    Man... how important ARE badges?

So I don't have a TON of time to play... wife with a night job, two kids, my own job... and I don't have much time to grind. But the last few nights I've gone to the Park and gotten absolutely SMASHED... I'm an 89 center with like 6 badges, and I've run into low 90s guys with 20, 25 badges, and I've struggled to do anything against them. It's been just brutal. Not sure if it has just been a few rough nights in a row, or if I'm starting to see the gap of badges, which will only get worse as people get more and I don't.

    Thoughts?

Thought is, between the badge grind and the glitchers, we are dead in the water. Barely have time to play and hate playing cpu in my career. Playing just park tho, I won’t be able to level up fast enough.

Badges have become more important than ratings. I think 2k is trying to shift to a badge based system gradually and end up with the same kind of layout as All-Pro Football.

A lot of the badges and ratings clash already so if they could just clean up the excess everything could be neater.

What point is there of interior defense if post lockdown exists? What point is there of pass accuracy if needle threader exists? etc.

Badges are ridiculous. The worst gimmick this franchise has seen. Skill of a player should be tied into their rating(s), an abundance of ratings that make-up a player.

For instance, distinguishing Steph Curry from Ray Allen. Both are terrific 3-point players, so just give them adequate ratings to match their likeness.

Why need Deadeye when we have a Shot Contest Rating? If your 3PT shot contest rating is a 99, you’re deadeye- plain and simple. Now giving Deadeye to someone who has 63 3PT Shot Contest- isn’t that silly?

We need the ability to turn off badge influences for the offline community.

            This...

I don't mind badges, but it's clearly tipping towards badges being absolutely necessary. Remember when they were introduced for the purpose of separating stars from 'average' players? Now you need them to be playable as many things that were just a part of a players makeup (e.g. jump shot at a respectable release speed) are hidden behind badges (e.g. quick draw).

It's interesting to me that I always feel like the game plays best in the first few days, before anyone gets badges...

Definitely. Dudes were STRUGGLING without handle for days() and quick draw. It was funny while it lasted.

First few days were awesome, was winning and losing and it felt fair both ways.

I like the idea of badges, but I feel like they need some negative badges also, just to bring some balance.

So deadeye shooters should also have a negative badge where they don't have great ballhandling (Klay, JJ Reddick for example)...at least not immediately.
Did this dude just did this?

Hard to get badges when your player is just trash. Or maybe I'm just trash. I mean I play the game the right way but it never pans out.

My big man feels like total trash, but maybe thats because I didn't make him max height, or I am not playing as a guard who can just shoot 60 threes vs the AI. Getting 14 and 10 is like a great game for me.

If you mean against the CPU then turning ace on, playvision to full and see all plays, and coaching to auto gets you enough easy baskets as a center. Playing within an actual offense is what I enjoy about MyCareer the most.

I wish I could nominate this as the post of the year so far.

This whole badge thing has gotten out of hand. Not only do we have 6,000 badges but each badge has 4 separate tiers! ...And one thing I noticed (not sure it was in there last year) but badges do change the overall... for example I was going through and editing all the players using quick edit, specifically to get rid of most of the badges for players that dont deserve them... As I was editing Tobias Harris' badges, his rating dropped 2 points smh

This let's me know that 2K is badge heavy. They should only create badges that a player can not get in the ratings.

cosign on this. The first week and a half were the best - everybody was pretty much at the same level and games were super competitive.

I'm in the same boat as the OP and I sort of just casually play now but I feel like I'm 6 months behind already. I wish there was a way we could play against others with the same OVR especially in Rec.

Not to knock those who put the time in to grind, but I feel like I would've more games if my ratings and badges were there.
