How to get a bad record by simulating

So I have done multiple teams to where I want to sim the first year and have a top draft pick. So I would turn my simulation slider like all the way down to in the 20s even, have players on my team that get injured to where I got 75 overall starters but yet my team still wins.

Is there a specific number I should have that slider at?

Stat engine has some real issues with bad teams making runs for some reason. I had a gutted pelicans get to the finals once, there best player was Steven Adams.

I tested this last year. I'm pretty sure lowering the simulator difficulty makes it easier for your team to win the sim games. I did a sim with the difficulty at 100 and Golden State didn't even make the playoffs. Now this was on 2k18.

Try upping the slider to 100 and see what happens. It doesn't seem to effect other teams either. I wish there was a slider for league-wide sim that would make it so higher rated teams won more so you didn't have low seeded teams winning so often in the playoffs

I believe the previous post is correct. Whenever I want to tank for a high pick, I turn the slider up to 100 and that usually does the trick.

I tried to rebuild the bulls in 2k18 and had a Hard time doing so, as i was on course to a top 6 seed by simming games. i then "injured" my "Star players" (lavine and portis) and brought All other starters from the bench. i actually started only players with below 75 ovr. that had to be the by far worst lineup in the whole game. even then i Was Not able to loose enough games to get the worst seed.

Hire a horrible coaching staff. It works most of the time.

That’s probably the best way. I’ve seen great teams turn into lottery teams due to terrible coaching staffs and bad teams on paper turn into juggernauts due to high rated coaching staffs in the game.
Say "No" to railroaded MC modes.

When I start the season I normally just hire a good trainer and scout and that’s it, then I leave the coaching alone till the offseason

I'll give this a try, was trying the same thing with the Magic, lose fan interest with relocation after year 3 or so but was winning instead. With the Rockets basically saying anyone on the roster is available, I think they would be a fun rebuild team with that approach. Going to try this with them.
