"Game Mode" changed my entire Show experience (for the uninitiated/unaware)

This is a friendly PSA to anyone who has not tried setting their television set to Game Mode.

    Here is my (brief) story:

    Before

I was behind on everything, and only winning in Diamond Dynasty due to pitching, but I couldn't hit a lick. I couldn't catch up to fastballs unless I pretty much guessed with my eyes closed. I was hitting roughly 1-2 home runs per 10 Ranked Seasons games, and the Player Programs were a challenge.

My (newish) Samsung TV had noticeable framerate drops and lag, and recently online had been unplayable. I'd gone up against Shohei Ohtani with poor framerate and got 2 hits and struck out 17 times.

I felt helpless and frustrated. I tried going into "expert settings" and tinkered with some picture settings, but it only helped marginally.

Then I found a forum where someone explained how to turn on Game Mode, even if it's not an easily accessible option in your picture settings.

    After

It's a whole new ballgame. I'm destroying everything, and often early on fastballs. I've won five straight games, many in which the opponent quit due to a blowout. My home run frequency has jumped from roughly 1-2 every 10 games, to roughly 2-3 every game - and sometimes more.

It's so. much. more. fun. Getting into a hitters count actually gets my heart pumping, because I feel so ready - and capable - of getting a hold of one.

It honestly plays like a completely different game, where my reflexes and skills actually matter.

TL;DR If you are struggling with The Show, or feel like hitting online is nearly impossible, give Game Mode a try. The game doesn't look quite as sparkly, but the difference in gameplay is night and day.

    Funny story...

I played without game mode on from probably 08 until 13. I always felt like I was behind the pitches but essentially got used to it. A friend of mine that also plays came over and he said that my hitting was just, “off.” I researched it some and low and behold, I had never used game mode.

Needless to say I changed it and it was like a completely different game at the plate. I felt pretty dumb, but at least I figured it out.... after six years... haha.

Honestly I don’t notice a difference in game mode on my tv.

Glad it’s helpful for you though.

In addition to Game Mode on your TV, I got a tip from another member. Set your PS4 to 1080p in video output settings. Then play in Faster mode on the show. Better framerate.

Yeah this was me, once I discovered game mode.

I remember having this issue with Final Fantasy X and Game Mode saved it. Great announcement!

I just changed that. It was set to AUTO but changed it to 1080p. How is this supposed to help?

What is play in Faster mode though?

I have the same two questions...

I've been a believer in game mode when I started playing Overwatch (since stopped playing). I'm not good at shooters to begin with but it's definitely noticeable for me.

As for The Show if Game Mode is off the HDR looks terrible and was kind of janky fps wise. With it on I catch my self being amazed at how real it looks and I can really appreciate the graphics changes that have come since my NES gaming days.
