Fans To Determine Real-World Matches And Story Lines Replayed In-Game

April 24, 2012 – Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that EA SPORTS ™ UEFA EURO 2012 ™ is available in North America and Europe as a paid digital expansion pack to fans who own EA SPORTS FIFA 12 on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, or PC.

The only officially licensed videogame of the 2012 European Football Championship which begins June 8 in Poland and Ukraine, EA SPORTS UEFA EURO 2012 recreates all the drama and excitement of one of the largest and most-watched sporting events on the planet. Fans will be able to compete for national pride and glory as their favourite European country in the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament against rival nations in the group stage, progress through the sudden victory knockout rounds, and ultimately compete for the chance to be crowned UEFA EURO 2012 champion.

Today EA SPORTS unveiled plans to determine the best players in the world playing UEFA EURO 2012 on the PlayStation®3 and Xbox 360®. The two best players on each console will be determined through a series of online qualifiers. Those players will meet in the championship final on the pitch at Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine, hours before their heroes step onto the same pitch to compete for the UEFA EURO 2012 championship. Competition details are available at www.ea.com/intl/football/1/euro12-tournament.

EA SPORTS and Coca-Cola Zero™ are teaming up to deliver an online service that will drive real-life story lines from the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying campaign and during the tournament into the game, enabling fans to relive dramatic moments with challenges based on real-life matches. Fans are able to submit matches and vote on the ones they want to replay by visiting the EA SPORTS football community at http://www.facebook.com/easportsfifa. Challenges that receive the most votes will be pushed into the game weekly between April 27 and July 5, 2012. Challenges will enable fans to earn experience points and level up their EA SPORTS Football Club profile.

UEFA EURO 2012 also features a new mode called Expedition that enables fans to build, manage and compete with a customised team against other European nations, crafting the perfect strategy for European domination. Fans will choose their favourite European player or FIFA 12 Virtual Pro to captain their customised team, win matches to earn better players from defeated nations, and then defeat the best nations to earn the best players in a campaign quest to defeat all 53 countries and complete the journey to conquer Europe.

UEFA EURO 2012 is developed by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. The manufacturer suggested retail price is £15.99, 1800 MS Points and 2,500 FIFA Points on PC. UEFA EURO 2012 is rated “E” for Everyone and PEGI 3.

Sounds disappointing to say the least. Well, here's hoping they learn from this come WC 2014.

Even with the Season Pass, it sounds like I'll be avoiding this.

Can you edit the generic players? Kits aren't huge to me, but I'd like to be able to fix the names at least.

I have not downloaded or played the game, but after looking through the 100s of posts on the FIFA forums the answer to your questions is.........no.

I find it hard to believe that they can have Gareth Bale on Spurs but if you put him on Wales all of a sudden it has to be Baleth (or whatever they have it as).

Not at all hard to believe, all you have to do is look at the other soccer games(FM and PES), if you dont have the license , then you can't use it.

Are intl teams like wales licensend by PES? If so it makes complete sense to why ea doesn't have them in the game. Im more disappointed in the lack of qualifying rounds. Still gonna get it and make my own opinion.

Hey guys here are my thoughts after about an hour of playing and looking around the menus, maybe I can help someone decide to make or not make a purchase. I read many impressions but it was only 16$ on psn so I went for it. It's still FIFA 12 but by now we all know this. I'm sure it's my imagination but I felt like I saw a few new animations and goals, but I really think I'm probably wrong about this. What I believe is new is that u can now play 20 min halves, I think it was up to 15 min in '12 but again I could b wrong. All the new sliders r in but without number values, just slide bars. The lack of fouls r still there. The atmosphere is on par with past euro or wc titles. You can only use one team in the euro tourney. It's group stage and knockout only, the mode gives u fixtures, leaders in goals, cards ect. What I was surprised by is no be a pro/use a pro gameplay, none. Not in exhibition, the tournament or even the expidition mode. I started an expidition mode an selected Steven gerrard

Like I said I selected s Gerard, u pick a group of teams to start with and was shocked when I played my first game I only had the option of playing as the whole team, I thought I would control just Stevie g. Also I believe there is no online team play. Hope this helps someone, if this was a 60$ game I wouldn't b happy but for 16 I'm ok with it, just really wish it had qualifiying.

I was severely mistaken, I had the impression the DLC was $10.
I'd rather sell FIFA 12 for $20 on a trade than pay $26 for
half-baked DLC. I'll pass on this.

That's weird. I could have sworn that in the developer Q&A (which seems to have dissapeared) they said you could use your VP in the expedition mode.

# 32 [Icy] @ 04/25/12 05:12 AM
You can use your BAP in expedition, i'm using it, but not in any of the other modes.

Important restriction: The Offline Tournament is single player only you CAN'T play an offline Eurocup with a friend in your console, that is beyond stupid. Of course you can play exhibition games vs other players.

Expedition mode is fun, as are also the challenges based on past real games from the qualifiers (like in the world cup game).

I bought it because it's cheap and it's like a collection item for me, but if $26 means something to you, do not buy this as it's a half done DLC. Can't believe that only half of the teams are licensed, the rest have fake players and uniforms, including the Tournament host Poland and Ukraine.

No qualifying rounds is a big loss too, but i guess they did it to hide that only half of the teams have been licensed.

At least they could have included the option to edit the teams/players so we can put the real names ourselves but rosters/teams are not editable at all.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. U can use your be a pro, but u control the whole team, not just ur pro. So it's not just from his point of view. Also in exhibition and expidition u can change the stadiums u can play in even using stadiums from FIFA 12, not sure if u can use all of them but def a lot of them. I just went into FIFA 12 hoping that the euro stadiums can b used in FIFA 12 but this isn't the case.

I played a few games and it feels identical to FIFA 12. Anyone know if there was even one modification to the gameplay?

There were zero changes to the match engine. This was purely cosmetic.

This I will give EA credit for, they did say that graphics and gameplay were not touched at all, although some swear up and down it's different it's not.

Ok, so I'm really glad I held off on this... but for 20.00 I know I'll want it when the tournament starts so essentially I'm just saying I'm not going to buy it now.

Two questions, is there a discount for season pass owners? I don't think so, but it can't hurt to ask.

Biggest question, is there an online mode similar to to the world cup mode in 2010 and the online season mode in this year's game? I'm addicted to these modes and loved it in the world cup game. Only hitch is, if people don't buy it there won't be people to play against.

Oh dear, what a lame !!!!!!!! never seen such a failure in any one-event featured game!!!

i definitely won't purchase it!

Yes. For Season Pass members, you get a discount. I paid 1440 MS points. Not that bad in my book. I am enjoying the DLC so far.

I wish there was qualifying, but I get why they didn't include it now (unlicensed squads).

I have enjoyed FIFA12 for months and this DLC just adds to the experience for me.

the euro will suck, having it in countries like poland and ukraine is just as lame as austria and switzerland were in terms of having a football tournament there. 2016 in france will be better and then moving on i really hope for italy, spain, germany or even turkey. just some more classical football countries. i have been following this since 1996 which was in england. then the downward spiral began, netherlands plus belgium and portugal were a worse choice of a host but still kind of acceptable but they took a further step backwards with austria and switzerland (both not qualified this time) and now ukraine and poland arent any better.
so withother words thats the kind of game that the competitions actually diserves.
