I cannot get white socks for away team in custom season??? I'm using 75-76 season roster with teams in the all-time team slots. I thought this issue was fixed? When I use the same roster in play now white socks for away team works.

No if you redesign team (court, jerseys). That's do annoying...

I've been using the ankle brace/tape work around in the case of custom court teams. However, that only works for players who either had short socks or mids.
