So the past few days I tinkered around. Played on All Madden, the AI for the User and CPU is completely messed up. The whole flow of the game is just totally off.

- Played on slow speed on all difficulties, the CPU AI just becomes completely dumb on slow speed. They can't move the ball at all, their ball carriers don't attempt any special moves what so ever.

- Moved the penalties to 60. AI became dumb as well.

- Moved the sliders to 60 and to 40, AI became dumb both times.

So my conclusion, normal speed, default All Pro is the way to go. I can hit wide WRs in stride. I can lead the ball to where ever I want on the field. Don't see a lot of interceptions. I can truck defenders when I want. I can stiff arm defenders when I want. I can juke when I want. Don't have problems breaking tackles. Don't have problems making tackles in the open field in 1 on 1 situations.

To me the problem is the sliders, penalties, game speed and All Madden difficulty. Change any slider, penalty setting, game speed setting or play on All Madden you will just end up with a ton of issues to the point it looks like you playing last gen Madden with all the old legacy issues.
My own observations match yours to a 'T'. Of course your YMMV, but I am seeing the exact same thing.

Is it true about player progression? I heard to turn it on and just not do anything. This being since the CPU doesn't receive the points, but does this mean that players will never grow?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, sorry

GMSS, how is the cpu run defense on default AP?

Depends on who you are using and who you are playing against. Against a good defensive front or if you are using a team with an average offensive line, it takes me over 20 carries to crack 100 yards. Some games I been held under 100.

Trying to run or pass with a poor line is a terrible and humbling experience.

Sounds good. I've never been a stellar player, and was thinking of picking this up. I'd love to play on AP with no slider adjustments and have a challenging experience. I have it for 360, and really enjoy it for what it is. I must be getting old.

I feel the more I play, the more little, things I notice that pop out at me.

I so really like how smooth my online games have been

I played a snow game and noticed the head coach finger tips were red from the cold. I also saw a lot of over throws and off target throws in the game as well.

My favorite defensive end move to do is the inside shoulder dip. Pretty nasty move to do. After a few times though the CPU AI will adjust and start double teaming against it. But when that happens I will just hit them with the spin move.

Mainly though I don't user control my defensive lineman too often though. I rather be one of the safeties. But one can definitely generate a User pass rush when ever they want if they choose to do so. Just like the User can lead their WR and place the ball where ever they want as well if they have a good enough QB.

Im having a hard time getting a consistent run game going on the ps4, now with the higher rated teams its a little easier but still a problem. I finding myself running into my linemen on running plays. Now i also own the xbox one also and i dont find myself running into my linemen as much as i do on the ps4. This is with default normal speed on pro and all pro. Anyone else seeing this on either system?

If you running into your own linemen a lot, you are going too fast.

this happens right after i get the hand off, and i not touching the sprint button. But if i turn the speed down to slow, which does help some, but then the cpu offense does'nt move the ball as well compared to normal speed.

How are you consistently pulling off the shoulder dip edge rush? I loved that from the 360 version but it rarely happens for me on the PS4. The CPU never does it. And if I get lucky I can do it once every other game. What's your technique? Sliders?

Right stick up. It is all in the timing.

I just played 2.5 games, Steelers vs Cincy and couldn't pull it off once. I tried to time right before contact, right after contact, and after they are thoroughly engaged. I get a breakaway animation or an underneath swim move. It must be a setting im using. if I can get this working and the infinity engine physics working like I want, I will be completely satisfied till next august.

Is this game worth getting?

I got frustrated with the PS3 version because I hate the fact that it needs all this fine tuning with the sliders.
Is the running game still over powered?

I'd just love it if it was more like NBA2K, ready out of the box.

Thanks for any advice

If you didn't have ps3 and you had to have a football game, I'd say yes. But... No.

Please speak for yourself, man. I don't trust them at all, frankly. That trust was killed over the last 9 years. It's going to take more than one good effort to get that back. Make a great game. Not a good game. A GREAT game, first. I'm not from Missouri, but you're going to have to show me first before I trust them.

Well after a full month of playing Madden on PS4 for many hours over the past month. This is the first time where i am still playing the game just as much as i normally do the first week i buy madden. I am truly having a fun time playing this game. Oh and running the ball is soooo much better now with true step. I had to give it some time to get down the "new" learning curve with running the ball but MAN once i got it down...it is a BLAST to run the ball. After tweaking the sound sliders..i have on-field SFX turned up and the rest of the sound sliders turned down...man that made things feel even better as little as that seems.

I am having a lot of fun exciting games..especially after tweaking the sliders a bit for my own personal preference. I never go by other peoples sliders because that kind of thing is more suited as personal preference but other all the game is SOLID this year on next gen, to my surprise.

All these next gen games that came out on the launch of these new systems are HONESTLY "CROSS-GEN" games...what we have here is not even near what the PS4 and X1 can do...so this is a good thing imho. There is much MUCH more work needed though..and now there is no more excuses about hardware limitations. I hope Tiburon really has not shown what it can do visually with Madden. I HOPE we see some major improvements with the graphics come August 2014. And of course AI Logic/gameplay/animations,presentations,etc

A some core things to immediately come to mind that need major work still..

1. Player models need a total revamp. These are clearly last gen player models being reused and only enhanced. Tiburon..you guys need to make a change with player models..just get something new that feels fresh..do NOT do this to us. Player models just seem so last gen because THEY ARE! This is 2013

2. Animations need a lot of work...during gameplay, after the whistle, etc when a play is over they need to work on these robotic swivel animations after a play is over. They need to work on the animations when a player crosses the goal line and goes into its TD celebration..there is a slight 2 second pause after the player crosses the goal line then pauses *player stands still* then goes into his TD celebration..this is such a small thing that sticks out sooooo ugly!

3. A pre-game, half time, post game, mid week show would be HUGE if done right.

4. Many more inbetween,pre/after play cut-scenes. I like the cutscenes in madden right now but each year these must be renewed and added with many more until there is so many that it never gets old. Tiburon is headed in the right direction but much more is needed.

5. Commentary needs a lot more dialog added..not bad right now but more work is needed.

6. Last but not least...AI Logic - Obviously there is much more work needed but with these new powerful consoles..i am expecting a new level of AI Logic to be implemented.. Tiburon you guys GOT a good thing going finally ..do NOT blow it.

i could say a lot of good things about this game as well as bad.
the running game and game play in general is the best they have done yet.

graphically madden 2012 is better than next gen the problem with this game
that i have seen and trust me i have tinkered with color on all 3 of my tvs
i have a samsung 8000 series and samsung 7000 series and samsung 6000 series
i have played it on all three televisions and found the best thing you can do is turn down your backlight and contrast once you do then you will see more of the shaders they are trying to use in this game.

Image quality is still a little blurry no mater what, because the drawing distance they use is a little off or out of focus
example you will notice it on players faces on sideline when there tape they are wearing on face disappears and re appears as the camera pans in and out. also the color white that is rendered in the game is so bright, no matter what i did i could not make the white color on uniforms softer to ease the eye strain it causes hard to read players names on the back cause the color white in the game is so off or too vibrant.

a lot of the new cyber scans of players look funny or nothing like the real player. the cut scenes they use or system to show players on sidelines needs to be changed i seen one of calvin johnson looking shorter than his coach. they do not represent true players heights. i guess the most important thing to ea when doing these is for you to see the players faces rather than how they would look in real life next to each other.

the sounds on field and stadium are amazing one of the best parts of the game and the anouncers are the best yet of any madden game.

this version does not show exterior views of the stadiums i was really sad to see they omitted this instead you get to see interior pans of cameras in the stadium most times the camera angle they use do not work to bring anything to the table. a waiste of time if you ask me.

the replays or cut scenes of big plays is slightly higher angle than madden 25 xbox 360 you can not see there faces as well as you can in madden 25 old gen i guess they did not want you to see the crappy faces they made for next gen.
you do not have to have a gold account to get roster updates or user made files i found this to be an amazing thing to do but it will change next year once more people have bought the system.

CPU A.I is amazing and you will have many challenges you will not win every game and the cpu can run the ball. i did not see the chain gang so i am assuming it is not there. the game also has some zoom ins of coaches after big plays. that had josh looman written all over it nice touch.
field degradation is ok but not what i would expect from next gen.
