NBA 2K22 "The Eccentric Edition" - Realistic NG Slider Set

After suffering through a year of what might possibly be the worst game in NBA history, 2K21, THANKFULLY 2K came out with a chip on their shoulder and improved the offline gameplay by leaps and bounds. It really can't be over-stated, 2K22 is easily the best year-over-year improvement we have ever seen. Help defense is BY FAR the best and most realistic it has ever been. PnR defense functions realistically and with variety so that you don't always get the same reaction from the CPU, and (unlike 2K21) the hedge defender has a functioning brain this year

But with all that being said, there is always room for improvement. Tests to be run. Tweaks to be made. And this year, I'm getting to work early. I'll be starting off with a few simple tweaks that will give us a great base to work off of. We only need to change a few values here and there to see some drastic improvements to the look and feel of the game.

If you're reading this, then surprise, surprise, it seems 2K have once again broken the AI defending with a patch/tuner. These are being posted separate from the regular slider set because 2K will typically fix the issue in due time and I don't want to drastically alter my base sliders in response.

If 2K has NOT broken the defense but you still want a bit more of a challenge, feel free to use these tweaks to make the AI that little bit more punishing.

Yea, it shouldn't make too much difference. The AI just won't have the shooting boosts and semi-cheating defense boosts that you'll see at SS/HOF.

You’re not using default all-star this year? Superstar & HOF feel OP this year.

I need that extra challenge from the CPU, or else I kind of lose focus/interest and start to play like crap.

Let me know how you like them! Most of the changes are to movement, animations, and fouls. Still need to tweak defense and offensive tendencies but that will take some time. The game plays pretty good at default, thankfully, so fixing the movement was my first concern.

Hey thanks for this. I’m finding really low fg% with this set for the user. Very rarely hit any jump shots/3pt shots with yellow coverage even with good off dribble shooter. Wide open I hit good %. I’ll test more though.

I really got messy with the movement sliders and found that maxing out the speed with ball settings and capping the speed without the ball pretty low (maybe 50s? irrc) actually helped get some fast breaks going. Probably not as smooth in the sliding and animations though that you always are able to achieve with yours.

All the shot success sliders are at default as I haven’t gotten around to tweaking them yet. As always, those sliders are 100% user preference and should be tweaked as needed on an individual basis.

If you’re happy with the FG% on wide open shots, I would recommend decreasing the new Shot Coverage Impact slider instead of boosting the shot success sliders.

The issue comes down to the speed with ball (max) sliders just don’t help because speed with ball is capped at the moment. Setting it to 100 won’t make players like Fox or Westbrook move any faster. So you need to either decrease the speed of players without the ball, or find another way to increase ball handler speed. That’s why I went with increasing Game Speed (makes everyone move and animate faster) while decreasing a number of other sliders to compensate.

I'm so excited to plug these in my Grizzlies MyNBA and give them some run but wanted to ask something first as I didnt see it explained in the OP (Although theres a good chance I'm blind and looked right over it.) Everything is Default Superstar besides the values you listed, correct?

Honestly, had to just reply to say

1.) this is my favorite 2k in years, the leap from 21 is huge and feels like real basketball
2.) there was small things that seemed off & figured sliders would fix
3.) I love that you didn’t overahaul the whole game cuz out the box it was pretty solid
4.) the small changes you made were money! I’ve been having so much fun, in 21 I would play the computer and 99 percent of the time win, this year I’m battling for wins again and it feels real
