Early '60s Version 1.0 uploaded.

The Early '60s Playoff Ready Roster V01 has been uploaded under the user name stecropper.

This Version of the Early '60s Roster consist of the following completed 25 Man Teams:

AMERICAN LEAGUE:
1961 New York Yankees
1961 Detroit Tigers
1963 Chicago White Sox
1963 Minnesota Twins
1964 Baltimore Orioles

NATIONAL LEAGUE:
1960 Pittsburgh Pirates
1961 Cincinnati Reds
1962 San Francisco Giants
1963 Los Angeles Dodgers
1964 St. Louis Cardinals

Plus:
1961 Milwaukee Braves
1960-64 Miami Marlins (Consisting of Non Starters from various Teams from 1960-1964)

This Roster Set is built with Ratings coming directly from OOTP V14 with the exception of a Pitchers Rating for Stamina, Clutch, H/9, HR/9, K/9 & BB/9; plus all Players Clutch & Durability ratings coming from Jimbo's Historic Calculator. Also a Pitchers Control & Movement Ratings were derived from a formula I created but with input data coming directly from OOTP V14.

I only use CPU vs CPU for games and they seem to really play out well using this method. I hope this works as well for those of you that control either one or both teams during the course of a game. I would be really interested in hearing from anyone that controls one or both teams on how they are playing out for you.

I have also uploaded the Sliders I use to produce the most realistic results for this Roster Set. They are simply called Early '60s and under the user name stecropper.

Future Versions of this Roster Set will include the following 25 Man Teams to complete a Season Ready Version:
1961 Cleveland Indians
1961 Washington Senators
1962 Boston Red Sox
1962 Los Angeles Angels
1962 New York Mets
1964 Chicago Cubs
1964 Houston Colt 45s
1964 Kansas City Athletics
1964 Philadelphia Phillies
1969 Kansas City Royals (Initial Franchise Team)
1969 Seattle Pilots (Initial & Only Franchise Team)
1969 San Diego Padres (Initial Franchise Team)
1969 Montreal Expos (Initial Franchise Team)
1960-64 Tampa Bay Rays (Consisting of Non Starters from various Teams from 1960-1964)
1960-64 Toronto Blue Jays (Consisting of Non Starters from various Teams from 1960-1964)
1960-64 Milwaukee Brewers (Consisting of Non Starters from various Teams from 1960-1964)
1960-64 Arizona D'Backs (Consisting of Non Starters from various Teams from 1960-1964)
1960-64 Colorado Rockies (Consisting of Non Starters from various Teams from 1960-1964)

Eventually each Team will include every Player that Played in the Majors that year for that Team.

Then it will be onto the Late '60s Roster Set (1965-1969) constructed in a similar manner.

I hope you enjoy this creation.

Re: Early 60s Playoff Ready roster uploaded.

StormsWarning,

Thanks for the kind words. I still hold MVP2005 close to the heart as the most flexible Computer Baseball Simulation game ever created and the Best for recreating the game's Historical accuracy.

However, The Show is certainly heads and shoulders above it in Presentation and perhaps even in it's game engine itself.

Once The Show includes such things as many additional Historical Uniforms, More Historical Stadiums, League realignment & elimination of certain teams capability during season play, flexible schedule creation, Playoff bracket adjustments, Oldtime Fielding Gloves & Flapless Batting Helmets and No Batting Helmets (using Baseball Caps only), all players that ever played the game announced names available plus eliminating those retired jersey #'s THEN it certainly would become the BEST BASEBALL Game EVER !

Thanks Again,
Don

Re: Early 60s Playoff Ready roster uploaded.

Don, I just convinced my wife to get the...ummm...kids a PS4 this Christmas lol. I'll be getting these rosters for sure. In the new year, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I reconfigured ratings for classic teams for MLB 13 which I am still enjoying > http://www.operationsports.com/forum...sic-teams.html . Maybe I could get some of those great seventies teams going. Still have MVP 2005 on my laptop, but I just can't stay with it too long just due to the presentation factor of MLB the Show.

Re: Early 60s Playoff Ready roster uploaded.

Hey there bostongahden,

I appreciate and Welcome your offer of assistance in bringing to life these Early & Late 60s roster sets plus a 70s roster set as well.

1) Do you have Out of the Park V14 ? If not then I would be willing to purchase it for you if you are serious about helping this project along.

2) Are you willing to strictly adhere to rating these players according to OOTP V14, Jimbo's latest historic Calculator & my Pitchers Control & Movement formula? Reason I ask is by using the ratings reflected in these 3 tools takes all personal decisions out of the process which greatly enhances the relative accuracy of these roster sets (in my opinion at least).

3) The personal decisions come into play when setting things like accessories, batting stances, pitchers delivery etc etc....

4) There is no rush expected while building these teams/roster sets and after the first of the year is fine with me as I expect to continue this project well into next year. Hopefully we can transfer these to MLB The Show's next & future versions.

5) I remember enjoying some of your work from MLB The Show 13!

Again, Thanks for the offer to help and I certainly look forward to working with you on this project. As you might know, I am one of the original Total Classics guys from MVP 2005 and that was really an enjoyable experience working with that group of fellows and I would love to bring some of that concept of teamwork here to MLB The Show.

Plus if you would rather me just share with you my complete method/process so you can build your own rosters I would be more than happy to do that as well.

Take Care,
Don

Re: Early 60s Playoff Ready roster uploaded.

To answer your question, Don, I am not familiar with OOTP series other than it is a much heralded simulation from what I've read. Is it costly? I don't mind paying if it's reasonable and I'm assuming you covet their ratings due to the accuracy factor in their simulations. I'm all about the classic teams as I don't spend much time with the current rosters so I'm eager to learn how you come up with your ratings.

From what I've read am I correct with my inference that only franchise files can be carried over and not rosters files? I'm torn because I'm getting the PS4 and I'll naturally get MLB 14 but it's a shame to do all the work and not have it carried over. But such is the life of the classic roster guys, I guess.

I also totally agree with your view that more stadiums, uniforms and customized leagues for season play would make this game even better. Also I'm more of a player rather than a simulator (especially in playoff mode) so I can give plenty of feedback on how the rosters handle in that regard. I look forward to seeing your work and using the rosters

Re: Early 60s Playoff Ready roster uploaded.

bostongahden,

OOTP's latest version is on sale now for just $19.99 regurlarly $39.99. This is a PC version. I looked on ebay & amazon for OOTP V14, where I purchased it, but didn't see any available. V14 is available from that place called Steam but I am not familiar with Steam so don't know if it is a legitimate site to purchase software. I think it was $9.99 either on their site or someone selling it's Steam Code on ebay.

Yep, I've read many accolades regarding OOTP's rating system but actually have not played the game itself to know much about it. I played Strat-O-Matic's computer game a little and APBA's Broadcast Blast a good bit and enjoyed those two game but have heard that OOTP's ratings are better. I also messed a very little bit with Sports Mogul but strictly use those game to research and use ratings to create Teams/Players for MVP 2005 and now The Show.

OOTP matches up really really well with The Show's ratings categories so because of that and their highly regarded rating accuracy is why I am very happy so far with the results. But again, I only play CPU vs CPU games so I really have no idea how realistic it is when controlling one or both of the teams within a game.

I too read only about the year to year transfer ability in Franchise and Road to the Show modes but am hoping they also include Roster Saves or Playoff Saves. Certainly that wouldn't be a big issue to make that happen if they already have those other two methods implemented. It would be a huge marketing oversight if they don't.

I am now enjoying only Playoff Mode since until I have a complete Season playable roster it makes no sense to use that mode. Even for simming an entire season to check the results isn't much value until the entire roster is built.

I have always been a very dedicated Baseball enthusiast but I too can't really get into the current seasons and focused almost entirely on Oldtime Baseball.

I will start posting my method of creating Rosters using OOTP V14 (which I certainly think V13 & the latest V15 would all apply equally) on this thread so you and others can use. I think it would be fantastic to create a "Standard" for others to use to easily build Rosters then we can easily interchange Teams from various Roster Makers to create unique Roster Sets.

I truly appreciate your interest and definitely look forward to collaborating with you on these efforts.

Take Care,
Don
