CPU only shoots close to goal

Hey, I suspect this isn't so much of a slider question as it is bad AI programming, but as the title suggest: when I play the CPU they only take shots from deep in the slot, close to the crease - and it's kills all immersion of a hockey game.

Do you guys recognice this, and has anyone found a solution to make the AI more dynamic with taking shots from the whole zone, including the blue line?

I know the AI is very boring to play against, but this single issue really kills the whole game for me.

AI is programmed to shoot from the slot. If it can't pass to it or can't steal it with its superglue sticks, they will try to barge thru your player to it.Some sliders like Al Tito's do get AI sometimes shoot from the point , but even that is rarely. In general there is no cycling or anything , just Crush the Net and chase human player when he has the puck.

Whoever made AI shouldn't be allowed to even fill in Excel sheets.....

This is actually my biggest issue with the ai. The game has potential, but is so ridiculous seeing the ai basically not using its defenceman at all when attacking.

I remember that in NHL 14 the ai defenceman were actually shooting too often, but it could be contained a bit using custom ai. However, I have not found such a feature in 22.

Yeah, every CPU-attack plays out exactly the same. Either they try to skate through my defenders to take a shot deep in the slot or they try to force a cross crease pass. Even on superstar. It’s so unrealistic and boring.

Re: CPU only shoots close to goal

100% agree with all
Of this.

Whilst I love many aspects of this years game, the main problem as you rightly said is it’s dull

I’ve tried sliders, I’ve tried changing difficulty and even on superstar and cranked all the way up with the difficulty slider it’s still complete dullsville

You can literally play as Arizona and not notice it’s any harder than playing with Tampa

It’s a shame because I’ve never played a NHL game as little as this years

But then you go online and it’s just HUT lovers saying how great it is

🤷🏼*♂️🤷🏼*♂️🤷🏼*♂️
