Almost 10 years since release how do you feel about Backbreaker?

I think that they should have had a second patch which would have fixed the camera angle and the create a team glitch caused by the Greathouse patch. But overall I thought they had a good base to make a decent game but some things would have had to be changed like the camera and the passing controls. It was definitely an unique football game and I wish they would have gave it another shot and release a sequel.

Still my favorite gang tackling in a game.

I hate that they gave up on this game after 1 release. Especially with how much more polished the running was in Backbreaker Vengeance. It was the most fun I've ever had playing a football game, and I spent hours making my own teams, too. The logo creator was second to none in sports games.

Yeah, I wish 2K was able to work with them and their tech if they were still making games. It just saddened me that they resorted to mobile only, where I'm sure they turned a nice little profit no doubt.

I still remember the first time I played BB in a hotel in Stockton after picking up the game. It was truly something else. I was so enamored by every play having a different feeling outcome with the tackles, even if they were unpolished and often outrageous. It was just so cool.

Then the Greathouse #3 patch happens, fixing some things and breaking others, but it was still enough to get me to finish two seasons with my Las Vegas Gamblers.

I tried to play it again a few months ago, and I gotta admit its sluggishness is tough to go back to. It definitely was the great toy to play with when it first came out, though. And as PV said, that customization was next-level. I mean look at the logos I was able to make:

          Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60

Still my favorite sports game, I absolutely love backbreaker. I wish we had a backbreaker 2. That's all I ask for is Backbreaker 2 it could be such an amazing game if they just add a few things to the game

I wish I was able to change teams mid game. If I were able to do that, I probably would've never put this game down. Tbh, I probably would've just played full-time defense cause I just loved by one player in a big pond. It was so fun!

This with NFL 2K5 are my favourite football games by far (I haven't been able to play all pro football 2k8).
I've tried to enjoy the new Madden games too many times but I can't enjoy the robotic animations, it doesn't feel good to play it.

I wish a second Backbreaker or something similar could exists.

Re: Almost 10 years since release how do you feel about Backbreaker?

Sorry to revive possibly a dead thread but I'm new and can't make my own thread.

Anyway, has anyone heard of any evidence of 2K using the euphoria or morpheme engines? They have the rights since they bought Zynga for a few billi.

Been big on NaturalMotion and Backbreaker since it's inception. Really sad that they didn't create a Backbreaker 2 as it would have ironed out a lot of problems with the game.

But I was doing research on euphoria and morpheme. And Take Two (parent of 2K) bought Zynga which bought NaturalMotion. Hence Take Two/Rockstar/2K having the engines to use for things like GTA6 (cause they've been using it since GTA3) and possibly a new football game. Again just wondering if anybody heard anything about it being brought back?

Not gonna get my hopes up cause it's now pretty old tech, but useful.

I'm keeping my hopes up that's exactly what they bought it for. Others speculate it's for mobile games, and perhaps both are involved. But my dream is that they're incorporating Euphoria in the best ways possible, whether it's an arcade or simulation title.

Let me be clear: whether Euphoria or something else, I will absolutely be disappointed if they do not have a real-time physics engine for 2K's next simulation title. I am letting speculation become expectation at this point.

Would have loved to see what this game could have become with a sustained commitment from the developer. I feel like it could have been something special.

But it's been this way since the dawn of time... as much as people say they hate Madden and want new football options, they just won't support anything without an official license.
