Do Anderson Silva's eyes creep anyone else out?

After reading some of the comments earlier today I was worried about the demo. However, after finally getting my hands on it, I am really impressed. It's a huge upgrade from 2010, in my opinion. The presentation and new camera angles are really nice. And overall the game does feel a lot different than the last iteration.

My first few matches I fought on experienced/default/sim and the game play was similar to 2010 although, still better. After that I switched the settings to advanced/competition/sim and that's the sweet spot for me. I fought 6 UFC fights (4 as Jones and 2 as Anderson) and split with the CPU. None of the fights ended in a finish (even though in some of the fights I was throwing nothing but hay-makers), but we rocked one another a few times. Then I played 3 Pride fights (all as Wandy). We split TKO's in the first two fights, then the third ended in a decision. The great thing is that I wasn't even trying for a decision, it just happened.

My cons are that even on cometitve/sim the "rule of three" still seems to be there and as others have said the CPU seems a little to aggressive. I'd like to see them mix it up a little more. Other than that, I love it. Going to pre-order this weekend.

Also, does anyone know what "Highlight Reel Auto Rec" means in the option menu?

Got in a couple fights with Anderson Silva and Jon Jones.

Both fighters were pushing forward and being real aggressive initially but calmed down a bit after I landed a few shots on them.

I'm indifferent to the new submission system but I can see how others can find it a bit distracting. I was able to submit Anderson Silva with a RNC, first time I was able to pull one off in a UFC game since UFC 2009.

I have a few questions though. How do you sway? I can't remember how to do that for the life of me. Also is there a way to select the fighter's alternate attire without doing mirror matches?

Overall I'm enjoying my experience with the demo. I haven't even touched Pride Mode yet.

After I get some fights in that mode I'll test my skills and up the difficulty to Advanced.

Had a war against Page, before he caught me with a hook and rocked me onto all 4's, then connected with a soccer kick to the face. Knocked me out cold

Can someone tell me what changing the rules to "competition" does?

4 Fights, 2 with me as Wandy, and two with me as Rampage. All on Advanced difficulty and Sim stamina.

**Processing should be done in next 15min**

"Competition removes flash KO's, doctor stoppages, and adverse effects from cuts. Equalized states removes all of the above and raises all stats to 90."

Basically, leave it at default.

I don't have my game on right now, but when you are setting up the rules, when you get to that part where you pick default, competition or equivalent, the scroll bar at the bottom will tell you how each option changes the game. Off the top of my head, I think it mainly gets rid of flask KO's and doctor stoppages.

Same as anything else, start your strike then press right bumper to cancel it. Am I missing something?

great video! It shows how cool the game can be, but also the common bad themes. I can tell who you are because you're always being cut off and backed up like the oppenent is the terminator. Most of my fights have been Wandy vs Rampage me as Wandy - this is because it's a twice as long and easy to keep hitting rematch. Although i have played as Anderson vs Jones about 6 times as well.

*Tiny bit of advice with the thai plum knee's, I have a few ko's using them, but don't pin the guy on the ropes. I press towards for a half second to push them back a tiny bit and then press away from them giving space and getting in a head knee or two. Their head seems to be lower in that position than against the ropes even though your guy looks like he's loading up more on them.

I want to mention another bad thing is those bloody lunging hooks and uppercuts from rampage. They are slower than 2010, but still overpowered imo - you can throw too many of them on sim, they are slightly too fast, the accuracy is too high which leads into the final problem with them that it's too hard to interrupt them or throw them off course. If you begin a right hook to the body for example and right after you input the controls cpu rampage throws a technique uppercut or hook, your punch won't do anything and you'll get clobbered with his punch no matter what arm you're using.

it's not a deal breaker, but it leads to much more head kicking since, the best thing to do is dash back and immediately throw a head kick since doing anything in the pocket vs those punches is useless.
People using rampage or fighters like him will likely have the technique button hammered down the whole fight like 2010. Techniques should add some variety to the attack, not be used 100% of the time - but strictly to win, that actually would be the best strategy since the penalty is small, the punches are overpowered over accurate and too fast imo. His technique hooks will beat Wandy to the punch using wandy's regular power hook all the time. I think they should also jack up leg kick power a little bit, right now it's still not a viable strategy in the demo esp against rampage.

The terminator thing doesn't help either, it seems a bit tough to circle out of the way etc. even in the 2009 demo you could get the opponent to fight much more passively. I'm really worried about this for the retail game - if every opponent fights that way it will suck.

That also links into my final problem which is to beat the cpu, the best strategy is not to mix it up, stay rangey, use all of your arsenal and leg kick. The fights were I mixed it up the most, and specifically used the most leg kicks were more often than not the ones where i'm in the most danger of losing and often got ko'd by a rampage hook since he can throw thousands of them. The string I went on the most wins in a row was learning 'the game' and going balls out trying to KO and finish as quickly as possible. Still mixing it up a bit, throwing a few jabs helps, but it's still all about knocking the other guy out as fast as possible is the best strategy which is disappointing. I can't see many pride fights making it out of the first round. CPU aggression forces me to be way more aggressive than I'd like

There are a lot of positives though, like look at that video how the fights used all aspects of MMA and were all over the place with tides turning and all that. All the new positions, finish the fight is awesome, I love that it's harder to actually get a finish with more recoveries.

While we're on horrific travesties has the judging improved?
They changed the Thai Clinch in the sense that it is easier to get out of but I think they have added some moves to the clinch. As far as judging goes, all the fights I've had that have gone to the judges have been scored correctly, I thought.

Liver kicks and liver punches are awesome ! Just destroyed Rampage. While he was throwing haymakers, I was tagging that body, he got slower and slower, hands started to drop and with that, faked to the body and went to the dome with a left hook, he was KO'ed.

Face stomps in UFC 3 is even better then it was in EA MMA. You can face stomp somebody over 5 times and they still might not stop the fights, depends on the stamina level of the fighter when he was on the ground.

Back clinch and pressing people up against the ropes or cage and kneeing them from behind into the side of their face is awesome.

I did notice they DO have slams out of the triangle choke in the game. Rampage and Jones did it to me. Love the corner man talking throughout the fight. He actually does tell you valuable stuff that you are doing wrong during the fight.

I'm starting to think the scorecard is glitched. I know I'm beating jones but they always see the fight as 9-10 in his favor. Even in the cutscene jones is walking to his corner shaking his head disappointed but he manages to get the judges points. I've lost count how many times I've rematched but I'm like 1-something, haven't touched the rampage fight yet

1 round fights for the demo? Really? Kinda hard to gauge the game when we can't even fight a full 3 round fight at the least.

Anyways, it does feel better than 2010. That said, the CPU still seems to always be pushing forward and I'm not sure slower paced fights are possible. I guess I'm just going to have to see impressions when the full game comes out.

Also, have we even heard anything about career mode aside from that one trailer with Rampage? The game is a few weeks from release and I haven't seen any articles on it or anything. I'm worried about that.

Anybody see Jon Jones' reverse donkey kick from the ground yet?.... CRAZY.

I'm furious about the music. They wont let us edit the entrance music but they have people like Jon Jones walking in to slow rock music when Jones walks in to 50 Cent in real life.

The judging seems fine. I haven't had one decision go to the wrong fighter yet.
