Which year of 2k is best to you and why?

Many ppl said 2k16 based on my memory reading posts here, for myself is 2k19 as I play it the most in recent years...how about you guys?

2k11, 14 and 16 and from out of the box 21 is promising to be added in the list but it’s early to tell that.

easily 2k11. 2k13 Was Good, too. it went downhill with current gen, but I think 2k15 or 2k16 Were okay, too.

Recently installed 2k11. Couldn't believe how good that game is, jumpshot fouls, for example, something people praise in 2k21, were there. Help defense, transition defense, both are better than what we have in newer games. Really a masterpiece. 2k16 is the last one that felt complete, like the core of the game was good, solid, something that games that came after lack. 2K should really pay more attention to the fundamentals. According to the guys here, 2k21 is step in the right direction, so let's hope 2k21 next gen is going to be great.

Can’t really say I have one overall 2K as the best so I guess I have 2 2K’s on that “S” tier and those are 2K11 and 2K16. The gameplay on both were solid and fun, I played a bunch of Association and MyLeague on them and had some of my favorite MyPlayers in these. 2K16 would possibly be higher if it had a better MyCareer story. 2K13 goes in the “A” tier for me, I really loved that game. This game had my 2 favorite MyPlayers and I have actual memories from playing those games. Only reason it isn’t with the other two is for small stuff like menu layout and diversity of the soundtrack (which were both fine for me but could’ve been better on both of those).

2K9/2K10 and 2K14 this gen in hindsight were really fun and 2K20 was also one that I played a lot of but all these were missing things those other 3 had for me. Hopefully I can throw 2K21 next gen into that “S” class.

From a nostalgia, fond memories perspective...NBA 2K11. I played the paint off of that disc.

NBA 2K16 & * LG NBA2K14 I can throw in right now and enjoy a full game.

Choosing one though, 2K16 is my definite favorite. GOAT soundtrack too.

2k11 seems to be the general concensus and I agree.

2k8 and 2k3 also stand out for me.

2k8 is the first 2k with sig animations for everything. Also had great spacing and defensive rotations.

2k3 was the first year of the ESPN branding and the last year of the original sega sports broadcasters, you can't coach that! Presentation was crazy for the time with the half time show and nightly wrap ups in Francis mode. Also the first franchise mode with coaches and full season awards.

2K11 for last gen and now 2K21. It was 2K19 until literally about 30 minutes ago.

NBA 2K14 & 2K19, both on pc. The ultimate base roster on 2K14 is eternal. And NBA 2k19, and that's only because of the retro season mod.

I like 2k11 and 2k16 the best. I thought 2k19 was good and 2k21 is growing on me. But it will be hard to be 11 and 16.

Im new-ish to 2k (started on current gen), but 2k21 has the potential to be the best of current gen. Boy is this a rocky launch though, lol (even beyond the roster / rookie stuff)! Yet despite the glitches (Real Player %, most notably), the core gameplay is easily better than 2k20 IMO, and thats the hardest part for them to get right, so hopefully after a few months of patches and the unveiling of the official 2020-21 roster, this will settle into being a solid game.

While 2k7-14 were good on PS3/360 I do prefer 2k15-17 on PS4/XBone. Mostly, because you didn't have to deal with using points on those dreadful practice drills. That being said, my favorite 2k's are 15-17.

I don't know if I can pick a favorite among those. 2k17 looks better than 15 and 16 imo and plays well enough though I do think it's a bit on the easy side. I think I like the gameplay of 15 and 16 a bit better

last gen : 2K11 > 2K10 > 2K9 > 2K14 PC > 2K13 > 2K12
current gen : 2K16 > 2K15 > 2K20 > 2K19 > 2K17 > 2K18

2k11 pretty easily for me. Adding MJ to the game was a HUGE thing at the time, so was adding the Jordan shoes also. The MJ moments were a ton of fun and extremely realistic, probably one of the features I wish I could replay on a newer gen console. There was just a ton of work put into the game and it showed, I played so many modes on this game and had a blast.
