NBA 2K14 News Post

Ronnie and LD2K mentioned last week, during their NBA 2K14 livestream, patch #5 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 was close to being submitted to Microsoft and Sony.

Today they revealed the patch has been submitted and we should see it arrive in 10 to 14 days, possibly even sooner.

The patch will address some MyTEAM issues, update shoes and much more (that's all I could get out of them). Patch notes will be released when the patch goes live.

The thing that bugs people is the silence on any news about things such as this last patch. There's people asking about it, and Manning and Ronnie's twitter is always on fire with talk about MyTeam. Has been since early January where literally the only thing they talk about is MyTeam. It's been 14 days. Can we get an update on if it will be a few more days? Another week? Whatever, just something. Dont why the first year of next-gen in regards to basketball games have been such a teeth-pull-exercise for information.

Dude. What do you want them to tell you? They're guess is as good as yours. The patch is in the hands of Sony and Microsoft now. There's nothing for Ronnie to tell you.

This is like taking someone's car to the shop for them and then having them bugging you to death about when the car will be ready after you've relayed from the shop to them that it'll be a few days. You don't know at that point, whenever the shop calls you and tells you it's ready.

They could let us know how things are going with the patch. Did they need to resubmit, what is the target. They could hint on what the fix going to resolve. The fact that they kept customers in the dark for two months, should be enough to change the quiet culture.

They have not earned fans, but lost them. If live is playable, people will choose it next year. Its really simple... let the customer feel like they are apart of the process and not just the game play testing process.

Lots of money to be made when customers are happy.

Except customers are never happy. Not in the video game business certainly.

lol, nah i can name plenty of games that have mostly happy customers. Mainly because they don't have that many flaws. Look at games like Last of Us, Outlast, Metal Gear Series etc. Just saying, unhappy customers definitely is NOT the norm with all video games.

This is the first version of 2K that I've been unhappy with. I think the reasons are obvious.

That "the customers are never happy" stuff is BS when it's related to this game.

Metal Gear fans happy?

Just about every game that's not in it's first iteration have a section of chronically unhappy fans. Comes with the territory.

(That's not to say that peoples issues with 2k are not legitimate though)

This is the first version you've been unhappy with? Well that settles it, we're all squared away here. Nothing more to talk about. You've been happy all this time. Definitely makes my point mute because I was talking specifically about you and not the consumer base as a whole. There's always some tangent of fans bitching about something in literally ever product line in the world. Movies, tv, video games, music, comic books, etc.

True, but mainly because it got to a point where totally unfinished products are released for sale.
Customers in the automobile business where outraged as well if half of the motor was missing.
And rightfully so!

I gotta ask you King, Are you satisfied with NBA2K14 NextGen? What would you like to see patched specifically other than MyTeam?

I can't speak for Microsoft but didn't Sony only ever release patches on a Friday? Or has that changed since the release of the PS4. I know it was always the case on the PS3.

I've played metal gear since metal gear solid on ps1, i'd say metal gear fans in general seem a lot more happy than a lot of 2k fans i see, so yeah lmao.

And that's not true either, I mentioned Last of Us and Outlast, as just a few examples. Again, having that many unhappy fans is NOT the norm.

# 97 iker30 @ 05/14/14 05:55 PM
I guess nothing will change after the patch, at least for me. I don't play my team anymore and I don't really need new shoes (why new shoes but no headbands for lebron and melo in My GM???). Basically, why adding new unnecessary stuff instead of fixing (smaller or bigger) issues that have been there for years? That's just to show us that they care so much about us.

BTW when 2k decided to several versions of legends, espacially MJ, the first thought just HAD to be that people might going to put several versions in one lineup. How could you not fix that earlier???

Outlast and The Last of Us are first iterations...what would fans be upset about? Lol

and if you found a lot of happy fans with MGS5, the worst selling MG game in history...then that's cool, they forgot to speak with their wallet though...

I've played since the first too..and a good bit of folks are worried about the direction of the series after revengance and the money grab that is 5...but hey, maybe we visit two different forums...

So when the new emerald player packs drop in 48 hours according to twitter does that mean the patch will come or is it 2 different subjects???

There are no 'big issues' remaining in 2K14. Just subjective things people wish would change that other people wish would stay the same. Those are two very different things.
