2K Sports Invites Fans to “Uncover The Cover” of NBA® 2K13

Facebook application to reveal clues about cover for
next installment of top-selling and top-rated basketball simulation*

New York, NY – June 20, 2012 – 2K Sports today announced the launch of the “Uncover The Cover” Facebook application, which will engage the 2K Sports online community and reveal some big clues about the cover of NBA 2K13, the next installment of the top-rated NBA video game simulation franchise twelve years running.

The Facebook application will start with the clues concealed behind puzzle pieces. In order for pieces to be removed and the clues to the cover revealed, fans are encouraged to tweet about NBA 2K13 using the hashtag #UncoverNBA2K. The more tweets that are made containing the hashtag, the more pieces of the puzzle will be removed.

Fans can check the NBA 2K13 Facebook page to see the current state of the image and the effects their tweets are having in real-time. Once the cover is unveiled, fans will be able to download the final poster art file as wallpaper.

The Facebook application represents a significant departure from the traditional 2K Sports cover reveal, and will leverage the company’s sizable social media following. For the first time in the company’s history, fans will play a decisive role in announcing the cover.

Fans can begin tweeting #UncoverNBA2K today and view the app’s progress in real-time on http://2kgam.es/UncoverNBA2K.

D-Rose didn't really deserve to be on the cover or Griffin it's just their popularity. Rose has best selling jersey and Griffin is on KIA commercials. KD deserved a cover by himself for leading the Thunder in to the Finals. Anyway I still believe Carmelo Anthony is the better than KD. As Stephen A. Smith said Durant takes breaks and just shows up in the 4th quarter. Anthony has to have a good game from the 1st quarter to the 4th. KD is a better midrange and 3pt shooter. Anthony is better defensively and in the post area. Melo's midrange game is just as good as KDs if not better. They are both excel in the clutch. Knicks have STAT, TYSON, MELO and Thunder have KD, RUSS, IBAKA.

If the cover athlete didn't affect sales why would they change the athlete every year and pay someone for it? It's a marketing tactic, it is important, whether it effects you or not.

It's slightly backwards here though, more people are going to buy a LeBron cover because he's a star and people recognize him, case in point, I watched my neighbors kids who were 7 and 8 in 2005 and they didn't buy 2k5 because Ben Wallace was on the cover, they bought Live 05 because Melo was on the cover. Why? Because when you're 8 and you go into a video game store, you're more likely to pick up the game with the recognizable superstar on the cover.

Also, some people will actually buy TWO copies just to get a specific cover to keep in the shrink wrap as part of a sports/video game memorabilia collection.

ppl listen call it what you want but noone has hated on a athelete like they do lebron it would be a bad move period. jordan killed cavs but on the court. lebron hate is off court decisions. dont you ppl remember burning jerseys

I agree that the image looks like Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose and Kevin Durant (as well as something to do with Brooklyn), but it's only one of them.

You're right. No one has received death threats for breaking a record, had hateful books written about him, and essentially been called a liar and a cheat like Lebron has endured. No one has hated on an athlete like they do Lebron.

Wow I thought they would release the actual cover just another stunt to try to get fans interested/hyping the game. I gotta ask you tho will it be a FIFA type cover with 3 guys on cover or 3 separate covers like 2K12 Magic Bird Jordan? KD BG32 D-Rose?

I agree with the Durant, Griffin and Rose parts. Then I started looking at the part in the background that looks like the Brooklyn Bridge and realized Jordan was born in Brooklyn so I'm going with some kind of mix of those four

I mean, can you blame a company for having early promo for their product?

This is nothing new.

I agree that it will be like last year's Jordan, Magic, and Bird separate covers, only it'll have 4 consisting of Durant, Rose, and Griffin - with MJ being a limited edition cover this go 'round.
