Jon Robinson, over at ESPN The Gamer, has just posted the first NCAA Football 12 screenshot, along with some additional information on what's to come tomorrow.
Besides the obvious dreads, what else can you spot?
they got the eli manning helmet, shoe laces are now 3-dimensional, dirt looks more real, looks like the ankle braces stay the proper color on grass fields, DREADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, pro combat uniforms, new texture on the jerseys, upgraded lighting system, improved grass texture...that is all I see so far. BUT DAMN, that **** looks awesome. The motion of #6 going to the ground, his dreads twisted and flowing properly in regards to his body, grass stains, and his feet placement are just beautiful.
I hope with the dreads they have options of short, medium, and long dreads, and I hope they have like the flowing dreads, and then option for the dreads to be tied off in a pony tail. And I hope they have long hair for the WHITE GUYS!!!!!!!!!
Jusstt so you guys know, I can't answer any questions JUST yet about the picture.. A full blog will be up tomorrow explaining everything.. BUT UNTIL THEN LET THE GUESSING GAMES BEGIN!!!!
How can dreadlocks mean that much to anyone? I mean, really.
It boggles the mind.
Sure, it's a minor "oh hey, isn't that neat" concept. But truly, it doesn't change the game in any way shape or form. I just don't understand how people get that worked up over it.
It's like "woohoo, blue eyes were added into the game!!!!! ROXXORS!"... I mean, do those blue eyes somehow change the game?
It is not a major complaint, but it adds alot of authenticity to the game.
There are a ton of athletes with dreads.
Screenshot looks really good. The game looked really good last year as well. Can't wait to see more. I hope the animations finally catch up with the graphics. I also hope the presentation shows off the graphics more than it has as well, but I doubt it.
^^^ it means that EA has listened to the community, and you are damn blind if you have played any of these games for long, extended periods of time, and never thought to yourself "hmmm all these players on the field look the same except for skin tone." Hair and dreads make a player unique, and establishes an identity to the players on the field. I think this will allow us to make everyone look so much more realistic, and make it look more like college football. This absolutely adds to the realism of the game, which is what we are after.

can you answer this question then?
Can I take you to dinner?
Thanks for getting us dreads and new blog tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping that Miami#55 is blocking Florida#52 to the ground and from the ground Florida #52 reaches for Miami#6. Please please don't let it be the can animation from the juke move.

Really who cares if they wear the proper uniforms or wear face mask. Who cares if every player is the same shade or the same jersey number? As long as game play is great right?
not gonna front if the hair is free flowin i'm gonna have some hairy teams. not just dreads, but white guys and guys from the pacific islands too. add some depth and realism to teams. Its just going to make the roster naming process longer though.

Graphics and Visuals are important, but the fact that people put accessories like dreadlocks over gameplay, in terms of importance, does boggle the mind. Who cares how good a game looks if it plays terrible?
Anyway, I'm digging the new lighting, looks more realistic for sure, the grass is a nice touch and I love that they've gotten around to getting new helmets and facemasks in. Hopefully they've added more than just one helmet this year, like how they only added the Revo speed last year, and immediately showed it off in the first photo.
One thing that bugs me is how the untucked sleeves still look really weird.
edit* Actually just noticed that there are two new helmets this time, the schut Ion and the air.
