Vinatieri for Prez

So, I was sitting back trying to load up an old game of mine (Talonsoft's Westfront) on my relatively new laptop. Westfront was a game I used to play on my desktop a few years ago. Anyways, the box says the requirements are Windows 95 or 98, and it ran fine on the desktop which had Windows 98.
Well, it loads fine on the laptop, and I managed to transfer my saved game files too. And even when I run the game, initially everything is fine and the main menu comes up where you select options, etc. However, when I go to play a game, a message pops up and says "sorry, not supported on Windows NT" and then kicks me out of the game.
First off, I have Windows XP on my laptop, so I am not sure why NT pops up on the message. But my main question is there anyway to make this run on XP? In other words, are there some tricks or commands that can be inputted to make it work, or am I screwed? Any help from you techies out there would be much appreciated.
You know, I have been more pissed at XP rather than thankful. I have never seen it do anything new for me from Windows 98 other than have a bunch of automatic settings and so called shortcuts that I don't want. If it means I can't load up old games now and then, I think it's total BS that Microsoft can't make it compatible with older stuff.
