It's not my most played game of the 2010's, but it is the most memorable one. That one being Mass Effect 2 (2010). I love the Mass Effect universe, the story, and the meaningful choices your character can make. ME 2 also had a much more solid combat system than the original which made playing the game all the more fun.

Favorite game of the decade.
As we close out the 20-teens, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about our favorite games of 2010-2019 (or steal the idea from some FB friends).

The Witcher 3 for me hands down. I am on my fifth play thru and I am still madly in love with this game. I don't see a time I will not be playing the Witcher in some way. Time may increase between playings but I will always want to return to this world. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

For me it would be The Last of Us on the PS3. The story in that game along with the gameplay was simply amazing and engaging. I cannot wait for the sequel to drop next year.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

A lot of great games, but I have to go with The Witcher 3. It set the bar for games.Comment

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
Nintendo nailed it with this one. I've put well over 200 hours into this and still haven't uncovered all that's contained within Hyrule. I have created a new profile just to play through this one again from the beginning.Currently Playing:

Another vote for Witcher 3. Pretty much ruined all other games for me, not just open world RPGs. Took me a couple fits and starts before I committed fully, but am on playthrough three now, have read all the books, and also did a run on Witcher 2.
It's the greatest game of all time for me.

My favorite game - Europa Universalis IV. Endless replay value and through expansions, it has become basically a new game since it debuted. In from the beginning, I have put some money into the game, but have also played it more than any game ever.
Best game - Witcher 3, but MGSV could have been better if the 2nd half of the game was actually finished. The controls and gameplay in MGSV were exceptional.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 12-30-2019, 12:55 PM.Comment

Re: Favorite game of the decade.
I had this whole write-up about ME2 and ME3....and then scrapped it.
Life is Strange.....hands-down one of the most poignant and emotional games I have ever played. I played the game having never seen any of it...and I am thankful for that. This is a game I wish play again for the first time....Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: Favorite game of the decade.
I was just about to say Witcher 3 but Skyrim came out in 2011. That game set new standards in open world games. I spent more than 300 hours playing Skyrim and the DLC and it's the only game where I seriously contemplate a second playthrough from scratch.
The writing, characters, voice acting, setting and the attention to detail were unbelievable in the Witcher 3 but I loved the exploration and battles more in Skyrim. My dragonborn was a silent killer with a bow and arrow and that was just a joy.
Although I don't use many mods myself Skyrim seems to be a modder's fantasy. I see people have created their own quests lines and keep breathing new life into the game.
I need to give a shout out to Assassin's Creed Origins. The scope of that game was amazing and Egypt was breathtakingly beautiful. It was such a step up from the previous Assassin's Creed games.Comment

Re: Favorite game of the decade.
Red Dead Redemption
I absolutely fell in love with this game when it came out and I have no idea how many hundreds of hours I poured into.
For a competitive game it would be Rocket League. It really carved it's own path and has taken hold of that role of being a quick competitive game that blends sports and gaming together. The servers are still mediocre at best, but I've got over 1,000 hours in this game and will continue to play it.
And for my nomination with plenty of recency bias, Escape from Tarkov. It's very refreshing to see devs set out to make a hardcore game and stick to their guns and tell other people to suck it up or play something else when they find some mechanics too difficult. Complete gamechanger for FPS games in my opinion and I cannot wait to see it get fully fleshed out. It's taken aspects of games like DayZ and Swat and combined them to create a game that is extremely popular and more mainstream than those two games could have ever dreamed of.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”
