Exactly. I was just making the point.

I think Madden does need to completely rebuilt. But I think EA feels that's not practical. And they are probably right.
