Virtual Reality and Golf
With PlayStation VR 2 coming next year and already multiple systems out for pc, it amazes me that EA or 2k have not tapped into this. I would buy a VR rig day one for a true sim VR experience. I know the golf club tried this at one point and never built on it again. So what’s everyone’s thoughts on this, a gimmick? Or missed opportunity?Tags: None -
Re: Virtual Reality and Golf
Such a great point. Been thinking this since playing Real World Golf w/ GameTrak on the original Xbox. (Look it up if new to ya': a GREAT concept...so-so execution.)
Related, been married to every VR system for this exact reason (eg proper sports simulators). Oculus Quest has a couple strong mini golf ones, but no one seems able to crack the nut on a proper swing.
Quest 2 may be your best for a golf sim as no wires...but EA/2K won't invest as not big enough an audience.Quest 2 also has a nice (graphically limited0 QB sim.

Re: Virtual Reality and Golf
This VR game is called Pro Putt by Topgolf, which is your first clue that it isn't quite aiming to re-create the Topgolf experience in full. This game is all about putting, not driving; developers Golf Scope had been working on it for some time before adding the Topgolf license.Comment

Re: Virtual Reality and Golf
Great thread
I really wish we could get someone to do a VR golf game again.
The thought of being "out there" on the course at the proper scale is just so tempting.
That said - I don't expect it anytime soon (if ever)
It's sort of a niche within a niche (golf + VR)
Related a little is my decision on which next-gen console to get.
I was leaning towards XB for MS Flight Sim -- but they are, very bizarrely, totally "out" on VR for this current run of hardware.
Given the great reviews of PSVR1 - I think I'm leaning towards a PS5 so I can jump into their next VR offering in late 2022.Comment
