I downloaded the PS3 demo tonight and played a few tourney's on Sim and really enjoyed it. I liked that I had to actually think about my shot, as opposed to just firing away like I was shooting darts.

I also like the fade and draw shot feature. It certainly made it more difficult but I was not doing too badly. I hit a few fairways and it felt good.

Around the greens was the toughest for me. I will have to work on chipping.

Putting felt good and reading the greens was not too difficult. Maybe it was the two courses they let you play but the breaks did not seem to be drastic. For whatever reason, though, the hover and little waggle of the putter before you putt bugs me. Surprised this hasn't been fixed. This is something that I have never seen a golfer do.

I think the demo may have sold me on a purchase. I had '12 and skipped '13 and I can see a huge difference.

Simulation is meant to represent the game of golf, no? If so - then the yardage book needs fixing. It's ridiculous that I do not know my front/center/back yardages of the green.

There is no defending of this being omitted. It's as simple as that - no point in arguing.

This, this, and more this.

I'm using Zoom on the sim mode, makes the game more enjoyable until the next NEW feature ...yardages, lol.

Matt - you nailed it. As ridiculous as those yardage books and pin sheets can be, they basically provide the same level of detail that the zoom and yardage features of TW14 (on easier difficulties). Especially with Sunday pins and/or when trying to hit a par 5 in two, its a must to know what your yardage is to the front and to carry any front bunkers. Otherwise, yeah its tougher, but its not harder b/c its like real golf. Its harder b/c your playing blind.

I kind of agree, but saying the zoom is the same thing as a yardage book is a little stretch. If you are using it for the sole purpose of gathering yardage information, then sure it's the same. But the fact is, your not. If you have zoom turned on you are using it to aim as well, at least partially, you may adjust a bit once you zoom out, but you are in fact using it to aim. Which using zoom to aim is a HUGE advantage that frankly no golfer will ever have the ability to do.

Now if you zoomed in and checked for yardages and pin location, then zoomed out and either reset your shot or twirled your aiming stick around 3 times and changed clubs then began your aiming process from the zoomed out view basing your aim on the info you gathered from your on the green zoom view, then you could say zoom is the same as a yardage book. There is still a challenge in lining up a 100-250 yard shot from the fairway view no matter how much info you have. That is real golf, taking information, making a gameplan for the shot, then trying to aim properly and execute your desired shot and hope it lands where you intended. Hence why a yardage book would be a great idea to add to the feel of simulation, and where they fell short when removing the zoom feature. I love the idea of no zoom because it does add realism, but they need something to help us gather the appropriate information so we can use the information and practice to be able to perform like a pro with the same challenge as a pro.

The sound when striking a putt is way off. Also the sound when striking irons is off also. If this could be rectified befor the release that would be a huge plus. Also the divots that were implemented in tiger 11 are MIA once again. if all these issues could be fixed it would make for a more realistic experience.

Re: Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 Demo Available Now, Post Your Impressions (PS3, 360)

For those of you who are dissatisfied with the camera options in Tiger '14, a user called "golfboost" started a thread called "More Cameras" in the official forum. I think this would be a good, focused thread that may eventually get more developer attention if they see there's an appreciable, representative demand for a more golfer perspective oriented camera. It's not that the game would have to be redesigned to have it added in, as it's already in the game, as evidenced by the replay video I link in that thread.

They just need to add a menu option to select "Golfer Cam", and let us stay in our virtual golfer's swing view for four or five seconds before switching to a broadcast camera! This is really needed for putting and chipping.

Here's an example of how this is an artificial difficulty element. I just missed an 18 foot putt at Royal Birkdale in the Simulation difficulty Connected Tournament. The "Broadcast" presentation took me out of the swing view at impact, and switched to a tower mounted camera 30 feet above the action and off to the side!? I had no clue as to how my putt broke and didn't have that crucial information that I should have, if the camera had held the swing few until the completion of the putt. As a result, I missed seeing a subtle break in the 5 footer coming back, that I would have seen from my golfer's eyes..... GRRRRRRRR!

The Broadcast presentation is just waaaaay over the top in its perspective destroying hyper-activity! If you feel strongly about there being a "Golfer Cam" oriented option, please weigh in with your opinion at golfboost's thread:

Sorry you disagree....
This has been EA's problem with a lot of games recently. They focus on the "kids" who do crazy things online and not the people who play and enjoy their game the most. People who do everything to top a leaderboard will always exist. They always have in gaming for as long as I can remember.

Online country clubs "fix" a lot of the high scores. Now we can just play with friends and I don't care if some kid with his modded controller can eagle every hole.

In my opinion, they should focus on making games fun and realistic, and not worry about what the "kids" are up to. With online options to play in private leagues, we can get around most of that now.
