Great write up. Of course, I am disappointed to hear no franchise improvements. To see what NBA was able to do with MyNBA in its first game on next gen, it's just inexcusable for this company to leave this untouched. Guess I'll wait for Madden 22.

Sadly no. Madden is at least a decade behind the few AAA sports titles we have today. It's a reason it went on sale within weeks of its release, next gen got pushed back and probably why it's a free upgrade. The way NBA 2k21 is looking and expanding as a brand, EA needs to step it up or hang it up seriously. Enough is enough

Yeah... the way this sounds, it comes across as pillow talk, I like that they're finally addressing the sideline, but end of the day it's all about gameplay, gameplay gameplay.

"If there’s one area where Madden clearly won’t match up to its next-gen competition, NBA 2K21, it’s here. I was impressed by the graphical comparisons and what was shown on the gameplay front with how the next-gen movement looks, but modes are still where this won’t feel like a “new” game. While 2K re-imagined MyPlayer and also tried to do something different with its franchise mode, Madden does not have a great selling point here on the new consoles.

For those hoping for something console-specific for the new generation consoles in terms of franchise upgrades, that will not be happening. Seann Graddy spoke specifically about this, and while he did say that two more franchise updates are coming, they will be across all platforms and the focus on the franchise mode will then switch to Madden 22."

This is the exciting period of time (new console launch) where EA removes things or changes things no one asks them to change only to bring them back as "new features" in later versions of the game. Been playing Madden since the very first release of the game and have bought most of them and I can tell you there's no cut-scene promo that they could create that would get me excited about this game. It took 30 years but they finally beat the excitement of "new game launch" out of me. Fully expect the same old bugs to be there and the subsequent flurry of patches to address the wave of complaints over the following months.

yeah they need tweak sim engine on players stats : RB and WR stats are too low.. By the way, i can't start MyNBA until NBA Draft, trade, schedule games are done first

Yo soy jugador de madden desde España, hace unos 2 años que ya no compro ningún Madden, es una pena y una decepción que la Nfl que es la mejor liga del mundo no supervise uno de sus productos más importantes para captar más aficionados sobretodo en Europa y deja a una compañía como EA haciendo un juego tan pésimo y con un modo franquicia k es una vergüenza, no se como no se da cuenta k por ejemplo 2K hace un trabajo increíble con la NBA y para captar aficionados por todo el planeta, espero que se den cuenta algún día

Hopeful for daylight lighting...time of day transition as well as time of year....but its EA...i’ll believe it when i see it

I certainly hope it is.

Here's the thing: to what degree do the next gen stats remove subjectivity in player ratings? Ratings are probably the biggest bugaboo that have negatively impacted Madden for years.

If a next gen stat says "Player X demonstrates a Y acceleration curve", then I'd expect the rating(s) to reflect that acceleration curve. Player movement ratings are what drives the game's overall timing and cadence. By utilizing data to this degree, the overall impact on gameplay is going to look and feel a whole lot different. Assuming "skill ratings" (like JKM or AWR) are still somewhat subjective, just having them in a solid stat-based movement environment is still going to be a potential game-changer.

Honestly don't care how pretty it is. I want fun, deep and immersive modes. I'm happiers playing NCAA 14 still, or even NFL 2K5. They may not look nearly as nice, but I can get lost playing Dynasty or Franchise in those while in Madden over the last decade I just get bored and quickly move on to something else.
