Re: New NBA 2K17 Patch: Expanded Dev Notes

As from answers above it seems that they decided to finally tone down all the and 1 dribbles. Most roster makers I know have been doing this for years. For those who play with 2K Rosters only this will make your gaming experience so much better. I have never understood the lack of updates done to tendencies in Roster updates.

I got all excited and thought they had added some new tendencies. Lol

This is so cool! I can't wait to play it after sitting at the loading screen for 30 minutes which has been a problem for months.....

This is too funny. I don't play online so i'm never going to experiment all these fixes, from patch 1 to 12. I'll be playing the broken product you guys sell to us all on Sept. 20. Shoes will still be messed up, offensive strategies not running properly, Al will still be double teaming A LOT and, of course, no new tendencies. NONE of that for me.

But I really, really hope you guys learn from all the mistakes. I hope you guys care more about your product and your consumers too, people who truly love basketball.

(Sorry for my bad english y'all but i I had to get this out of my stomach.)

A definite oversight I would say. Big update coming Monday or Tuesday Czar said. I would look for everything to be correct then. I know there were issues with copy & pasting.

The changes they are making I have been making since October. Just glad to see maybe 2K18 won't have as much to edit out of the box, if they are using this as a test for it.

Exactly. At least they are finally updated and done correctly (minus a few errors that will be fixed per what they said is coming Mon or Tues). I personally think the importance of correct tendencies is undervalued by many users when in fact it is one of the most important factors toward quality gameplay.

Using your example with Kevin Love:
If I set Help Rules to No Help on Love, this means that no one will come to help if Kevin Love beats his man off of the dribble. This does not mean that you will not help off of Kevin Love if say Lebron beats his man off the dribble.

It's a "help on this guy" setting, not a "help off of this guy" setting.

Here's a post from alabamarob I snatched from the Defensive Settings Wiki we have up. He has a video showing a pretty clear example of how it works.

Unless you guys changed something fundamental about how this setting works, it should behave the same way.

The reason a lot of the community thinks that setting someone to Deny on Off-Ball Pressure will help prevent helping off a person is it is the closest thing to that kind of control we currently have on the defense since it does put him a position that he will be unlikely to help if his man is on the perimeter. It appears to me that right now we have no way of controlling who we help off of, only who we help on.

I look forward to seeing what you can do to help with the defense in 2k18 since you've done a great job with the offenses in the past few years.

                  Thanks!
Well HOTDAM! Thank the lord for my Caveat at the beginning of that video.

Someone popped in a stream and mentioned this post. So I checked with my engineer and It does appear I was incorrect.

First off thank you for understanding and how you handled this.

Ok. so I will pull that video after I post this so I'm not misleading anyone else.

                  For clarification.

                  For screen help

No help means there will be no hedger

No rotation means there will be a hedger but no rotation behind him.

The way our pick and roll defense is setup there are 3 roles a helper and to rotations guys so it made sense to me that a setting of no help means whoever that help guy is don't come. I had it flipped Mybad

Re: New NBA 2K17 Patch: Expanded Dev Notes

You developers do a tremendous job adding a ton of depth to strategic adjustments. However, it would be very helpful if you added an in depth tutorial on each setting or, at the very least a detailed description of each option AND how it works in tandem with other settings.

Its great to have the depth of options, but its equally important to understand how they all work.

Appreciate that fam but I indeed had this one incorrect. I though it was based on how the rotation actually work in the pick and roll on the backend. I will do my best to not add any more confusion.

Yeah I was operating off the assumption that the individual page is based on them as the ball handler so I assumed after your video I had got it wrong.

Clint you're right that there is no "Dont help off" option but when I played the Warriors I just set no help/no rotation (in the entire team setting) or whatever you call it. This worked ok in defending the 3, but it turned into lay up lines. Pick your poison.

But I do love the idea of choosing you help off, and definitely think we need to be shown how these settings work.

I WISH we had, the option to decide whether or not we would like to help off of a player.

Like if I didn't want to help off of KyleKorver for any reason, I wish I could do that
