Madden is EA's cash cow...The McDonalds marketing strategy is working like a charm because while its not the best burger and fry combo it is the most well known and its reliable. From a marketing standpoint they have to be saying...Why would we change?...Particularly when we are the only game in town?...I think its a long term death sentence but as long as they retain NFL rights to the game their strategy is bullet proof.

The Madden name alone sells...meanwhile they are allowing EA Canada to do all the real innovation in Hockey and Soccer which are games that they are really trying to corner the market in. meanwhile madden still rakes in the cash. At the very least I'd like to see them get rid of Tiburon and give the game to EA Canada.

Those VC 2K guys wouldn't last one year on the game because EA would not spend the resources or give them the time to make a product that is different from standard Madden. They would quit...Why do you think we see so much turnover in producers of Madden?...being handcuffed into making a sub par game is not something those guys sign on for...after a year or two they realize there is no chance their ideas will be implemented so they bounce.
Many of them would not even work for them again anyways because they understand the authority of the marketing department to determine the outcome of the game.

LOL! And they were doing that in Madden12. Go figure.

The screenshots of NBA2k on next gen are very promising, so I don't know why some are doubting that there can be a significant leap in graphics from the current gen, even early on. Madden just doesn't seem to be the same leap this year. I am hoping FIFA is more impressive on ps4.

ESPN Says It's Been Using Next-Gen Madden Footage. It Looks Terrible.
Funny I just saw this roll across my twitter mode as well.

"ESPN corrected me, said they did not reupload today's Madden next-gen video. I asked why they took it down. They told me to ask EA Sports."

Don't worry when some stoned college kid posts how awesome Madden is tonight the devs will re-tweet it but good luck getting them to comment on any of this.

With this true step they are advertising I would like to see some QB pocket footwork added to the game, ohhh wait, we still don't have a damn pocket yet

So if ea is aware they are disappointing their fans and sales are down why are they not improving.. I don't understand I really hope the game doesn't disappoint I've tried to stay positive.. But this video is the 2nd one that just really doesn't show much promise

You ever see Dan Marino throw the ball? Or John Elway?

Can't see who that is in the GIF, but the team says Miami, regardless just go to youtube and watch any Marino video and you'll see pretty much the same thing on that type of throw and route. So it's not really unrealistic at all.

Back on topic...

Madden is going to have to put the pedal to the metal if they want to get up to speed, thing is they don't have to, so they won't. EA's modus operandi has long been marketing first, quality of product second, and I see no evidence of that changing. Throw in the recent trend of license acquisition and that pushes quality of product down to third.

So hate to break it to ya, but this is how it's going to be kids. You're not going to see any sort of dramatic change in this game from year to year. There may be some slight acceleration with these new consoles, because as I understand it they are more developer friendly, but that acceleration won't just be isolated to Madden. You're going to see other sports games benefit as well, with a very real chance at Madden still being left in the dust.

No competition.

Just imagine how amazing a next gen 2K football game would be. NFL needs to do the right thing and do away with the exclusive licence BS because the gap between a new NFL 2K game and Madden would seriously be just as big as the gap between NBA 2K and Live.

Because this game sells no matter what.

It doesn't have to get better, it's going to sell one way or the other. SUcks for football fans but it is what it is...

He was being sarcastic and already explained that.

He was referring to Madden with the rocket throws, not 2k.....

This thread is all types of win. You guys finally cracked JP, I never thought i'd see the day..

But about the video, i'm honestly not shocked. When we first saw that Saints/Dolphins video, I knew right away that this game was nothing but a port, like they didn't even try to improve anything. Whatever though, this game will come with my bundle and be sold the same day. This is the ultimate form of EA showing that they really don't care what they sell to their customers.

Dude. It was a shot at EA and their physics. It looks good in that gif. Madden hasn't looked like that in 8 years.

I get the game...I try to enjoy it and I think my lack of expectations and hope keep me even keel.

I don't play shooters and to be honest I buy consoles soley based on my love and commitment to football games...I play other sports games but Football is the only reason I game at all. So...no matter what you read from me here I'm disgusted at the fact that I really believe there is no hope...Not having hope is a bad place to be. I applaud guys who still have passionate anger and hope...But when you come to the realiztions that I have I will have a warm seat for you here on the NO Hope for Madden Express train to Football purgatory.
And that to me is one of the biggest issues going into this game right now. Let's suppose that under the hood there are some things to appreciate about this first next gen game. Well given the last 9 years, that's NOT the game EA needs to be making. They in no way need to be making a game where you spend countless hours and then finally appreciate it. They needed to make a game that brought people to the edge of their seat as soon as they saw it.

It's great that they are talking about OL vs DL. But they should be talking about line stunts, coverage shells, half slide protection, quarter slide protection, trail technique, bracket coverage, man coverage inside vs outside technique, Run Defense built into the coverage, blitzing from space, timed blitzes, aligned blitzes. But nope.

I'll say I'm sick of the 2k talk after all these years, but it's worth invoking here. I actually never played All-Pro Football (I played 2k religiously on DC), but I watched some youtube videos today, and I was very impressed by what I saw from an engine based on technology from the Dreamcast era.

It has its own legacy issues, and some things look awful, but there is so much going on that is still superior to EA's efforts. That's what disappoints me more than anything. Sure, I lament the fact that engine didn't get a chance to grow this past generation, but moreso, it's regrettable that EA football is, and continues to be, locked into a terrible software base for their games.

It does feel like a bit like the nightmare of Madden 06 next-gen all over right now.

LOL the only people that cracked JP was Tiburon and the contradictory footage we have been getting. I don't see how anyone can look at that footage and get excited. I'm not saying people have to trash it, but there just has not been anything to get excited about with this game. Luckily for me I'm not getting a next gen console for a football game. I'm getting one because of other games.

Not impressed at all. Graphically, the game looks barely better than current gen versions. But where this game completely disappoints me is animation wise. Animations look sloppy and unrealistic. Drop backs are laughable, running animations are BAD.

Can we please, PLEASE, get rid of the exclusive license, NFL? you're not doing yourself a favor.

LOL stop dreaming. As long as EA can afford it the NFL is going to take EA's money.

I'm guessing that EA is just going to try and let this blow over, given that Emmdot was clearly looking at the thread not too long ago and didn't post anything about the videos being taken down. I'm not blaming him in particular, as obviously he wouldn't be the one making those kind of decisions anyway.
