I think the thing that actually irritated me the most in that video was that the on-field chatter didn't match the on-field actions. When A&M ran that screen play, you could hear the LSU players/sideline yell "Screen! Screen!" which is great. The problem is, nobody on LSU responded to the screen play even after identifying that A&M was running it. In all actuality, they responded just like they did in NCAA 13, NCAA 12 and etc. by most all of them chasing after the QB and leaving the HB wide open. It almost feels like a slap in the face by EA. Like if we hear the defense respond to the play we're running, we wouldn't notice that they aren't actually responding to the play we're running.

Listen yall, same dev team = same results. This team is just incapable of capturing the essence of CFB. They just cant do it... They think they've done a good job but honestly, they have no clue that its not a band but a symphony that makes up a complete game. This same game with realistic running animations, transition animations, crowd noise & chants, stat overlays, highlights, real TV style replays, real commentary, yard markers & correct equipment would do wonders for this game. EA just doesn't understand this...Its little things that bring the game to life..

I am fearful for the next gen of NCAA football. This generation was such a disaster that I don't know if the team has what it takes to do it right the next round. The first game on PS3 was awful. Just a shell of a football game. There has been some progress made, but it has taken 7 years and we are still dealing with problems that weren't apparent in the previous generation when there were some very solid games. Plus, there is a marketing aspect to it. Why would they give us a great game on next gen right away when they can take years to get it right, sucking money from us every year as they "work to get it right." I can easily see why they do what they do.

I can see where you're coming from however its seems a flawed strategy. The way things are going there is such a mistrust of EA and there abilities.

Surely it wold be a better strategy to build an AAA product, and even with minor additions every year people would still buy. I know I would like I do with the Show every year.

These Tiburon games need a massive rebuild and hopefully Next Gen will deliver that.

I won't hold my breath though.

It's looked like this FOR THIS ENTIRE GENERATION. I'm not quite sure what you guys are expecting it to look like, but if you went into this video planning on seeing something completely different, you're kidding yourself.
This was put out there to make us WANT TO BUY THE GAME

People were expecting physics and smarter AI....not too much to ask for

While that is true, this was deliberately put together by EA to show off the game and make us want to buy it, you think they'd have shown something showing off the engine

Someone in the know at TSO said the R icon only shows up on the read man when playing on freshman or varsity, so at least there is that

No. The commentary needs work but you know what...that's not a deal breaker for me.

Gameplay Video:

Love some of the trench animations and how much smoother the game looks over NCAA12 and NCAA13. IMO anyone saying this game looks like last years honestly isn't looking at this objectively.

I keep saying it, but this game looks like a blast from the past, in HD. Isn't that what we've all been asking for? Go back to what worked? Here it is. Looks great, looks like it plays great, Dynasty improved...

NCAA07 through 13 on XBOX360 have been turds. This looks legit. Can't wait to see more and play the demo, hopefully tuesday.
These are my thoughts on this matter as well.Good post and well put.

The colors popped, which is an improvement over 13. Maybe I just have really low standards. Its not like I've loved EA football this gen. In fact I haven't. But I like football games, and I did see some improvement in the video.

I feel like a pariah. Almost scared to not share the opinion of the majority of OS that the game is already garbage.
I agree with you on the colors. I was skeptical when I first saw pics a while back, thinking they had been worked on for some artificial pop, but it looks like they nailed it this year in that regard.

Nothing else in the video impressed me though. Yes, my standards are low as well, I have given up on having sim college football gameplay this gen, but still, when the physics engine is arguably the biggest addition of the year it is pretty dogpoop to not see any evidence of it in the first gameplay video.

I'm not gonna be a Chicken Little yet, but, not a good start. At All.

This is all getting old real quick... Like c'mon now? I think i kinda feel sorry for EA.. Yeah they are worth millions, but its pretty bad when something that powerful, can't quite get football right. At the end of the day its a video game, and those are never perfect, but what was this video supposed to show? Why wasn't I wowed? Why does it look the same as last year? I have to agree and say like everyone else that I will will look to next gen to turn a new leaf. I predict EA NCAA/ NFL, will have its lowest sales on the PS3/360 this year.

NCAA not so much, because there won't be a next gen counterpart when the One and PS4 launch.

Madden maybe, just because some people are going to wait until the new console comes out.

According to this video, whoever was coaching up the LSU linebackers needs to be let go. They just stand there while the OL runs 7 yards out to them and then the chicken fighting begins. IRL, linebackers (like all defenders) have keys to react to (true Read and React defense). When a lineman fires out to block downfield, the LBs should at least step up to fill their gap/responsibility. This read is usually done within the first few steps a lineman makes -- not 7 yards.

On a side note, I didn't get NCAA last year but did get Madden. Watching this video I expected it to look more like madden in terms of gameplay. It looked the same as the last NCAA I played a few years ago.

Because if it's in the game this is quite possibly the WORST thing they've put in this year. It takes away all the unpredictability of running read option, as you are always gonna see how the lineman/rusher is reacting and which person it is.

I'm pretty sure in real life football when QB's scan the defense they dont see a massive "R" hovering above the rusher's head :P
That "R" only appears on freshman and sophomore difficulty levels. A guy from TGT posted that yesterday.

The more they work with the new Madden devs the better off they will be. The main additions to ncaa gameplay are because of Clint Oldenburg(run blocking) and Victor Lugo(IE2). Those guys are key components to the madden team and working with them more would be a great idea. I also like what OS' own Christian McLeod is doing with Presentation too, but unfortunately it seems like both ncaa and madden on current gen are getting some of the right guys in place too late for this gen. This does give a reason for optimism for next gen though, especially if ncaa is getting the Ignite engine.

I still think this will be the best NCAA game this gen. I think with a solid roster, probably with global edits to agility to see real differences in that regard with the new physics, dynasty could be pretty fresh and have longevity as long as the CPU isn't brain dead.

I do think roster makers will have their hands full but their work will be as appreciated this year more than ever.

I speculate that they were playing on Freshman. I hope so.

I mean, wow. The CB still has the momentum to stand up the RB like that? Why did the S just run into an invisible wall and slide off instead of finishing up the tackle? Where is the IE on this play?

The CB is running full speed into the ball carrier. That would account for the physics! What I do notice is that the OL is actually drive blocking and not just pattycaking. Now I need to see some passing plays to determine if the pass rush has been improved.

The CB running from that angle and hitting a ball carrier cutting to the right isn't a sign of physics. That same stand them up and push them back, regardless of size and speed tackle has been in NCAA. It's def an indication of pre-determined canned animations. That S should have been in on the tackle too, instead of just bouncing off and not having any effect.

Why is this thread labeled NCAA 14 game play when this is clearly NCAA 13... NCAA 12... NCAA 11....

Not trying to be a tool here, but what exactly is it that gives you reason for optimism for this series on next gen? With the exception of sharper colors, I see absolutely no difference from NCAA 13. Or NCAA 12.

The gameplay is horrific, as they are no closer to accurately representing OL/DL interaction. Every player still skates, and runs as if they are a blood relative of Quasimodo. There is not one thing in this game (including something so simple as the size of the football), that is in any way comparable to what we see on Saturdays. I want to be optimistic. I really do. And I was for years. But, EA has defecated on my dreams.
