Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
They need to talk to Tiger and at least turn back on the DLC. But yes they need to remaster and put it on XBox One and PS4. Especially XBox One since they have backwards compatible capabilities. -
Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
Obviously things can change, but EA's and Tiger's split was not amicable. They stopped selling any Tiger Woods stuff when they cut him loose.
It would be more likely that they take RMPGAT and reboot that, with or without Rory being included. If EA and tiger patches things up, I could see a TW 20 coming out next year based on an updated RMPGAT game. that would be great if they flush the game out with a better career mode and better social play options.Comment

Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
Sports games are very difficult to remaster/rerelease, mainly due to licensing issues. My understanding is that they'd either have to renegotiate with every previously existing license/likeness in that game or strip away that content. That would include golfers, courses, tournaments, and official apparel at the very least.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment

The likelihood of all this is pretty much nil, but there is a path forward if someone at EA wants to take this on.
I am starting to think that the costs of development started to spiral out of control, so they cut it short and shipped the game in order to collect what they could. That could be either good or bad news about a new version. If they think they can still recoup costs, it might help. If it means it's just too expensive to work on, then they are done.
EA probably should have just paused on the TW series instead of dumping him. He's really the only golfer that I think drives sales to people that might not buy otherwise. Everyone else is just a name of a famous golfer, but doesn't really move the needle for most gamers.
That's why they never should have spent money on Rory. Even when he is going great, he doesn't have near the impact Tiger does. And Tiger's name has reached Madden's level, where it can just be the word for video game golf.Last edited by JayhawkerStL; 04-16-2019, 01:05 AM.Comment

Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
How would the PGA agreement with TGC19 effect things? As far as I know it was not an exclusive deal? Tiger has changed a lot since they canned the game. Someone at EA will want to make a name for themselves I bet, and reach out to TW.

Again if they were smart they would jump on the opportunity!Comment

Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
It didn't appear to be exclusive as PGA Tour Golf Shootout is using the same IP.

Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
If I were EA, I'd be on my hands and knees trying to make up with Tiger. A Tiger Woods PGA Tour 20 would make a killing. The buzz around golf since this weekend is beyond anything I've seen since 2008. Heck, I went out and bought 3 old Tiger games today myself. Imagine Augusta National on next-gen systems. I'd pay $50 just for Augusta itself. Come on, EA, this is the time to kiss and make up!There... are... four... lights!Comment

Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
After all - once a game exists, the potential could always be there for August/Masters paid DLC
Not having EA Frostbite Golf even be "a thing" anymore is the painful part.
The core engine was great. I don't know why they didn't throttle down dev costs to minimum and work on additions and updates slowly over time. Better to be in the genre with a great offering getting added to and built up over time than simply "non existent", at least in my eyes.Last edited by scagwi; 04-16-2019, 06:27 PM.Comment

Re: EA Remaster Tiger Woods 14
We send people out to get laser scans, agisoft scans and photo reference of the course. We then bring all of that back to the studio and go about making the course from the data and reference.
We can have a course up and playable very quickly, but it takes about 2-3 months from start to finish to get one completed. There is a lot of work around making unique structures, trees, etc for each of these courses. The bulk of the work goes into making it look good.
I have always remember this one, kind of showed it would take a very long time to get a real PGA game with all the licenses. Then there was the rest with building your golfer, gameface, etc. To get a full schedule like in TW14 with the new engine, it would have taken years. They probably just cut it short as they didn't see a good return for their investment.Comment

Exactly why they should remaster TW14, updated visuals but same game.Comment
