There's an option to play against CPU... but I hope the whole DD mode (which I think would be much more fun online) won't get ruined by having to play those who would do anything just to win.

I wasn't get bothered much by online lags and such, but I really didn't care for spending time playing against those who play it like a video game, and not what the Show does better... which is to play baseball games.

But we cannot judge how things play out in online gameplay this year, so we have to see. Maybe most kinks have gotten ironed out.

Thank you...see that was easy enough.

And I'm sure there's a lot more than just you and I who would've liked the option to play this mode against our friends...ie: be able to challenge them specifically and not *hope* that we get matched up with them at random.

I can understand there would be those who would use this option to cheat, but I really hate that all games (not just The Show) take away the ability to play against our friends because a few others would use it to gain rankings. Root out the cheats and ban them and let the rest of us play the game as intended.

sounds great ... but when will we be able to directly link our boxscores to a blog here or elsewhere ... it would be great to set something up where I was asked if I wanted the box score posted directly to OS and or blogger.com ... click yes and its posted. also, because of a damaged left hand, i stick to just hitting most of the time ... be nice if I could play online where I didnt have to pitch or field ...

You ARE playing the game as intended - that statement doesn't make much sense. The developers INTENDED to not allow you to play a mode that is completely ranked and tracked against others by chance - not by choice.

But most of us can weed through that and your rude tone and understand the point. Perhaps focus on your delivery in the future.

Are there any new homerun cameras this year that watch the flight of the ball?...I saw one video where they show the outfielder looking up as the ball goes over the wall, and on the video showing Battistas home run in toronto, it had last years homerun derby angle where it zooms in on the ball then backs off it (awesome angle hope its added into reg games this year)

Talk about not making sense...wth do you mean there? Seriously....

Nothing wrong with my tone or delivery. Just because I don't coddle certain people and constantly blow sunshine up their butts doesn't make me rude, only a realist.

You said you wanted to play the game "as intended".
Well the way you have to play it IS how it was intended to be played.

What you want , and needed to type it that way, was you want to play the game "how you want"... And not how it was intended to be played.

True, I guess I need to spell things out clearly and not assume that everyone can comprehend as well as others.

And to clarify then. My point was to allow us to play DD games against our friends and the handful (or two) of people that use it to cheat....weed them out. I really hate that options like this aren't allowed because some people will use it to cheat and ruin it for those of us that "play the game as intended".

Words have meanings. "Play as intended..." does not mean "Play like I want..." "Play against people in my friend's list..." does not mean "Play against only people in my friend's list..." "Realist" does not mean "Polite, thoughtful member of discourse" and finally "Comprehend" does not mean "Read your mind".

If you write one thing, but mean another, confusion will inevitably occur. Polite, intelligent people do not normally respond to that confusion with belligerence.

Again - you can continue to choose to conduct yourself this way on the forums. Your actions dictate everything.

Ignoring the rest of the stuff (as it's none of my business), I don't think Bahnzo meant "as intended" to imply that the game is intended to be played against friends as opposed to randoms.

I think when Bahnzo says "play as intended" he's talking about cheaters vs non-cheaters. In other words, he's saying if you better weed out the cheaters, it doesn't have to impact the rest of us who play legitimately (i.e. "as intended"). That's what I took from it, anyway.

Again, I'm not debating tone, etc or even whether or not there is a realistically feasible way to achieve that from a development standpoint, as I have no idea. I just think the "as intended" comment seems to have sidetracked the point...which seems to be that he (and presumably others) would like a more streamlined way to play against friends while maintaining the intended ( ) integrity of the mode.

That's a good point. But, if weeding out cheaters was a simple, non-resource draining task, I'm sure every game producer/publisher would have done it. Every game has a different set of rules that can be exploited in different ways though, and staffing and maintaining a "police force" is just not a viable (or desirable) option. So, unfortunately it is necessary to procedurally make cheating difficult. I think you'll find this approach in almost every aspect of our lives.

Don't get me wrong. I would love to live the ideal, but then a friend's list wouldn't really be that necessary. :-)

Yes, there is new cameras for home runs in different parks that is all a part of the new broadcast package!

I'm gonna answer this, as much as I intend to remove myself from further discussions.

From what I've read, and I mean only what I've read...maybe it's untrue...there's to be policing on people selling DD cards for too much money...and from creating DD logo's that are obscene (based on who's criteria?). So it's possible to police things like this, but not cheating in online games modes? C'mon..?!

I could write a script that flags potential cheaters easily. Based on what I've heard that online games will be played thru a central server. Then if you are saving game stats, it should be easy to write a script, run it once a week, and report the results to someone to verify and make a decision on people abusing the mode.

But then again, I suppose that is it easier to employ someone to look for a team logo that resembles a penis.

What about making the games against people on one´s friendlist unranked in the future then? People could compare their teams against the teams of their friends without cheating their way up the ranks that way!
