Wait a sec, Tecmo Super Bowl should be in place of Tecmo Bowl. That game had NFL Records that you could actually break, Pro Bowl squads that were customizable, etc. C'mon! Let's end the confusion!

Wow...no mention at all of any of the Front Page Sports series? That series pretty much defined the sim end of the football game spectrum for years. So what if it took all day to simulate a week

Re: Top 10 NFL Video Games of All Time

NFL Gameday'97 needs to be on this list somewhere.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was the first game to have "branching animations" and true gang-tackles.

In my opinion, Gameday 96 filled the football-gaming void on the PS1 since Madden'96 was never released for that console. Then the next year Gameday'97 was flatout better than Madden'97 (due to gang-tackling and the ability to manually break tackles, two things that weren't in Madden yet). It wasn't until '98 that Madden took the crown back but Gameday'98 was still a great game.

So the Gameday franchise deserves some love for going hard in the late 90's.

I noticed Madden 2006 on the list. Does anybody else have fond memories of 2006 on the PS2 or XBOX? I was thinking about picking it up for the gamecube to play on the Wii.

My favorite Madden as of now is Madden 05'. Was 06' better or the same?

Re: Top 10 NFL Video Games of All Time

Is it just me or did my version of Madden 93 not include 38 championship teams?

I remember Madden NFL 94 having somewhere around the 38.......... my Madden 93 only had 8 championship teams......... unless Madden 93 had a code or something I didn't know about. There was a 3DO edition of Madden that I didn't play, maybe the 38 teams were on that game, but I didn't see them on either the Genesis or SNES editions.

Also, Tecmo Bowl had 9 players (4 linemen, 4 skill players and the QB) instead of 8.

Last minor gripe, there was no N64 version of NFLQBC96. There was the "Madden Killer" NFL QB Club 98 that looked stunningly better than Madden 64 that year but played like crap.

Other than the vision cone, they really aren't too much different, at least it wasn't on the PS2. The deep ball may have been slightly easier in 06 once you got used to the vision cone.
