After this game drops I bet you EA changes their tune on making the game more realistic. I bet they try to make their mma and boxing game more realistic. If Brian Hayes still has something to do with these games they could still have some bad gimmicky parts to them. Competition will make these games better so I am thankful for that .

They won’t. They will continue to make the game that they think will generate the most revenue and sells the most games. If ESBC becomes a huge financial success, maybe that will motivate EA to change their approach but I doubt that ESBC will be that big of a financial juggernaut.
Don’t get me wrong. I think ESBC will be a financial success but not so big that it will change their approach.

It could potentially change how they approach the next Fight Night game, but I don't see why it would impact UFC in the slightest. Even if ESBC is a huge success, that doesn't mean that it has anything to do with the approach that the devs have taken in order to try and make it realistic. People have been begging for a new boxing game for a long long long time now, and ESBC is the first notable attempt at making one since the last Fight Night game. I think it's likely that ESBC would sell well, regardless of how devs approached gameplay. They could make the UFC 4 equivalent of a boxing game and it would probably sell just the same amount of copies, simply because people are so desperate for a new boxing game.
Going with that last thought, ESBC will never really be a replacement for MMA games in the eyes of most gamers. It doesn't matter how good ESBC is - fans of MMA games will likely buy UFC 5 regardless of how the game turns out. I'm excited for ESBC, but I do not enjoy boxing in the same way as I enjoy MMA, and honestly, I think I'm way more likely to be entertained by an adequate MMA game than by an amazing boxing game, simply because I enjoy MMA so much more. I think a lot of people feel the same way.
The games are loosely related in terms of genre and style, but as you've rightfully said, I don't think they're really competitors. The real question is whether or not ESBC will have any impact on the next EA boxing game.Comment

Honestly, I'm good with them, just taking some time off. I'm in need of a boxing game, and I mean now... It's unbelievable.Gaming ain't easy, but someone gotta do it.

Re: After esportsboxingclub drops!
UFC 4 had better success than UFC 3 even though it is worse than UFC 3. Striking is downgraded, stamina and gameplay is arcadey , clinch tries to improve but ends up having no mechanics at all , which results in a really shallow experience. UFC 4 could be more simulation if they wanted but I am pretty sure they wanted to appeal casual fans who don't know much about the sport.Comment

Re: After esportsboxingclub drops!
EA Sports, across many of their sports titles, doesn't look for actual realism. They look for pseudo-realism. They want the game to feel real enough to casual players who can feel like they're playing a reasonable facsimile of that sport without needing to be an actual expert in that sport.Comment

Lots of people are actually complaining about the controls in the UFC games being "too complex" and I must confess that after a while of non-activity (as muscle memory fades away) I always wonder myself what to press.Comment

I hope EA saw how successful Elden ring was. Its less forgiving and still rewarding. That sorta feel put into an MMA game is what a lot of people want. Add a casual and hardcore mode like ESBC is doing.Comment

Re: After esportsboxingclub drops!
After ESBC drops nobody needs to play this game for a combat sports fix again. 2 years ago I was hollering to everyone that would listen how the Knee and Elbow spam was ruining the game and yet here we are now with it just as effective as ever. The most completely dumb mechanic and decision in modern games. Especially after they knew it was a bit of an issue in 3 they decide to ignore everyone and make it worse. They should be embarrassed about it to be honest.
ESBC looks like it is built with real physics in mind and looks to promote realistic outcomes and fights. I am so tired of unrealistic game mechanics trumping real life strategies as viable options in my sports games because Devs are so overly worried about capturing the casual player base. Here is to hoping that ESBC finally delivers on a true sim experience. From the Content Creators that were allowed to play it. it sounds like that is where it is heading.Comment

Re: After esportsboxingclub drops!
Just another telling note on how ESBC plays. 2 of the people that have played the game early and commented on it have real life boxing experience, one being Shawn Porter. Shawn by most accounts is a very casual video game player and Studdy who is a gaming content creator is not a harcore online player. Both of them even though probably being the worst in a competitive gaming sense at the content creator workshop enjoyed the most early success because they used their real world experience to help dictate their strategy in the game where as the other players were trying to play it like a game aka fight night/ufc instead of playing it like the sport. To me that is so refreshing to here. If ESBC can somehow capture a lot of attention and be successful it may just push other sports franchises to create actual sim experiences.Comment
