Your job as a representative for EA is to gather that information, and get it back to the powers that be at EA. Not be completely dismissive of your customer base. We greatly appreciate the information. But please as a professional
I'm neither a representative of EA nor a "professional" whatever it is you assume I am. My opinions are my own and they do not reflect the opinions of EA or anyone but myself. I've sent ManiacMatt a PM but I just wanted to clear that up for everyone else.

Anyway, the powers that be at EA are already well aware that things like custom season length, custom rosters, manual draft, etc. are big features so they will definitely be considered for future iterations and looked at for NHL 14 and beyond.

Custom sliders and custom rosters certainly aren't unreasonable demands given that both have been present for a few years now in NCAA Football 13's Online Dynasty mode.

The same for custom schedule length. It's been a regular feature in sports games that have online leagues going all the way back to NHL 2K5.

You may not be paid, but your title of game changer makes you a representative of EA to the community. Whether you like it or not, as long as you have the title, that's exactly what you are. You have communications with EA's developers and producers that we don't have. You are entitled to your own opinions, but you still shouldn't be so dismissing of the communities ideas, especially if its ideas that are coming from multiple users.

I agree. I guess my time here has allowed me to sift through the knee jerk comments and get to legitimate gripes. I am bummed about the lack of customization, but it is also leaps and bounds better than what we had before. I just wish they took the 2k11 way of online leagues before the NBA 2k12 online association debacle, and added the multi season aspects.

I really hope we don't get into a situation where EA spends all their time focusing on this new "Play with 13,000 of your closest friends!" GM mode. While neglecting the offline BAGM people...

Be A GM will benefit this year from all the improvements to the trade logic and AI (dubbed the "GM Brain") being introduced w/ GMC, as well as the "Build Your AI" feature (advanced strategies, systems, tendencies, etc.) and other features so it definitely hasn't been forgotten.

The @EASPORTSNHL account recently said Be A GM has seen "major tweakage," so while that likely doesn't constitute any sort of overhaul some pure offline guys might have been hoping for, I'm sure it will be a nice improvement over last year's version.

Thanks for all the responses on everyone's issues/questions Luger. Much appreciated!

One rule setting am particularly interested in. Will we have the option to set ost whistle rules to authentic. I would like to curtail some of the after whistle shenanigans in my league. or at least punish it with penalties.

That was another thing that didn't work last year. Post whistle rules would be set to authentic, but you could plow over a goalie unprovoked and no penalty.

They worked just not how you think. you could check someone once and get away with it. subsequent hits after the whistle would result in roughing or unsportsmanlike. the issue with the goalies is that you skated into them and knocked them over, you never actually checked them. I agree that needs tweaking.

Thanks for all your replies, really appreciated.
However I must say that it seems that this if far from exactly what we wanted.

So we now have the ability to play online co-op! That's great.
But we can not play offline co-op on the same GM. Useless.

Also reading now about no custom sliders for it.

Sorry to say it, but I might not even touch GM Connected then.

I am ok with no custom sliders. Everything that points to my buddies and I playing coop in a Franchise is something we've always wanted. Pretty excited about this option.

However, we do like to have a Franchise Day once in a while where we get away from the wives and crush beers like prohibition starts the next day and play a bunch of games. Too bad you can't make a backup copy of your existing GM, play offline together, then upload the new results. I can see why it isn't in there, maybe next year, but a good step in the right direction.

As far as the 82 games are concerned. As long as the GM (creator of the league) doesn't have to be present to play every game, I think my 5 man team can nickle and dime the season. A 2 v cpu one day, 5 vs cpu the next. However, that will only be possible if the creator doesn't have to be present. Anyone know about that?

I might've been harsh when I said I won't be touching the mode, sure we'll start an online GM with the mates... but really. Let's say you and the boys meet up on saturday for a boys night to play your continue your offline season from last time you met. You've now reached match number 14.... however in your online GM your already ready for play-off, that offline sessions is gonna feel a bit boring.

And I can't really see how it wouldn't be possible to do. If you start a GM Connected, you're making the rules. So why not have a "Allow multiple user on one console" tickbox when the GM sets up the franchise?

And no custom sliders... perhaps we could live with that. But if the sliders presets are anything like they've been for online the last years, I don't think we're gonna waste time on it.

Now that I can dig!

I'm encouraged by what's shown with this new mode, but let's see the things the way they should be seen with each new mode EA implement.

EASHL : Not that bad until someone figure out how to do the 99 attributres glitch and that was patched almost 2 years after the fact, with still a way to counter the patching. No need to talk about the glitching, the bugs and all the depressive things from the mode.

EAUHL : What a nice idea, until we found out that you can't have a league we're you play with your friends. What's the fun of playing a team build with cards if you have to go online and play stranger.

BAP : This was nice addition, but getting stock on a 3rd line for 50 games or even be put on the bench because you lost a game as a goalie and the coach is not please was a killer. With the years, to me the mode went down a bit. The improvements beeing tossed to the side by poor AI Teammates and bad lineup change logic.

So, if you take these 3 additions EA made over the years, you have to wonder what will kill GM Connected for year 1. I don't know yet, but it's not to rub it at EA, but no way I'm going to be sold this mode will be problem free. I hope it is, but I don't believe it will.

I would just hope EA stop only trying to find new ways to attract new customers and settle on modes they have, made it great (not perfect) for playing in the long haul, and after that, focus on getting new stuff in.

I know, it won't happen. Next year, we'll get another new mode, maybe Be a Ref, or Goal Judge Connected. *I'm kidding* :-)

Post whistle is actually going to be a little different this year because of the new presentation. The way they were planning on doing it was really smart, but I don't know whether it turned out or not.

I would assume if you set your league to "Hardcore" game style, then the post whistle rules would be pretty strict by default.

Okay, so just so I understand... In any of the 5 ways to play, can you play a co-op online season/franchise (2 human players on one team vs. 29 CPU teams) with any created players?

In 2K10 we were able to create ourselves, put ourselves on the Hawks, play co-op online through multiple seasons (including same-screen co-op when we'd meet up a few times a year, then keep it going online when it separate cities). I think I'm getting some mixed information and/or misunderstanding it re: NHL 13's various online modes and "5 ways to play" -- can we do this with NHL 13?

# 60 Qb @ 07/30/12 07:18 PM
Waz, as I understand it, yes to online co-op vs the CPU and no to created players.
