Madden 09 News Post

IGN has posted the first online league details for Madden 09, including a video clip of the game in action.

"When it comes to sports videogames it doesn't get much bigger than the yearly release of Madden Football. Some complain it's the same game year in and year out, but that doesn't stop droves of pigskin fanatics from lining up outside of their local retailers in hopes of scoring a copy. With the announcement of Brett Favre as the cover athlete for Madden NFL 09 the ball has begun to roll heading toward the game's August release."

i havent bought any of the "next gen" madden games so i havent seen any of the same ol' tackling animation that many of you are complaining about though its understandable...

i still dont like how the OL/DL interact they just dont capture the battle of the trenches feel like they do in APF...

Nevermind.... its not worth the discussion.

And if people were in the 2k forums talking bad about that game and comparing it to Madden, the roles would be reversed. 2K fans would be directing those complaining to the Madden forum.

Am I right?

I don't think that anyone cares if someone has a complaint about Madden. Its the constant reminding and comparisons to 2k that get annoying.

Some of us want to discuss Madden and would like to do so without having to sift through the same negative posts time and time again, from pretty much the same people over and over again.

I think youre missing the point though. Are the complaints the truth? What are they comparing that EA hasnt addressed? I dont think its just 2k fans that complain about areas of the game that should have been addressed years ago, Most of the complaints are basic football related & its not 2ks faut they got it right & EA cant seen to match it. Give the gamers what they want then we can move on to the next issue. Its the same damn issues every year with EA... EVERY YEAR!!!!

No, I get your point. I am guessing that you read only the 2k part of my post and then responded.

As I said, some of us would like to discuss Madden(that means the good, the bad, and the ugly) without the same negative posts over and over again, especially the ones that keep referring to how 2k did this and 2k did that.

Again, if it was 2k that was taking the criticism, the roles would be reversed.

Ok, but take notice to what you just said. "Same negative post over & over again" Thats the problem....EA needs to address them after 4 yrs ya think or just change that slogan they have from "Its In The Game" into "Its just a game"..

Early build for sure, BUT those animations still look just so stiff and awful, and the tackles are all the exact same crap from the last few years. Graphics are better, and I know EA said they weren't happy with the video either, so I will be awaiting those new videos.

Do you have any actual examples of these "promised features EA failed to deliver"?

For March Madness 05 I believe they had the whole Creation Zone feature (create teams and players in depth) listed as one of the major features for that year on their website. Then ONE week before the game released they took it off the site without saying a word, and it wasn't in the game and still isn't to this day. Thats one off the top of my head. Maybe the original poster has some more examples.

I know NBA Live 06 was all about "foot planting, and head tracking", only for it to be nonexistant for next gen release. Also any promises of anything remotely good for Live 07, we all know how that turned out across all platform releases of that game. Those come to mind.

Country, I know you get frustrated when people talk about 2k on madden forums but what other game can we compare it to? Ultimately thats my evaluation to go off of since it was the only other football genre created on next gen. We just need more competition so when you look at other companies innovating new ideas and setting new standards for new games. We need competition!

People are always going to compare products to the best product in that genre. Any Sandbox style game like Saint's Row is immediately compared to Grand Theft Auto. When Madden becomes better than 2K5, people will stop making the comparision.

Like i said, until a NFL game can be better then 2k5, its just always going to happen unless Operation Sports starts banning 50 percent of the football fans on this board and that probably wont happen.
All that is a matter of opinion, because I think that Madden has gotten better.

Didn't really have anywhere to go but up the last couple years.

Anywho - snow looks good. Everything else, well, looks the same as before. Animations are bleh after all this time. Does look slower which is a plus - NCAA looked like it was on speed. Least there weren't any tunrovers. That's a huge plus in 2 mins of play.
