What Team Are You Using In Franchise In The Show 20?

This is one of my favorite threads that usually pops up each year before the release of the new game. Since we are getting close to the release date and no one else has started it yet this year I thought I would get it started. There’s been a few similar threads but they weren’t exactly this so I feel like this one still has a place here too.

So which team will you be using this year and if you have any yet, what are your plans for the team? And if you would like to share more, why did you pick that team?

I will be playing as my Cardinals as they are obviously my favorite team.

I became a Cardinals fan because of my Grandpa. I know I’ve shared before but he played within their organization years ago.

Plus Louisville used to be the home of their Triple A Redbirds. Nothing cooler than seeing guys there and then on tv a year or two later.

Got plenty of autographs from John Tudor, Joe Magrane to Willie McGee and Vince Coleman

Carrying over my current White Sox franchise and then starting a new one with the Pirates but they'll be somewhere other than Pittsburgh, haven't decided where I am putting them yet though. Well I am choosing the Pirates as I want a NL team on the new one, since been using AL teams past couple years. Also wanted to play more games at Wrigley against my favorite team in the Cubs. I will probably be making the pirates even worse than they are to give me a bigger challenge as well.

Cubs always primary ... last few years I’ve played with other teams randomly ... I might do 30 team control this year

I think it’s between White Sox, Braves, Padres, or Twins. I’m leaning toward White Sox, maybe Braves. I don’t know!

gonna round up the usual suspects:

Braves, Orioles, White Sox, Mariners, Rockies.


and lastly, one season in Reverse Franchise, playing as all 162 Houston opponents.

Gonna us my Tigers and keep this rebuild going! They've got some great pitching prospects so I'm excited to see their rotation in a couple years. Also, gotta get Miggy to 500 HRs and 3,000 hits!

I’m a Rockies fan but really thinking of using Texas this year. New stadium and will be different playing with an AL team.

I will be using my hometown Detroit Tigers, and then the Mets since I've always liked them. Maybe the Padres as well.

I've had the show since 08 and had MVP back in the day and Tony Gwynn's Triple Play before that. I always start with the Reds. I didn't get last year's version so I'm excited for the updates in 20. I live in the Detroit area and just started an updated roster Tigers franchise. I'll probably carry that one over as well. It's a 30 team full control franchise where I make realistic deals and signings for each team.
I'll most likely end up starting over around April or May with updated rosters at that time and again after the deadline.
My teams will be:
Reds: favorite team for 35 years and have only seen one title.
Tigers: AL local team and they are abysmal.
Orioles: They need to be rebuilt
KC: Sneaky rebuild team
Miami: Sense a theme?

I love to rebuild teams and put my own stamp on the franchise by making smart deals and drafting my own guys. It's more fun for me that way.

I'm going to be rolling with my Cubs for my primary franchise. Play all 162 with that. But I'm also trying something new this year, going to do a 30 team control and jump around the league so I can play with some different guys and maximize my use of the great work the SOTS guys do.

As always, I will have a Rays save and tbh we are looking a bit all conquering this year. Not normally my preferred way of playing to have a genuinely great team with everything set up for a period of sustained domination, I prefer a bit of a project.

So for the project, I think the Rockies look like a tempting rebuild. They've got a team that desperately looks like it needs resetting and retooling to go again in a couple of years. A ton of bad contracts that come off in a year or two (Murphy, Desmond, Davis, McGee and Shaw for a combined $68m this year!), but then also 3 of their best players look set to leave as free agents in two years as well (Arenado, Story and Gray). Throw in that Charlie Blackmon's contract will start to be heavily underwater in a couple of years and it looks like a team that needs melting down and starting over, with the fun quirk of mile high hitting.
