Madden NFL 17 Equipment Upgrades - Helmets, Facemasks, Gloves, Cleats & More

A lot of you have been waiting for the Madden NFL 17 team to show off the equipment upgrades this year. Today is the day! The team has added a few helmets and updated some others. They have also brought in new facemasks and updated some more. New gloves, cleats and other accessories were also added this year. Check out the list below and the full blog here.

New Accessories
  • One-Arm Sleeves - These will be set on each player that wears this style via the default roster so the players in Madden will match their real-world counterparts; these sleeves can also be customized when editing and creating players.
  • Updated Wrist-Tape Options - Black, Team Primary Color and Team Secondary Colored Wrist-Tape
  • Updated the Ankle-Tape options and re-named them to 'Half-Spat' and 'Full-Spat'
  • All the new sleeves, gloves and shoes are set-up for color-swapping to match each team’s primary and secondary colors, as well as black and white.

confirmed also besides customizing what they wear created coaches will also finally wear headsets!!

NFL doesn't allow those logos on the shoes in real life.

Id love to see how the full Spat tape looks on the players, the half looks good but my main issue was how the bulky tape looked on years past in Madden, hoping its more then just a name change.


Other then that I am very impressed, close up instant replays will look amazing this year.

Definitely a good start. I felt that the inclusion of more real equipment in MLBTS really upped the visual immersion level this year. I think it will do the same for Madden.

Here's to hoping that this is the beginning of a long-term push to overhaul all the equipment in the game.

Most importantly, they finally scaled the helemts to fit they players heads. They actually stick on there like helmets and not beanies, nice. Still wish they would add the ability to globally set the long sleeve colors to the different team colors, that way your players are uniform in January football

Anyone else feel like the uniforms now look a bit outdated? The helmets and new gear look so amazing... That it looks out of place on the 'painted on' style of uniforms. I hope frostbite allows for layers to be created like ea nhl does

Player Exclusive Retro. Interesting. Was licensing on those Jordan VI difficult? How are they able to use it's likeness? Is just not using the logos enough to avoid issues or are there small details that were left off to avoid any licensing problems?

Maybe they have the rights but the NFL forbade using the name
