Been there. My dad used to have a church just outside of Mitchell, so we did our family Xmas gatherings at the inn there in the park.

In the first month with my new Mac (about 2 years ago, IIRC) I had to have the motherboard replaced followed by the hard drive a few weeks later. So, after numerous OS re-installs after the hard drive was replaced I took it back again and they replaced the RAM, as well. That seemed to work for a few months but then it was back to locking up at least once every other day. Brought it back again and they refused to give me an entire new machine (seeing as they already replaced pretty much everything they can replace) so I told them to shove it as I didn't want to continue to replace components and spend more time re-installing the OS for the umpteenth time.

Glad I didn't pay for it and work did because I'd be right pissed paying over $2,000 for a computer my wife uses to check her email and Facebook while I use my 5-year old Lenovo T60p with Windows 7 (which has also had several Linux flavours running on it over the years) for all my computing needs...including work and what little gaming I do.

DG, my wife wouldn't like me having sex with mermaids but watching them do it would be fine, I'm sure.

Damn. That royally sucks. No wonder it left a bad taste in your mouth. Unfortunately, that does happen from time to time with any computer manufacturer. The worse that's happened to me was a fried graphics card when I worked at Apple. It was a nVidia card, so not really an Apple product. All the machines we tested on were the exact same machines that one could buy at the store unless it was a prototype. Most of the problems I ran into while testing was with a new version/build of the OS and the machine I was working on would get Kernel panics, but, even those didn't happen that much.

I will just never go back to a Windows based PC for as long as I live. I'd use some version of Linux instead. I'm not sure exactly what you're proposing I should do to stop an outdoor/barn cat from eating its own litter hidden somewhere on my 40 acres. Maybe you also expect me to stop it from raining when my neighbor's roof leaks. Or maybe you're just an idiot. Hard to tell from the material you've given me to work with here.

I've seen them remove the sickly ones, push them away until they starved to death or simply dump them several hundred feet away from the rest of the litter. It's not un-rare for a mother cat to flat-out kill the "extra", "wrong", sick or puny kittens.

The only oddity about this one was that the mother cat ate her own seemingly healthy offspring and decided to bring me the remains. I mean, I understand why she's not eating the heads. Too much bone/cartilage for the investment. I'm just not sure why she brings them to me.

Does this cat have a favorite playmate cat? Kinda of like a best friend she hangs out with? If so, next time your cat seems to be in baby eating mode, find it's friend and chop it's head off. When she presents you with a head of it's baby, present her with the head of her friend. It's like trading gifts and probably a sign of respect in the cat world.

Just to be clear: I don't keep these cats like they're feral. We feed/water them twice a day. We play with them. They have shelter readily available in the barn. Most of them lounge on the porch all day long.

Fuck you for calling me an idiot. I didn't realize it was an outdoor/barn cat, and I didn't realize you had 40 acres of land (neither of which points you mentioned).

In that sense it's much more understandable. Nothing in your post indicated that information - therefore I assumed it was a typical "house cat."

This happened a couple of years ago when the red dust from the desert got swept up from a violent storm and blew across the city. This was taken at about 9-9:30 in the morning and yet by 1 or 2pm it had gone and it was lovely blue sky.

Waking up to this was quite weird. I was actually working on the day. I started about 3 in the morning and didn't know it had blanketed the city until daylight a few hours later. Street lights and everything were still on until the dust cloud went away.
