They took my return even though I went just over the 2 hour limit, but I had to call the Microsoft Store Support.
Really bummed with just how poorly this runs on XB1. While RMPGAT has plenty of issues itself, they at least made a game that works. Having to connect their servers for every menu press is ridiculous.
There is no excuse for how poorly the game looks and runs when you compare what gameplay and graphics of EA's game. But then, I guess getting the gameplay down first didn't pan out so well for EA.
Need to get you one of them there fancy Scorpios I reckon
The game sure doesn't run or look poor on PS4. And to compare a small indie company to the size of EA and say no excuse it doesn't look as pretty? Come on man. You're entitled to your opinion but you're exaggerating with the negativity.
You guys are not getting booted off like every couple holes on PS4?
Unforutnely. I'm confident it'll be fixed quickly. If it's this way in a couple weeks, then I'll be upset. It happens, super small company that came in with a $39.99 price tag. They've earned my patience.
I mean I'm fine with the graphics on Xbox one. They aren't the best but they look good. Game seems to run fine too. I just can't play because I'm losing connection every 4 swings.

If pay an extra 20 to be able to play a round with my friend on launch day. Games launching like this is getting old quick.
Yeah I figured it was but I'm more concerned about the loft mechanic.... It'd be really really tough, especially on Tour clubs difficulty, to dial in a 90% swing even with pinpoint aiming instead of range.
Again, as much as I dislike this mechanic, the game overall is really well done. I wish there was an option to disable the loft mechanic, that's all. Maybe they can patch something like that in.

I was not able to "dial in" shots at all in Beta. It is a crap shoot and very easy to overdo the loft and end up way short.
I think there's alot of exaggeration going on here right now with this game. I bought it for my XB1. My buddy picked it up for his PS4 (mind you, not a pro) and I spent the afternoon at his place playing it with him. There's no way at all on either console I'd call it beautiful, or incredible, or great. On either console it looks nothing like the screenshots they showed which were obviously from high end PC's. Even the screens on the XB store, they look nothing like the game. It's pretty clear they're from a different, maxed out platform.
Look, does it look good for a 39.99 or 49.99 (Canadian) price point game? Yup. For sure. It's serviceable, and I can live with that because of the price point, I expected that. Is it anywhere near what these consoles are capable of? absolutely not. Lets not kid ourselves with that. I know we like to root for the smaller developers, and HB/Maximum have done a great job in their 2 versions of this game, but lets not lose perspective here. I get it, we're happy we have a good, new golf game to play, but lets not get carried away that this game on either console is visually stunning as a 2018, XB1/PS4 gen title.
Personally, the more I play it, the more I like it over TGC1 which I wasn't a huge fan of, but I think the praise here on the visuals on the consoles has gotten to a bit of an extreme. Maybe I'm a graphics snob... I dont know, I'm just saying, for what it is and where it came from, yes, it looks good given that. It's just nothing I'd warrant calling beautiful or impressive, etc. etc. It's a quality, fun game though.
I too though and sure they will get their server issues sorted out. I'm sure it's not how they planned their launch to go, TGC1 didn't have many server issues I recall, so I'm sure that will be sorted out.
Now, time for me to have some fun in the course designer! Easily my most favorite part of this game. My mission, to create my local course that I play on quite frequently. Maybe I'll get better at real golf if I play it enough on my tv.... lol probably not.

I am (PS4). I haven't finished a round yet. I try to be patient and understanding: small company, niche market, all that stuff. But at the same time, when you buy something, you have a reasonable expectation that it will work the way it's supposed to when you take it home to use it. I was really looking forward to launch day and trying this game out, and now it's just, "Why bother loading it? I probably will just get booted out of my game anyway."

Some of you guys man.. seriously. Does it look photorealistic? No. Has anyone said that? No.
Does it look really freaking good on a PS4 with 4K tv? You bet. Blows the socks off TGC1. You playing on a 4K? If not, maybe your tv is holding you back from seeing the upgrade? Don't know. What I do know is im not exaggerating and I think the only exaggeration going on is calling this game "a beta", "unfinished product", etc.
This is more complete and has more features than RMPGA had at launch yet we wanna compare the two and say this one sucks. Smh.

All I know is this....During my fourth and last round, any time I was in the fairway with Tour clubs, I was able to hit the green. I finished +2 because of the holes I didn't hit the fairway or three putting etc. But when in position off the tee, I could manipulate any club's loft where the distance was no longer a concern since I was going full swing and it was just about swinging with good tempo.
Full disclosure, this was with pinpoint aiming and not range but that will be the default settings for a lot of online tournaments which is why I say the mechanic shouldn't even exist on that difficulty level.

No. I'm not playing on a 4k tv. Nor do I need one to see the upgrade. I've already stated the visuals are much better than TGC1. I'm just saying, for some to sit here and say it looks beautiful and other things like that, is a bit crazy to me. Is it an upgrade? Yup. I already stated that. Is it what we should expect out of either console? Absolutely not IMO. Is it acceptable from a smaller dev? Yes. All of those things I've said. I've not said a word about RMPGA... but if you want to go there, it's by far a better looking and running game visually on either console, that's not really up for debate IMO. As for the gameplay, IMO, both have their merits. Not sure why we're so quick to jump to playing the comparison game here. I guess that's kind of what I'm getting at though. There seems to be this insatiable need here to praise this game, and I get it, small studio, great effort, pretty solid game for what they've got to work with, I'm just not sure though why were trying to pass it off in it's current state as something worthy of these consoles. Look, I'm not bashing it here. I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would, and it plays and looks far better than TGC1, no doubt, I'm just saying, lets not get too carried away here. That's all.
The connection issues, yeah, that's a problem. Like you though, I can overlook it temporarily. That doesn't mean I find it acceptable though either, because it's not. For any game company IMO. However, I get it given their position in the industry. So, I'll give them time to work it out. I do agree though, not sure how we can clamor it's unfinished or a beta at this point either. It's clearly finished IMO, just having some server issues. Maybe they didn't expect the server load they got with some good sales today, or maybe some of the new online features caused some issues, who knows, but I'm sure they'll iron it out because I dont recall these issues with TGC1.
Like I said, I just feel like some of the over the top praise here might lead some astray. I found it a bit... outside of reality. Again, not taking anything away from it being an upgrade, it is... but it's not like it took a jump from TGC1 to what you'd expect from a XB1/PS4 game.
