I always rinse the rice. My wife complains about me washing away nutrients etc. but I've seen plenty of "extra non-rice" in rice.

Do y'all rinse rice before cooking? Some foodies/pedants/Asian cultures will scoff & insist it's necessary (to wash off excess starch). I do/have/sometimes and even have a special bowl for it...all of which is to say: I don't think I can actually tell the difference.

No. I barely have the patience to cook it, let alone anything else.

I've never even heard of washing rice. Peas, yes - when I make split pea soup, I wash them and pick out the bad ones. But rice? Never.

If it's an easy meal, then I'll probably wash it. If I have enough other stuff to focus on, the rice is lucky I remember to add it to the water.

We definitely wash most fruits and vegetables. Strawberries especially can be an issue. Salad, we likely won't wash as we buy the pre-packaged cartons that are supposed to be washed already. But if we're buying regular heads of lettuce, or spinach, or cucumbers, squash, apples, grapes, etc., then yes we wash it.

I buy my rice from the asian groceries and they're imported from Asia. I guess it could be different if your rice comes from Arkansas but trust me on this, vast, vast majority of asians in Asia rinse their rice.

It's like men not washing their hands in Hartsfield airport after taking a leak. It doesn't need to be the recommended 2 min (?) of soap & hot water, but for God's sake just do a quick rinse.

I had Uncle Ben's rice in college, quick and convenient, but not very good.

If you regularly eat rice, I recommend you buy a cheap rice cooker on Amazon ($30, not the $100+ kind). The rice comes out so much better.

I've washed my rice since a disaster the first time I cooked sushi rice. I didn't rinse, and the rice stuck to EVERYTHING. You are basically rinsing off a layer of starch that prevents/reduces clumping.

We wash all our vegetables & fruits. I see plenty of shoppers touching & sampling stuff.

The only time I don't is with lettuce where I peel off the outer layer(s). Soggy lettuce on a sandwich is not great.

And com'on, no way you're going to eat unwashed potatoes ... right?

No. I barely have the patience to cook it, let alone anything else.

This is literally why rice cookers were invented. Rinse some rice, throw it in the cooker, throw in roughly twice that amount of water, turn it on, come back 30 minutes later.

In general, you should wash rice. Debris in the rice is an inevitability of the production process, for one reason, and in addition for the short-grain varieties, you're removing some of the starch which otherwise would make it gummy & clumpy (unless, of course, that's what you want).

You should wash fruit & vegetables. Want to know why? Observe your fellow citizens in the produce section of your grocery store, as they wipe their noses and then pick up and put back stuff, or cough and sneeze everywhere. If you grow your own vegetables you should also wash those unless you're a big fan of including animal & avian urine & poop in your diet.

You should not wash meat, especially chicken. Washing meat, especially chicken, ends up spreading bacteria across your kitchen from the splashing (unless you're really, really careful). Bacteria that will be killed by the cooking process. Red meat & pork are not quite as bad, but it's still unnecessary. The same absolutely holds true for shellfish. Having said all that, it can sometimes be necessary to give actual fish a quick rinse due to bone/scale debris that can sometimes be left on the fish at purchase.

I don't wash chicken or beef or pork.

But I actually wash shrimp because (1) to help defrost it and/or (2) after de-veining.

Washing meat seems like something that's been passed down from generations, like a family recipe. And at one time, it was probably necessary. But washing with water is no longer recommended because the spread of bacteria from splashing water is greater than ridding any bacteria that may reside on the meat itself. That said, there are certain types of acids (vinegar or lemon, most commonly) that help to neutralize bacteria. But 99% of the time, "washing" refers to water, not acid.

I had LASIK back in 2000, but now I'm needing glasses for computer and close-in reading. I got them yesterday, and it is taking a while to get used to them. If I stand up with them on and look away from the computer, it is like I'm micro-dosing LSD

For me at least, reading and computer glasses are 2 different "distances". I could not have 1 that accommodates both unless its like a bifocal?

I'm near sighted. I can mostly do without reading glasses. But I do have computer and driving glasses. Computer glasses are great and driving is necessary at nights.

Also, IMO progressive glasses are a rip off. They sell it as reading, intermediate and long but I cannot use them for reading or computers because I'll have to tilt my head all the time.

My options were pretty much down to
a) peanut butter (which were the last 2 in-house sandwich meals I'd had)
b) cheese, good ol' Kraft singles
c) ye olde potted meat

i figured since I was toasting the bread anyhow, it came down to b or c, and I'd put cheese on hot dogs at lunch earlier in the week.

We lost power at our house for the first time since we moved in - almost 5 years. We've been super lucky given how many power outages there have been in our area (Metro Detroit) and how long they've lasted. Our power grid is a mess.

Back in November 2021, we bought a portable generator and had an electrician come and set our electrical system up for it. The generator worked great. It powered our furnace and hot water heater, our freezer, fridge, our dining room, our daughter's room and bathroom, and our family room where our main TV, modem and router are. As a result, our food didn't go bad, we had heat, we had a room with lights and outlets, our daughter could sleep comfortably (she's 3.5 and needs a sound machine, her nightlight, a fan going, etc.) and had internet and TV. The house was pretty livable for the 24 hours we had no power. The generator ran 11 hours on one tank of gas.

Pro Tip: Assemble your portable generator BEFORE the power goes out.

Lunch today: two large mushroom caps that have been sitting in the fridge for a while (like 4" diameter), sauteed in a pan with a little olive oil and a splash of Christmas brew that I failed to finish last night, small jar of beef gravy, work in about half a large order each of leftover large McD's and CFA fries, shredded moz to top it off. Not bad.

There probably is a ramen or two here, now that you mention it. And I try to keep at least one or two of the shelf-stable Hormel Compleats on hand but that supply was down to one so I figured I'd avoid it if I could. That's like my "okay, I'm sick but need food" or "nothing is open but I gotta eat" emergency ration.

Those Compleats are on the small'ish side for a meal but the quality is better than most similar ones, the beef is better quality/better flavor particularly.

We have a sump pump that works very hard. I bought a generator a few years ago just for this reason. We couldn't afford the idea of losing a freezer and fridge full of food. I need to get the special panel hookup done outside for us, but for now, it would just be a maze of extension cords running through the house. I know it would pay off if we really needed it.

I was in the supermarket last night, my wife was at the self-service checkout and I was standing uselessly behind her watching her scan things and generally being no help because I apparently scan things in the wrong order. Two county police officers started using the self service checkouts across from us.

I dont see police officers up close very often. I had never noticed how many pockets, belt loops and clips they had on their uniforms, and every pocket, loop and clip had some piece of equipment jammed into it.

Not just a radio, a whistle and a notebook like when I was a lad.

Speaking of being around police officers, I was really impressed by our city's 911 responsiveness. I hit the emergency 911 cell phone button in my pocket somehow, and started getting calls and then a text from a nearby officer within seconds.

I knew that if you call 911, they're going to call you back and show up where you are if they don't hear from you - but I didn't realize that, at least in my city, you could call 911 from a cell phone, your location is established, that info gets to the nearest police officer, who gets your number, finds your location, calls you back - all in well under 30 seconds or so. Impressive. There must not have been any dispatcher involvement, all that went straight to the officer.

But it was an embarrassing phone call back (and it was made clear a text back was not enough), especially since I was on my way back to work at government agency where there are lots of investigator-types around.

Funny you mention that, because my Galaxy OS was updated recently and it must have changed something about the emergency settings, because I have set off the 911 alarm 3 times in a week. That has never happened before since I've had a cell phone. I don't know if it actually called 911 because I was frantically trying to stop the calls each time, but I recall a countdown and a very loud emergency sound.

Perhaps it's a warning that I'm dialing and it's giving me several seconds to call it off, but it's concerning for 2 reasons: no one called me back, and if this is what my phone is going to do when I call 911, what alternate number should I dial if I have an emergency and don't want to alert every person within a 1000 yard radius? Like, oh I don't know... there's a shooter in the area?

Also, we've been eating more salad lately. We discovered the pre-packaged salads from Kroger, Walmart, Publix etc. for $4-$6. It's enough for 2 and maybe 3, really convenient, has different types, and definitely better than lettuce, tomatoes with Ranch. If you haven't tried it, check it out.

I am not a big music guy, but I will do a concert with friends who are really into it - saw Journey and Toto last night, and, damn it, once you get past the initial weird visual of Arnel Pineda rocking out with all these senior citizens - he in an incredible performer, and if you're going to do Journey live in 2023, it is a billion times better with Pienda than it would be with Steve Perry, if you get over yourself and accept that's how it's going to be. And the old, white, rural, Idaho, Journey fanbase showed up and totally accepted him. Toto also had the gimmick of, "a couple of us are still alive, so we're going to do this but let these younger more energetic guys carry a lot of the load", and, you know, I think that's better than having a band of exclusively 70+ year old guys.

Ksyrup

You know, I've seen Journey several times with several different singers (none of whom were Steve Perry, btw), and they were good and all, but my biggest issue with going to see them (or Motley Crue - not that I'd waste a night on them) right now is all the offstage BS. These guys are suing each other, Schon and Cain have bodyguards to keep the other away from them, etc. I'm sure they put on a fine show but that's TMI for me to enjoy a show and suspend reality for 90 minutes. These guys ficking hate each other and are faking it for a paycheck - which happens quite a bit, I'm sure, but it's not so out in the open.

Schon hates EVERYbody. Their Behind the Music episode was the most toxic ep I have ever seen. A lot of the problem was Schon and Perry dissing each other. Well Perry wanting them not to tour without him and Schon saying "shrug...there was a journey without you there can be a journey without you." and Perry thinking he never felt like part of the band really and schon laughing at that seeing as he was making so many of the decisions and tantrums. THere was also that nasty business of Perry with Schon and Cain agreeing to it, firing the rhythm section (Vallory and Smith) just so they could try and "go in a new direction" because their album tanked and the other two going "huh? What did I do?" After that episode aired there seemed to be DOUBLE the drama! Perry had long since been done with the group. Steve Augeri had been hired to sing and Vallory was welcomed back into the group which I was SOOOO happy for! Augeri blew out his voice. THen they found Arnel on youtube and hired HIM. Then what I thought was the pinnacle of comeraderie was them getting inducted into the RNRHoF. They were all there. Steve Perry had NOTHING but glowing things to say about EVERYBODY including Arnel!!!!!!! Schon thanked steve too! They were all one big happy family again. They were all there! Perry, Schon, GREGG ROLIE!, Vallory, Smith, AYNSLEY DUNBAR!!!!!, Cain. That camelot was short lived. Things went sour quickly. Vallory and Smith did tour with them for awhile with Arnel. It was then exposed that Steve Perry was making money from the group's touring efforts even though he was no longer touring with the group. This was all legal through coujrtroom shinanigans whatever and was a known thing. So Vallory and Smith tried to do the same thing, went to court to get that deal...and Steve Perry completely supported them. NEAL SCHON Fired them when he found out. Said all kinds of crap about them and that they'd never be in journey again blahblahblah. Then Cain and Schon in theswe past years seemed to bitch about EVERYTHING
Cain had the company credit card taken away from Schon since he was running up such a high bill lolol. And schon hit the roof and sued him for it lol.

I am convinced that Schon has caused every bit of drama in that group since he is always at the center of it. I think Perry had a lot of ego but it seemed to me he eventually recognizewd his mistakes and because a really cool person to everybody.

And no I've never seen them live. I think if I had an era I'd like to see it would be the Rolie/Perry era. Best songs are there. I can watch those videos all day long.

I listen to Classic American Top 40 on IheartRadio and they cut in odd, short musical interviews during breaks. Same commercials for at least the last 4-5 years.

One is an interview with Neil Schon about the Sopranos using Dont Stop Believing. He mentions his phone blowing up with texts from all his friends... Now I don't know what to believe.

Definitely. I know musicians are performers and paid to put on a show, but it's hard to buy fake camaraderie on the stage when you know what's going on off of it. I'm sure they were good - they were good every time I saw them.

Did they bring back the drummer who sings better than any vocalist they've had since Perry? Deen Castronovo, I think it is. He got fired over criminal charges (again, another "the more you know" situation) but I think he came back after they re-fired Steve Smith.

The bottom line is Journey have made way more news off the stage than they have on it or in the studio in like 30+ years.

I've been calling offense for my son's flag football team this spring. We've got 1 2nd grader, 6 3rd graders, and 3 fourth graders on the team...two of these kids are really good at breathing.

My son snapped the ball the first game and while I looked for a chance to get him the ball it didn't happen. In the second game, which we won surprisingly, He had 2 carries and a catch. Third game, two more carries. He also pulled two flags in these games.

Yesterday, he had three catches...one for a touchdown. Only one of the plays was designed for him to get the ball. On the score, he worked himself open. Defender had no idea he had drifted away. We lost a close one, but my little dude was on cloud nine the rest of the day.

Did Del Monte change the ingredients in their mixed vegetable cans?

Before there was more green stuff and corn. I had a can last night and it was more potatoes and carrots.

If they changed the mixture I might as well just get the store brand. Kroger's mixed vegetables are also heavy on the carrots and potatoes but cost 50 cents less.

Ian Anderson "fired" Martin Barre a couple of years ago.

Ian Anderson tours as Jethro Tull, a bunch of musicians he's worked with for years, he still does the singing but his voice has gone.

Martin Barre tours as "The Martin Barre Band" and plays Jethro Tull songs, got a new singer and if there's an old Tull member around who wants to go a guest slot, it'll be with Martin Barre's band.

My wife decided she didnt want to go to London for her birthday because Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson's version) are playing DC that week. :(

I have long thought that Hardees are just fronts for money laundering. To say they are never busy may be an understatement. When every other restaurant in town is busy, some so busy the drive through line is in the street, Hardees will be a ghost town. You can drive up at noon, and they respond like they are surprised you are there, and then it takes them 20 minutes to get your order ready. I didn't ride by there today, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if that one is closed. That is not just isolated to that one store either. I have noticed that at three close to me here (though one has already closed). How have they stayed open for decades without customers?

That's a truly classic Columbo episode, one of the best finales of the series.

And yeah I imagine Roddy has been seen by more Americans and by a pretty fair margin, by virtue of an earlier career, a longer career and a more varied career he would be much more accessible to the average person.

By the time Malcolm appeared in Clockwork Orange Roddy already had a career as a child star, had been in a Best Picture winner, had appeared in war epics, biblical epics, historical epics, every TV drama anthology known to man, had multiple Broadway hits, won a Tony, had a major part in a sci-fi classic.

And that's before we even really get to all the guest star work he did in the color era of television

and Ratty from Wind in the WIllows

The last was Fright Night :)

But yeah a lot of his big stuff was 60 70s stuff. He worked so much. Malcolm pretty much had Clockwork and everything else was legacy of that. Got into a lot of scifi these past decades

He looks like what you'd get if you told the makeup artist to make Seth Green look 65.

As far as the mustache girl, we actually had an interesting conversation with the in-laws about whether that was intended to be an LGBTQ-positive message in disguise. They were perplexed with what it had to do with the ad, if not to suggest some sort of androgynous character (especially since it is a woman dressing like a gay man). It's clear at the beginning she's not happy about having a mustache, but it seems the point is to go with what makes you "you" (and oh yeah, buy shit from Amazon). It just might be a little too subtle for DeSantis to get mad about - unless all the snowflake feelings haven't percolated to the top of the internet yet so I haven't seen the outrage and calls for a boycott.

I'm not even sure where to put this story but it's one of the more consistent clown shows I've seen in a long time. There was some sort of scuffle yesterday, today a defense attorney got arrested (prescription drugs not in original container, AND assault when he fired his phone at a bailiff), another of the 14 defendants was charged when they found he came to court with 2 bags of pot sown into a extra pair of undies he was wearing. Mind you, this occurs months after one defendant was charged with passing drugs in the courtroom to another defendant & then trying to eat the rest of the stash he was carrying in the courtroom.

Meanwhile, jury selection continues (sort of) with hardship claims still being heard & decided ... we haven't even begun the voir dire process, which will have all 14 defendants attorneys take a stab at any questions they have about prospective jurors answers to a 283 item questionaire.

I've never even noticed such a thing (an actual section devoted to them)... but I wonder if that applies if it's a channel you're subscribed to?

fwiw, I checked both my desktop (99.9999% of my YT usage) and the phone version (i mean, i know it exists) and found no option to even do such a wonderful thing :/

From my desktop, if I go to youtube and scroll down through the initial feed I will eventually find a Shorts section and the innocuous looking X to the right will remove shorts for 30 days, but it's not obvious unless you hover over it:

Thanks for this, worked for my PC but did not translate to my TV (same YT email account).

Any idea how to do similar on an Android TV? I've looked but haven't found a way to turn off shorts. I don't have YT Premium.

I heard a young woman tell a bartender this is the first time she's been south of the Equator.

We're in the Dominican Republic...

I was telling a woman about the jet lag (desynchronosis) that I experienced traveling across time zones to and from South Korea. She replied that the same thing happened to her… flying to Florida… from Rhode Island…

My life in 2023:
Get somewhat excited by the random discovery of a new venue for music, with a couple of interesting acts booked for later in the year

Do some research, discover that it's one of those "table venues"

Lose all enthusiasm and interest in said shows.

I may have a higher bar for who I'll go see these days based on the physical demands of standing around for 3-4 hours ... but better that than sitting on my ass like I'm at a supper club waiting on the pot roast to arrive. I can sit on my ass with no energy at home, save both the gas and the cash.

There are a couple of places like that out here in Northern Cali, The Blue Note and Yoshi's. You can eat and watch the show. Depending on the artist, it's a great way to hear them in an intimate setting. The shows my wife and I have been to have been great. We've even been able to get photos with them since they had to walk through the audience to get to their dressing room.

It's not something I would do for every artist, but for some, it's a much better way to enjoy them live over a larger venue.

I recently went through that kind of awkward concert (I guess show?) experience when the wife and I went to see John Waite at a beautiful theatre in Cincy. We were probably 2 of the youngest people there. Everyone sat during the entire show except for a couple of women 6 rows back dead center who looked like they were reliving their groupie years. It was uncomfortable, honestly. Good show but I felt like I was watching a stand-up comedian's set.

That was something me & the kid did just before he headed back to Miami. First time for both of us too (though Lord knows we've watched enough YouTubers do it) and it is on the list as a high(er) end must do when he comes home in May.

So, yeah, basically same reaction you had.

I will say this about it, the price sure varies crazily by location. You can eat REALLY good at one here in Athens for around $30/person. In Miami you ain't getting out for less than $75/person.

edit to add: In case you happen to find yourself in this neck of the woods, D92 is the good K-bbq here. Lunch just $27 (no shrimp at lunch), "regular" dinner is $30 (13 meats/seafood to choose, ayce of course), "premium" is $35 (adds sliced ribeye & jumuluk). Compared to the prices when I was in FL, it feels like a steal.

Where we ate Sarurday was "Breakers" which was also a chain, and was fantastic. It was $39 a person.

I didn't know Missing You was sung by a man until 2 years ago. I always thought it was a Melissa Etheridge type artist.

I really like the social aspects of the restaurant. I do want to look into recreating some of the flavors at home, but I don't think that will be a substitute of the dining experience. Also, at least around here there is no real easy substitute for the Korean condiments. I would frequent a restaurant if that was all you got.

I've always loved John Waite's voice. I was huge Babys fan in the early 80s (after they broke up, but I was like 9 years old). Didn't care for Bad English, which was essentially a Babys reunion plus Neal Schon, but his post-80s output has been pretty good. Singer/songwriter type of stuff. He recently put out a documentary called The Hard Way that was filmed during the pandemic. He pretty much hates the music industry and the people in it.

This is a crazy story about a local guy who raped two women on golf courses on different occasions, once in Michigan in 1999 and once in Pennsylvania in 2000, and had gotten away with it for over 20 years before finally getting caught due his DNA being sent to a genealogy company and the cops retrieving a used coffee cup of his to confirm the match.

That sucks and I wish that things would trend the other way, like restaurants would somehow figure out a way to get better/dedicated drivers of their own, but of course the end form of all the delivery services flooding the market is somehow just settling into shittier service & higher prices from & for everybody.

I was just coming here to ask if anyone else has like a 25-30% fuckup rate by doordash drivers or if it's just our area.

It seems like they regularly forget a bag back at the restaurant or sometimes just flat out bring the wrong order. And rather than get to deal directly with the restaurant to get it fixed you have to go through door dash.

I don't know how to get the check in European restaurants.

Sometimes I just get up walk over to the server, but, they usually seem shocked by that.

I think I'm supposed to signal them from my table, but I can never get their attention and raising my voice or waving my arm is outside my comfort zone.

I guess culturally I'm supposed to sit there for 2 hours, but, I have a limited time in their beautiful country, we have shit to do.

Of course this also means I'm only getting one beer because they're never checking on us after the food is served. We have somewhat gotten around this by ordering a bottle of wine off the bat instead.

I appreciate that, in Europe, they don't place the bill on the table right after delivering the food. It's kinda refreshing to not be hurried even though there are claims otherwise.

I remember always flagging them down with a raised hand (not waving) and/or saying "excuse me" as they pass by.

Are you having lunch or dinner?

There usually is an expectation that if you came to a restaurant to eat, you have time to sit and enjoy your meal experience. This is especially the case if it is more than one person. The thought is if you just wanted to eat, you would hit a kebab shop, food truck or street vendor. If you tell the staff that you are in a rush, I have found that they will speed up the service though it won't be American fast.

So I'm curious...I know I've done a few things we've regretted. when we were young and there wasn't even tiktok around. What things have you guys done that risked your life for no reason when you were growing up?

My best friend and I were at Turkey Run State Park on a school trip with german club. We were bored of the normal trails so we just started climbing up any embankments we could find. We climbed up to a rocky stone area up to where there was forest. We walked around but there wasn't really another way down. There WAS however a large tree that had fallen over and formed a makeshift bridge to another high rocky forest plateau. I had me a nice wizard staff by this point (I love walking sticks/wizard staffs) and for no reason we started shimmying across. My friend seemed to make it with no problem. I was scared to death however once I started across. Dropped my stick because it was not good to hold it instead of the trunk. I watched it fall we were over like a path between the two rocky plateaus and saw people. THere werte people too (tho i didn't drop it on them) I shimmied across inch by inch and stopped looking down. Eventually I made it across. Oh boy. That was so dumb. We eventually found another way down where there were a lot of people where the water was flowing over this rock. I was so freaked out. I think back at it. If we had fallen off the tree it was like 100 feet down or so. Onto smooth rock. I'm sure if I searched on youtube I'd find things like this really

It was really the only BK in the area that didn't feel like it was staffed by Tyrone Biggum's friends & family ... which, come to think of it, actually having some hiring standards might be why it was perpetually shortstaffed.

But they better still be giving us the new season of Futurama!

Mrs. A and I were discussing this weekend plants and animals that we all don't even think of as weird because they exist, so they seem normal. But if they didn't exist, and they appeared in science fiction, you'd be impressed with the creativity of the author:

Giraffes
Venus Fly Traps
Caterpillars-->Butterflys
Kangaroos

Humans.

I don't get anyone past the age of 14 liking dessert cereal.

Honestly, I have real objections to parents buying that stuff for their kids. It is like when they sell as muffins what are in fact just giant cupcakes. With these cereals, they take an already highly-processed simple carbohydrate product and just add a lot of sugar. If you put the same ingredients in a wrapper and stuck it in the Snacks or Sweets aisles, people would criticize serving that fro kids as a meal. Instead, the word Cereal serves as a fig leaf for being part of a complete healthy breakfast.

The eating habits of this country are beyond embarrassing, and the scourge of avoidable medical conditions that result imposes a real cost on everyone in society. Teaching kids at least good practices and an awareness of the fact that what you put into your body has real consequences should be among the basic standards of sound parenting.

I bet you're just a joy at parties

I guess others would have to be the judges of that. Generally, the people at the parties I attend do not consider a desire to educate children out of a concern concern for their long-term health to be cause for derision.

Why are baby foxes so damn cute? I noticed some digging near the steps to my house. I set up some game cameras, and there are apparently two litters of kits living in a den they dug under my front steps. I counted 7 of the little things on one of the videos. I've got a bunch of videos of them playing, nursing when the momma foxes come around, and also have vids of the big foxes bringing back birds and mice they've caught.

Posting this here instead of the Shooting thread because it's off-topic and a bit too lighthearted for that thread.

Random/odd personal fact about the place they caught the Texas shooting suspect - Cut and Shoot TX. Memorable name for a town. We lived in College Station for less than 2 awful years in the early 80s and at some point, we made our way through Cut and Shoot (it's roughly between CS and Houston). We stopped for gas and a bathroom break somewhere. My brother, who was maybe 8 or 9 at the time, was going through a phase where he would rate the cleanliness of every public bathroom he came across. That day, he pronounced the bathroom at whatever gas station we stopped at in Cut and Shoot TX to be the cleanest bathroom he'd ever been in.

Last night when the news of the suspect being captured broke and it specifically mentioned Cut and Shoot, we all texted each other roughly about the same time about how we wondered if Cut and Shoot still had the cleanest bathroom.

Go in-state if possible.

Ehhhhhh ... the trick is getting the right offers from out-of-state. Then suddenly it's a completely different ball game. Then the cost difference can be negligible.

The tricky part about that is it's tougher to pull off if you haven't spent several years finagling and focusing on that.

2FA can bite my ass.

One company I use requires it. Which is great, until they suddenly stop being able to send out the verification emails.

For the last 48 hours I've been trying to get in. Overnight while I slept I received about 8 emails, but they were all expired by the time I woke up (might have been expired by the time I actually received them too).

I wish I could just turn it off. As of now I'm locked out of my account despite having my password.

So it was weird. First off it gave me a massive headache.

It wasn't like in a show or the movies. There was no "follow this watch"

The therapist came highly recommended from a trusted source. I did it because I at times make impulsive decisions that aren't always healthy for me. Nothing dire, but enough of a pattern I wanted to address it.

It took an hour, which flew by, and I was definitely in and out of consciousness. It was more like meditation where he basically inserted a place in my subconscious that I can access when I need to.

I had this same issue with Xfinity a few weeks back. They'd send a code, it'd come an hour later, the site said it expired, repeat.

I have to do my office's annual cyber security training.

But this year they changed it from text to video, so I can't just skim through it and take the (easy) test at the end. I have to sit through a bunch of un-skippable videos. Sigh.
