I never got why people complained about the hand not grabbing the rim. I mean, you cannot even see this type of stuff while playing at the normal camera view.
I do agree it should be fixed. However, it's not even visable during gameplay unless it's replays (which I always turn off anyways).
Yea and I also agree that people need to cut out the pointless threats that they will buy Live. Yea you might buy Live (and return it) but you will also buy 2K (and keep it).
So you understand...
Comments like that can easily be construed in a completely unique way.

I'm not as hot as the post makes it seem like. It's just that half of the looooong arguments around here start because 1 guy talks **** and people feel the need to ignore all of the sensible posts and address the ****head.
Re: the hand grabbing the rim
It's nothing. It does take me out of the game a little bit when I see it on a replay, but it's an acceptable flaw in videogaming. It is puzzling that they'd have it in the trailer. Sometimes the hands on the rim look good, but this was one of the bad examples. Again, all due respect to Mo, because I love your work.
Some of you guys are really negative and "unimpressed". If that's the case, and you don't like the game you think 2K is going to put out then don't give them your $60. Or you could buy Live and enjoy terrible gameplay. Simple as that.
Case in point. There are like, two valid discussions about gameplay and a Sim lobby going on, and this dude is skipping all of that to call out the **** talkers. Great.
It's a trailer. Ok for what it was. Not changing my opnion at all.
These kind of dunks have been in 2K since I can remember and all of a sudden it's a problem and this game is not sim. I have to question if people who post here really have been playing this game over the years. It seems so many talk about this like it's something new to the series.
2 years ago Live was unplayable while 2k has gotten better each version. So if you want to switch games because Rose’s hands don’t touch the rim or he dunks over Wallace then go ahead. Jump on the bandwagon.
Does a company’s track record mean anything here? 2k deserves more respect. Dissing a game from a trailer, I guess.
Trailer are just that trailers. Gameplay is what matters most and 2k has been the better game the past few years. This year it looks like it will be a good battle between 2k and Live. Let the gameplay speak not a trailer.
just because a problem has existed before, that means we should accept the problem forever?
that's a dumb way of thinking. if a problem has existed for a long time, we should expect it to be fixed even more for the sake of improvement.

That's what I'm saying man...that's why I said people sound like spoiled brats. Gimme a break! People are funny as hell...

It's true that these problems have existed and aren't really surprises by now, but I think most of us were hoping that by now they would be fixed. This won't stop someone from buying the game that wasn't going to anyways but it is annoying.
One of the big things people have been talking about this year was collision detection etc especially in the air, and this trailer doesn't show that to be any better than it's been in the past.
Compared to everything that's out there, if 2k9 is still the better game would you seriously jump ship if the things you're expecting to be fixed aren't? Even if it is the better game overall?
I just want to have a great overall experience when playing any of these sports games. Now for me just because something is better does not mean you can not grow old of it or get tired of some of the same things. There are other games to play and new releases coming out. So for me im not locked in to buying a NBA game this year. I could rent both live 09 and 2k9 and then purchase other games. I will find out once we get a chance to try out the demo.
lol...I love this site. All of the unrealistic dunking and collision detection aside...It's gonna be a mix of sim and a little arcade for the ooh-ahh factor. I can live with that...I guess. Is there anything that can be done about the hand to rim interaction/physics to at least make the core basketball moves look as real as possible?

There are so many dunks in 2K8 where their hands touch/grab the rim realistically and there are some that don't. I guess it's something they haven't perfected but I don't think it's really that big a deal.....
terrible video imo. How the heck would rose dunk on Wallace and knock him over. Not very realistic.
Don't complain about the vid if you don't know how to analyze it properly. Wallace tried to take the charge, any player trying to take a charge will fall down. Why do you think the ref whistled for a foul?
