Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball

Realistic basketball is dead with 2K. That is all.

This game used to have a little bit of respect. Visual Concepts and 2K used to have a little bit of respect and integrity. I have zero respect for either anymore. We've been sold out. Every year it's the same bs with this game. It's become predictable. Take our money, then have open ears to the 12 yr olds on Twitter or YouTube crying about shooting, and then give them their pacifier so 2K doesn't get "bad PR".

The shooting hotfix killed this game.

Don't tell me this game is anywhere near realistic when I just literally witnessed about 30 contested/hand in face shots go in Rec. It's a joke at that point. Give someone a money jumpshot, wait a few weeks for their OP badges, and it's over. This is why NBA 2K League is a joke too. Same meta of bs basketball. None of these clowns even ball irl or even know real strategy. They're 2K heads not basketball heads.

When absolute bums can green shots no matter the defense, it's over. This game has had that problem for 4 years. Your community is twitter, period. If you are a sim player who has once ounce of understanding of real basketball, 2K couldn't care less about you. This forum is the last of Sim ball but it's on deaf ears. 2K literally is EA Live when they got cocky. Now I see why Scott O'Gallagher went back. He sees where this is headed. Hopefully the new NBA Live becomes the old 2K.

I can't believe people wager money over this trash.

Why shouldn't I? I expect a realistic environment, not realistic playing humans. 2K controls the environment/physics/how successful actions are rewarded or punished. I expect 2K to not sell their soul to casuals. This game is in desperate need of competition. Hopefully EA gets their head out of their azzes and NBA Live comes back just for that reason, to remind 2K who they were and that they can get knocked off because they knocked off the top dog. If you think 2K gives one ounce of crap about the Sim community you're mistaken. They've gone all in, gone full-arcade. Can't even respect this company anymore.

They made it harder (near impossible) to balance gameplay by themselves with the convoluted mechanics.

now look at what what decides shot success :
        1)shooting ratings
        2)jumpshot signature style green window
        3)cold/hot zones
4)Stick release boost or no meter boost
5)All the shooting badges at 4 different levels and dimer badge
6)Shooting boost from kiosk in Mycareer.

how the hell there can by any balance at all in this mess ?!
Even if Devs genuinely care to make the best balance its simply IMPOSSIBLE to calculate fair chances in all the possible combinations.

I've been playing 2k11 lol, I still love that game. My biggest problem with 2k for the last few years has been the defensive A.I. There is no help defense. To be honest with you, I really liked 2k17, even though I thought it seemed a bit too easy. I go back and forth play 11 and 17.

Really hope things change next gen.

Thread didn't even take 2 weeks. Called it.

No, it wasn't just Twitter and YouTubers.

In fact, some of the bigger YouTubers advocated hard for keeping the system in place.

Fact is, learning curves are seen as a bad thing these days....and thats been shown throughout the community.

                Yup.

Told them to wait till people get badges.

Then you will see how easy it is.

Even worse that you can get hotzones playing on pro nd they carryover to jrc and such lol

Post patch, i just don't enjoy the game. Shooting, movement and other stuff like super speedy recoveries etc. were just better before. I doubt it was bcs of honeymoon period. It was real and it was more fluid.

But this has been the case for some years with nba 2k so i don't feel sorry as much as i did before. The only thing is i feel like i buy the game full price for the sake of playing the very first 7-10 days period of smt beatiful.

This is such a weird sentiment to me. Why would playing against a computer be more realistic?

Re: Twitter and YouTube killed 2K basketball

Even if the mechanics were fixed, the issue isn't the game, it's always the people.

I turned my back on online gaming in this community back in '16 and never looked back. Folk don't wan't to play basketball, they just want to play 'video games' - winning by any means possible to stroke their ego's and keep their names atop of virtual boards, with no regard for sim basketball whatsoever. Even the sim leagues I used to be in were full of chancers and minor exploiters.

Na...glad I don't play online anymore. Get a much more realistic game against the CPU with a edited roster than I did against most real folk online, in my experience.

You’re playing against A.I. that’s programmed to react in specific ways. It’s even easier to cheese the computer in 2K than it is humans. No amount of sliders can negate it. Even putting the game on HoF typically means the computer just makes a bunch of crappy shots they shouldn’t or recovers on defense faster than they should. You love offline NBA? More power to you. You wanna tell me playing against a literal bot is more “realistic”? Miss me with that.

Is from my experience. A fully edited roster from top to bottom plays better than 95% of the online cheeser heads I've ever encountered. Plays better than some so called 'sim' guys I've seen, too.

For me, 'Sim' ball is only as good as the person you're playing. I can play as close to real life as possible, but if my opponent is running around in circles, doing constant 'and 1' dribbles or pump faking 500 times to get a bite, then the immersion dies immediately.

Being offline, I have more of an element of control of how the game plays. Is it perfect? Hell no, but at least when I edit say, a T-mac, I can get him playing like T-mac as opposed to everyone online thinking they're the Professor mixed with Steph Curry no matter who they're using.

I salute you online guys for dealing with that stuff. I'll never go back to that world again.

Totally agree. While offline isn't perfect you can tailor it to play more realistic. And more importantly, you can effect how real or arcade the experience is.

In 2K for instance, I know I can run past the CPU in transition with John Wall if I take the right angle. I know plays in Madden that for whatever reason the CPU goes brain dead. It be great if that wasnt the case, but it is. I can however not exploit the game to the point the experience is ruined.

Online there is always a meta, it's that way in every single online game. 2K, Madden, COD, you name it and there is a meta. It's the nature of online gaming. It's why I only play sports games online with my brother and a few friends. I saw it mentioned somewhere before but maybe 2K needs lobbies tuned to specific gameplay experiences for online.
